Abstract

Fish farming plays a crucial role in aquaculture, where feed management is a key factor affecting productivity and operational costs. This research presents the design and implementation of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based automatic fish feeder system, integrated with a custom Android application. The system uses an ESP32 microcontroller to control a load cell sensor for accurate feed weighing, an ultrasonic sensor to monitor feed availability, servo motors for feed release mechanisms, and a DC motor for feed dispersion. Firebase Realtime Database serves as the data communication medium between the hardware and mobile application, enabling real-time control and monitoring. A rule-based control logic is implemented to execute scheduled or manual feeding processes. Experimental results show a feed weight accuracy of ±5 grams, with feeding operations completed within 1.5 minutes and an average throw distance of 287.8 cm. The system supports automatic alerts, scheduling, feed history logging, and remote access via the application. Compared to conventional manual methods, the system reduces feed waste, increases portion accuracy, and decreases feeding time by over 75%. These features demonstrate the system’s capability to enhance feeding efficiency, reduce labor dependency, and support sustainable and scalable fish farming practices through automation and real-time monitoring.

Abstract

Disaster is an event that causes great losses to the community. Disasters are destructive, very detrimental, and require a long time to recover. To overcome the impact of natural disasters on the community in East Aceh Regency, research is needed related to the mapping system for multi-disaster prone areas (floods and landslides) in East Aceh Regency. The application used for the mapping process is ArcGIS Desktop and the research methodology used for mapping is Composite Mapping Analysis which consists of the process of determining the class of each parameter, determining the weight of each parameter by combining each parameter. The method of combining them consists of a scoring process for each parameter, then overlaying the parameters used, calculating and producing relative weights or spatial means, and combining spatial means to produce a value from the weight of each parameter for floods and landslides. The results of the study showed that the percentage of area for the class very prone to flood disasters was 232,156.13 Ha (42.3%), the vulnerable class had an area of 228,634.01 Ha (41.7%), and the non-vulnerable class had an area of 87,687.40 Ha (16%). The percentage of area for the class that is very vulnerable to landslides is 49,998.13 Ha (9.5%), the vulnerable class has an area of 301,863.93 Ha (57.2%), and the non-vulnerable class has an area of 175,542.56 Ha (33.3%). The contribution of this research is to provide information on disaster-prone areas, causal factors, characteristics of vulnerability to natural disasters such as floods and landslides and provide a basis for more effective decision-making in disaster mitigation and management efforts. This approach offers a new contribution to the technology of mapping and classifying disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

The decreasing availability of agricultural land due to urbanization threatens farmers' income and agricultural sustainability. Hydroponic cultivation offers a solution by maximizing limited land, especially in urban areas. However, challenges in managing nutrients and watering systems remain a key research focus to enhance hydroponic efficiency and support environmental sustainability and food security. This research aims to control water flow, watering, and nutrition based on a schedule regulated by the RTC DS3231 and to manage the water volume in the reservoir using the HC-SR04 sensor. Based on data analysis and testing, it is concluded that the system operates effectively, regulating water flow from 08:00 to 17:00 at a flow rate of 0.001464 m³/s, watering pests at 09:00 and 17:00 for 5 minutes at a flow rate of 0.0016 m³/s, providing nutrients every three days at noon for 2 minutes at a flow rate of 0.0007917 m³/s, and managing water volume in the reservoir between a minimum of 92% and a maximum of 97%, with a total capacity of 5,214 liters. This system works well, allowing the owner/farmer to only monitor the hydroponic plants.

Abstract

Motor vehicle tax is a major source of Regional Original Income (PAD). However, the level of motor vehicle tax payment compliance in North Aceh Regency is still suboptimal, particularly related to late payments. A data-driven approach is needed to predict and understand taxpayer compliance patterns more accurately. This study aims to compare the performance of the Logistic Regression and Random Forest methods in predicting motor vehicle tax payment compliance, as well as to identify factors that influence taxpayer compliance behavior at the North Aceh Samsat (Sat). This study uses secondary data in the form of motor vehicle tax payment transactions at the North Aceh Samsat for the 2022–2024 period, totaling 100,000 observations. The response variable is the tax payment compliance status (compliant and non-compliant), while the predictor variables include vehicle age, type of ownership, vehicle type, and vehicle brand. The data is divided into 70% training data and 30% testing data. The performance evaluation model is conducted using accuracy, precision, recall, and Area Under Curve (AUC) metrics. The analysis results show that Random Forest has better predictive performance than Logistic Regression, with higher accuracy and AUC values. Vehicle age and type of ownership are the most influential variables in predicting tax payment compliance, while vehicle brand has a relatively smaller influence. Logistic Regression provides a clear interpretation of the variable relationship, but has lower discrimination ability than Random Forest. Random Forest has proven to be more effective as a prediction model for motor vehicle tax payment compliance at the North Aceh Samsat. The application of machine learning-based predictive models has the potential to support more targeted policy making in an effort to improve motor vehicle tax payment compliance, especially in reducing late payments.

Abstract

The 2025 flood disaster in Ujong Pacu Village, Lhokseumawe City, disrupted access to preventive health services for children, including circumcision, which has medical, social, and religious aspects. This community service research aims to improve the health of flood survivor children through a community-based mass circumcision program. The implementation method uses a community-based intervention approach that includes preparation, medical procedures, and post-procedure monitoring and evaluation. Data were collected through activity observations, participant documentation, and post-circumcision health evaluations. The results of the activity indicate that the mass circumcision program, implemented continuously from 2015 to 2026, served 260 children with a 100% success rate without serious complications. This program not only improves children's preventive health but also strengthens social solidarity and the role of universities in post-disaster social rehabilitation. These findings confirm that community-based health interventions are effective as a community empowerment strategy in disaster-affected areas.
