Abstract

Kinetics and mechanisms of Ni/zeolite-catalyzed cracking reaction of methyl ester palm oil (MEPO) were studied using a continuous flow-fixed bed reactor system at an atmospheric pressure. The catalyst was prepared by wet impregnation method with a solution of nickel nitrate hexahydrate as the precursor and zeolite as carrier. The characteristics of catalyst including active Ni metal content, crystallinity, total acidity, and porosity were evaluated. The reactions were performed with a varied hydrogen flow rate as a carrier gas as well as a reductant and reaction time. Liquid products were analyzed by GC. Analysis by GC-MS was only conducted on a product at hydrogen flow rate with the best conversion. It has been shown that the catalyst has a superior character for hydrocracking reactions of MEPO into green fuel. No considerable effect of hydrogen flow rate on the total conversion was observed. The tests showed that the kinetics of Ni/zeolite-catalyzed cracking reaction followed pseudo-first order kinetics. GC-MS analysis revealed the formation of light hydrocarbon products with C6-C8 of aliphatic and cyclic components without oxygenates. Distribution of the product indicated that the cracking reaction as well as the isomerization of the products of hydrocracking occurred. Thus, Ni/zeolite-catalyzed cracking involved cracking /hydrogenation, isomerization, cyclization, and deoxygenation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan dan keefektifan dari pengembangan Chemistry Adventure Sheets (CAS). CAS merupakan salah satu bentuk lembar kerja siswa yang mengaitkan materi dengan peristiwa dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah Chemo-Entrepreneurship(CEP) terintegrasi pendidikan karakter, sehingga dapat membantu pelaksanaan Kurikulum 2013. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah R n D dengan model yang dimodifikasi dari 4-D menurut Thiagarajan dan Semmel terdiri dari Define, Design, dan Develop. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh: (1) CAS “sangat layak” digunakan berdasarkan hasil penilaian pakar yang meliputi aspek bahan ajar, aspek desain, aspek materi, aspek bahasa,aspek karakter religius, dan aspek CEP. (2) CAS “efektif” digunakan dalam pembelajaran Kimia dengan pencapaian ketuntasan klasikal 78,57 % untuk aspek kognitif, ketuntasan klasikal 100 % untuk aspek psikomotorik, rata-rata skor aspek afektif adalah 70,61 dengan kriteria “membudaya”, rata-rata skor minat berwirausaha 101,07 dengan kriteria “tinggi”, tanggapan guru dan siswa “sangat efektif”.This study aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of development Chemistry Adventure Sheets (CAS). CAS is one form of worksheets students who associate the material with events in everyday life. The approach used is Chemo-Entrepreneurship (CEP) integrated character education, so as to assist the implementation of Curriculum 2013. The method used in this research is the R n D with a modified model of the 4-D according to Thiagarajan and Semmel consists of Define, Design, and develop. Based on the results obtained: (1) CAS "very decent" used by the results of expert assessment covering the aspects of teaching materials, design aspects, material aspects, language aspects, aspects of religious character, and aspects of the CEP. (2) CAS "effective" is used in teaching chemistry with classical completeness achievement of 78.57% for cognitive, classical completeness 100% for psychomotor aspect, the average score was 70.61 affective aspect with the criteria of "entrenched", the average scores interest in entrepreneurship 101.07 with the criteria of "high", the responses of teachers and students "very effective".

Abstract

The inculcation of Islamic character values for students is an important thing to be taught to students. One way of planting is to integrate learning material with the values of Islamic characters of students. This research was carried out through exploring the values of Islamic characters in hydrocarbon material taught in vocational high schools. The purpose of this study is to integrate the values of Islamic characters that are reinforced in the hydrocarbon material in schools. This research is a literature study with qualitative descriptive methods using content analysis techniques, analysis with a philosophical approach, analysis with triadic models, and analysis with confirmation models. The results obtained in this study are the study of the integration of hydrocarbon material chemistry lessons and Islamic character values that can be taught to intermediate level students. The results of the integration are as follows (1) The conversion of a less useful item into a more useful item, (2) Preserving nature as the human task as a Khalifah on earth, (3) Utilizing one of the reactions that occur in hydrocarbon compounds in daily life, (4) Utilizing petroleum as an example of a hydrocarbon product that is very beneficial to humans, (5) The benefits of carbon atoms in the carbon cycle, (6) The benefits of hydrocarbons in photosynthesis to increase our gratitude to Allah SWT, (7 ) The benefits of the special carbon atom in the concept of pairing in life, and (8) Grateful for the greatness of God who has created everything in nature

