Abstract

Global demand for English as a foreign language (EFL) has generated a demand for learning options that maintain students motivated to study the language. The purpose of this study is to analyze ELT and EFL trends using published JEES and JEFL publications as a basis. The period under examination was from 2019 to 2023. Researchers investigated the 229 studies that were published in journals throughout this time period, concentrating on providing an overview of the methodology, subjects, and data collection techniques of the populations that were studied. In order to address the emerging topics in contemporary EFL and ELT research, we have also attempted to provide a summary of the literature's major findings. Thus, this work provides a thorough synthesis and analysis of current research trends in EFL and ELT in Indonesia. Furthermore, most of the studies featured university students and adults as well as teachers from general education. The results of this study show that the most discussed topics in both journals are about teaching practices and methods. The researcher also found extensive use of multimedia and ICT, through which we can identify a viable path for enhancing language learning, teaching, and future research. This review highlights the need for sustainable interventions and studies with diverse populations in the expanding field of EFL.

Abstract

SDM sekolah (terutama Guru Bahasa Inggris dan pendamping literasi) di SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta masih minim dalam hal wawasan dan pengalaman di bidang English News Anchoring. Salah satu sebab adalah belum adanya pelatihan English News Anchoring di SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. Akibat lain dari belum adanya pelatihan ini adalah kurangnya kesempatan bagi siswa untuk praktek meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris. Selain itu, kesiapan dan keikutsertaan siswa sekolah tersebut untuk memenuhi undangan lomba English News Anchoring juga minimal. Solusi yang ditawarkan adalah menyelenggarakan pelatihan English News Anchoring untuk guru dan siswa, dilanjutkan dengan pendampingan untuk siswa, dan lomba English News Anchoring tingkat sekolah. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan secara offline secara bertahap (enam langkah). Pertama, pengenalan English News Anchoring untuk guru dan siswa; kedua, pelatihan English News Anchoring untuk guru; ketiga, pelatihan (pendampingan) untuk siswa oleh guru dan tim pengabdi; keempat, workshop pengembangan teknis lomba English News Anchoring; kelima, pelaksanaan lomba English News Anchoring; dan keenam, pengumuman kejuaraan lomba.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the performance of village officials in realizing Good, Professional Performance and Satisfactory Service Quality to the community in Pesaku Village, West Dolo District, Sigi Regency in accordance with applicable regulations. The main theory used as a reference in this research is Agus Dwiyanto's theory, including; (1) Productivity, (2) Service Quality, (3) Responsiveness, (4) Responsibility (5) Accountability This research method uses a descriptive – qualitative approach. The location of this research was in Pesaku Village, West Dolo District, Sigi Regency, with 5 informants selected purposively. Data collection was carried out by conducting interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. Based on the research results, the number of people receiving direct cash assistance does not match the existing data, the village government is also unable to provide optimal services because the quality provided by the village government is still very low, influenced by the responsibility aspect which is not yet running well because there are still tools villages that do not carry out discipline according to the rules so that the accountability of the village government is still very low so that optimal services to break the chain of poverty and improve the welfare of the village community have not been implemented optimally.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana pelayanan public di kantor daerah provinsi Sulawesi tengah dalam rangka pelayanan terhadap anggota DPD RI beserta masyarakat dan daerah agar keberadaan kantor daerah dan kerja-kerja kedewanan diketahui kahalayak banyak demi untuk mejembatani kepentingan daerah untuk dibawah ke tingkat nasional, olehnya itu penelitian ini mencakup kantor daerah yang keberadaannya di ibu kota provinsi Sulawesi tengah. Jenis data yang digunakan yaitu data primer dan data sekunder. Teknik dalam pengumpulan data dan informasi adalah observasi wawancara mendalam dengan menggunakan pedoman wawancara dan dokumentasi. Penentuan informasi dilakukan dengan cara purposive sampling, informan dalam hal ini ada 03 (tiga) orang. Data yang dikumpulkan disaring dan dipilih berdasarkan kebutuhan yang kemudian dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif kualitataif. Teori yang digunakan dari Parasuraman, A. P., A. Zeithaml, V., & L Berry, L. (1988). Meskipun model ini sering dipakai untuk mengukur kepuasan konsumen, namun dimensi yang digunakan juga dapat diterapkan pada institusi public. Berikut 5 dimensi utama yang dinilai dalam konsep servqual ini yaitu 1. Tingeble, 2. reability, responsiveness, 4. assurance, dan 5. Emphaty.

