Abstract

This research discusses the role of pastoral counseling assistance in helping single mothers or young single mothers face life challenges, especially in the context of the church. Single mothers are often faced with economic problems, social pressure, negative stigma, and complex psychological issues. This condition is exacerbated by their young age, which is often emotionally immature in facing the dual role of mother and head of the family. The Client-Centered approach proposed by Carl Rogers was chosen as a counseling method that emphasizes empathy, support without judgment, and provides space for the counselee to reflect and find their own problem solutions. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach that emphasizes objective field observations. Through systematic counseling stages, such as establishing trust, data identification, diagnosis, plan development, help implementation, and evaluation, pastoral assistance is expected to run effectively and help single mothers restore their mental and spiritual health.

Abstract

This article explores the concept of fragility within Christian theology, specifically examining how the vulnerability of women in church ministry is encountered through the lens of holiness and the sacrificial work of Christ. Utilizing a vulnerability theology framework, the study analyzes how women live out their spiritual calling amid patriarchal church structures that often marginalize their roles and voices. By engaging with theological discourse on fragility, this article seeks to offer a renewed perspective on how women may embrace their vulnerability as a sacred element of their ministerial vocation. The research employs a qualitative methodology, incorporating literature review and analysis of church documents. The findings suggest that fragility is not merely a sign of weakness, but a transformative space in which women may participate in the broader redemptive work of God.

Abstract

This study explores the strategic optimization of family pastoral counseling within the context of KGPM Bukit Sion Tumumpa, a local church facing increasing pastoral challenges. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research employed field observations, interviews, and documentation to uncover the current state of counseling practices. Findings revealed three core issues: the absence of a structured system for counseling delivery, insufficient counseling competence among church leaders, and a lack of emotional safety for congregants seeking help. Counseling was often reactive, undocumented, and reliant solely on pastoral availability, without support from elders or deacons as mandated by church governance. Moreover, counseling literacy was minimal, and trust barriers due to gossip or judgment further discouraged congregants—particularly women and youth—from seeking support. These findings underscore the need for systemic reform, including scheduled pastoral visits, competency-based training, and the cultivation of safe, confidential spaces within the church. By addressing these gaps, local churches can transform pastoral counseling into a redemptive ministry that strengthens family units and enhances spiritual growth.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

An inclusive perspective in understanding and responding to religious plurality in Indonesia is pursued through efforts to reinterpret the theology of the Gospel of John 14:6 in the context of the inclusiveness of Christian Religious Education (PAK) in Indonesia. The aim of reinterpreting this text is to offer an inclusive understanding of religious teachings in Indonesia’s pluralistic society. In carrying out this reinterpretation of theology, it is understood that the truth and the path to God must be seen from various religious perspectives, but still upholding the values of Christ. Thus, reinterpreting the theology of the Gospel of John 14:6 in the context of PAK inclusiveness in Indonesia is an important step in facing religious plurality with an inclusive attitude and expanding understanding of religious diversity in a pluralistic Indonesian society

Abstract

Marriage is considered an important foundation of life, but the reality of the increasing divorce rate in Indonesia shows serious challenges in maintaining family harmony. Pastors play a role as mediators in household conflicts, by implementing a spiritual approach and pastoral counseling that can help couples deal with their problems. This research was conducted using qualitative methods and describes pastoral counseling as a pastor’s strategy in divorce prevention efforts with a specific locus in the GMIST Resort Bitung area. In the context of the GMIST Resort Bitung, this study found that various inhibiting factors, such as lack of openness from couples and trust in pastors, hinder the effectiveness of pastoral counseling. Although pastors have implemented several strategies, such as regular visits and premarital counseling, their implementation is often inconsistent. This study shows the need for increased training and provision for pastors in pastoral counseling so that they can be more effective in helping families maintain their integrity and prevent divorce. Through a holistic approach and ongoing support, pastors can contribute significantly to maintaining family stability in the congregation