Abstract

ABSTRAKBiji karet hanya ditemukan sebagai limbah padat dan belum termanfaatkan sepenuhnya. Minyak limbah biji karet yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini mengandung asam lemak bebas yang tinggi, yaitu 97,77% dan mempunyai bilangan asam yang tinggi pula yaitu setara dengan 6,2 mg KOH g minyak, sehingga perlu dilakukan esterifikasi untuk menurunkan kandungan asam lemak bebasnya menjadi ester. Metanol (20% volume minyak) direaksikan dengan minyak limbah biji karet dengan katalis asam sulfat 98% (0,5% volume minyak) menjadi ester. Dalam operasi reaksi transesterifikasi, digunakan variasi optimasi katalis yaitu pada 0,5% sampai 1,5% KOH dengan suhu operasi 60 o C dalam perbandingan metanol dengan minyak 1:3 (volume), dan dengan kecepatan pengadukan yang sama, didapatkan konsentrasi metil ester yang baik pada katalis 0,75%. Uji fisis minyak limbah biji karet hasil reaksi transesterifikasi adalah Specific Gravity 0,9000, Density 919,5, Korosi Lempeng Tembaga 1b, CCR 1,361% W, Kadar Air 0,22%, Viscosity 11,53mm 2 /s, dan Flash Point 182,5 o C. Hasil uji fisis menunjukkan belum semua parameter metil ester atau biodiesel memenuhi standar biodiesel. Hasil uji Performance unjuk kerja menunjukkan biodiesel yang dicampur solar dengan perbandingan volume 20:80 memberikan hasil emisi gas buang paling bersih dan waktu pembakaran yang paling lama.ABSTRACTWaste of rubber seeds is found only as a solid waste and has not fully exploited. Waste of rubber seed oil used in the research contains high free fatty acids, about 97.77% and higher acidity number, namely 6.2 mg KOH / g oil, so it needs esterification to reduce the free fatty acid content to be changed into ester. Methanol (20% volume of oil) reacted with  waste of rubber seed oil to become methyl ester with sulfuric acid 98% (0,5% volume of oil) as a catalyst. In the operations of transesterification variations of the optimization of catalyst 0.5% until 1.5% KOH was used with operating temperature of 60o C in methanol to oil ratio of 1:3 (volume). In the process of transesterification used stirring speed equal to speed of  producing the higher concentration product of methyl ester or biodiesel. The product of biodiesel with higher concentration  was found by reaction of transesterification with catalyst of KOH 0.75% and operating temperature of 60o C. The physical test of methyl ester or biodiesel from the transesterification reaction showed the Specific Gravity 0,9000; Density 919,5; Corrosion of  copper 1b; CCR 1,361%W; water content 0,22%; viscosity 11,53 mm2/s; and Flash Point 182,5o C; respectively. Only some parameters of biodiesel product fulfilled   the standards.  Performance test of the biodiesel product showed that mixture of biodiesel and diesel in the ratio 20:80 produced the results of cleanest exhaust gas emissions and longest time of its burning

Abstract

Pendidikan karakter menjadi program prioritas pemerintah untuk di implementasikan di semua jenjang pendidikan di Indonesia, tidak terkecuali perguruan tinggi. Pendidikan karakter dapat di implementasikan melalui kegiatan kurikuler dan non kurikuler di perguruan tinggi. Implementasi pendidikan karakter melalui pembelajaran merupakan salah satu cara yang efektif berdasarkan hasil penelitian tentang pendidikan karakter. IPA merupakan salah satu bidang ilmu yang memembahas tentang fenomena alam dengan obyek benda hidup dan tidak hidup mendukung implementasi pendidikan karakter. Indonesia yang menganut landasan ketuhanan yang maha esa tentu memandang IPA tidak lepas dari pencipta. Oleh karena itu, artikel ini membahas rancangan bahan ajar konsep dasar IPA berbasis pendekatan ALSAK dalam perkuliahan konsep dasar IPA untuk meningkatkan karakter rasa ingin tahu calon guru SD menggunakan tema berpuasa. Penyusunan artikel ini berlandaskan hasil penelitian yang membahas pendikan karakter melalui pembelajaran IPA.