Abstract

Purpose – Boarding schools in Indonesia integrate Islamic religious education with general education, offering a comprehensive learning and living experience for students. This model is effective in character building, moral value reinforcement, tolerance promotion, social integrity, and responsibility, all while emphasizing knowledge and technology mastery. However, these schools face challenges, including high costs, geographical barriers, and stringent academic requirements that limit accessibility for some students. This research underscores the need for management transformation in boarding schools to enhance accessibility and education quality while preserving the unique values and identity of pesantren. Design/methods/approach – Utilizing a literature review methodology, this study critically summarizes and evaluates relevant research to provide a comprehensive understanding of the transformation of boarding school management in Indonesia. Findings – The findings indicate that boarding schools must adapt to socio-cultural contexts and incorporate information and communication technology into management and learning processes. The study also reveals that parental involvement, effective management, and support for students' mental and physical health are crucial for the success of boarding schools. Research implications/limitations – Future research should focus on integrating ICT to improve educational outcomes and administrative efficiency, assessing holistic education models, evaluating economic empowerment programs, and examining mental health initiatives, as well as exploring collaborative efforts to enhance community engagement and support for students. Originality/value – Strengthening pesantren culture can address issues such as bullying, poor nutrition, and financial difficulties. Transformational management practices can meet the evolving educational needs and dynamic desires of parents and students while maintaining the core values of pesantren in Indonesia.

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the implementation process, benefits, and obstacles of using WhatsApp Automatic Reply (WhatsAuto) for students' consultation on writing narrative projects at X Grade SMK Muhammadiyah Tepus 2023. This descriptive qualitative research involved an English teacher and students from the X Grade as participants. Data collection methods included interviews, classroom observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that using WhatsAuto was conducted through structured activities divided into three stages: classroom activity, crosscheck, and submission. These stages allowed continuous interaction between students and teachers, supporting online and offline learning environments. The use of WhatsAuto provided several benefits, such as instant accessibility, flexibility, efficient communication, personalized learning experiences, and the promotion of digital literacy. However, some obstacles were identified, including varied levels of student understanding, low motivation, and technical issues such as poor network connectivity.

Abstract

English pronunciation is a common challenge for Indonesian students, mainly due to the influence of regional accents in Bahasa Indonesia. This research investigates how the lyrical feature of the Spotify application helps students improve their English pronunciation. The study focuses on students of class 8A at SMP Islam Nurul Iman Lampung Timur, chosen based on the researcher’s teaching experience, where students faced difficulties in English pronunciation. The purpose of this study is to explore students’ perceptions of using Spotify lyrics as a tool to enhance their English pronunciation skills. This study employs a descriptive quantitative design. A questionnaire was used as the primary instrument to collect data, tabulated and analyzed descriptively. The results reveal that 95% of students frequently use Spotify, with 60% agreeing and 40% strongly agreeing that the lyrics feature on Spotify significantly helps improve their vocabulary and pronunciation. The findings not only suggest the effectiveness of Spotify's lyrical feature but also inspire optimism about the potential of integrating digital media into language learning to address pronunciation challenges in an engaging and accessible manner.

Abstract

Salah cara yang paling efektif dalam intervensi kesehatan masyarakat adalah vaksinasi terhadap penyakit-penyakit menular pada anak-anak melalui program imunisasi. Dampak imunisasi yang selama ini ada di posyandu puskesmas pakisaji yaitu sebagian ibu dari balita yang tidak mendapatkan imunisasi dasar yang lengkap dan tidak mengetahui manfaat dari masing-masing imunisasi dasar. Ibu-ibu yang bayinya tidak mendapatkan imunisasi lengkap dikarenakan ibu tidak membawa bayinya ke posyandu ataupun di puskesmas untuk imunisasi karena sebagian panas saat akan dilakukan imunisasi dan ketersediaan waktu ibu yang bekerja sehingga selalu menunda untuk melakukan imunisasi pada balita sehingga masih ada beberapa ibu yang tingkat pengetahuannya rendah menjadi salah satu faktor tingkat pendidikan ibu menyebabkan kecemasan ibu untuk membawa bayinya imunisasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah Mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan ibu tentang efek samping imunisasi terhadap kepatuhan kelengkapan pemberian imunisasi dasar pada balita di wilayah posyandu puskesmas pakisaji. Metode sampling yang digunakan adalah simple random sampling dengan jumlah responden 32 balita. Pengelolaan data dan analisa menggunakan uji koefisien kontengensi Hasil penelitian ini menunujukkan bahwa Tingkat pengetahuan ibu (50%) dan kepatuhan ibu 23 orang (71,9%). Hasil uji koefisien kontengensi didapatkan nilai P-valute = 0,014 dan dapat di artikan adanya suatu hubungan yang signifikan antara pengetahuan ibu tentang efek samping imunisasis terhadap kepatuhan kelengkapan pemberian imunisasi dasar pada balita di di wilayah posyandu puskesmas pakisaji

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of determining the Influence of Employee Competence on the Quality of Motor Vehicle Tax Payment Services at the Palu City One-Stop Manunggal System Office. This study uses quantitative research conducted based on numbers and analyzed statistically. By using Edison et al's theory for competency variables with 3 dimensions, namely, knowledge, expertise, and attitude, and on service quality using Dwiyanto's theory with 5 dimensions, namely, attitude, procedure, time, facilities, and service costs. The data collection technique carried out in this study is by distributing questionnaires and surveys which are analyzed by quantitative descriptive analysis methods. The population of this study is all taxpayers who pay motor vehicle tax at the Palu City Samsat Office which amounted to 46,354 taxpayers, the sample drawing technique in this study uses the Slovin Formula with the number of samples obtained as many as 99.78 which is rounded to 100 respondents. Based on the results of this study, it was shown that the results of the normality test met the assumption of normality or Asymp.Sig (2 – tailed) of 0.076 > 0.05. The results of a simple linear regression analysis show that the competency variable has a significant influence on service quality with the regression equation Y = 6.518 + 0.764X. With the results of the F test on the F value of the F calculation > the table or 113.107 > 3.94, therefore it can be stated that the competence of employees has a simultaneous effect on the quality of service by paying taxes on two-wheeled motor vehicles at the Palu City Samsat Office. In addition, the value of the determination coefficient is 0.536 which shows that 53.6% of the service quality variable can be explained by the employee competency variable, while the remaining 46.4% is influenced by other factors. And the results of the hypothesis test stated that the competence of employees affects the quality of Samsat Kota services.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of waste management policies at the Environmental Service of Palu City. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, which provides an overview of the phenomena or factors of the problem under study according to existing facts. Data collection techniques are observation, in-depth informant interviews and documentation to collect data. Informants in this study amounted to 7 people. The theory used is George C. Edward III where there are four indicators, namely communication, resources, disposition and bureaucratic structure. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the implementation of waste management policies at the Environmental Service of Palu City, in general, the implementation of waste management is quite good. This can be seen from the indicators of the research results, which include aspects of communication to some people that are still lacking, in the transmission indicator it can be seen that policy dissemination has been carried out by the government, but the delivery of information and clarity regarding waste management is still not effective. Human resources are still lacking, the budget for operational funds related to sub-activities or waste programs is insufficient, as well as facilities to support the success of policy implementation such as TPS, TPS 3R, and an inadequate waste transportation fleet, Disposis or the attitude of implementers is good because policy implementers have carried out their duties and good standard operating procedures (SOP) for waste management. As for suggestions so that the implementation of waste management policies at the Palu City Environmental Service runs well, the Environmental Service must improve communication, namely in the transmission or dissemination of information evenly to the community. improve the quality of human resources by providing special training related to waste management to staff so that they are able to perform their duties more optimally and need to increase facilities and infrastructure such as waste transportation fleets and the availability of TPS, TPS 3R. And for the community it is recommended that there is a need for awareness to care about waste management in Palu City.
