Abstract

The case studies in the field, especially in the districts of Aceh Barat, if the shaft has been used fracture, then largely reconnected by means of welded, through welding without considering the type of groove welds suitable for welded joints pivot, so that its power will be lower and the life of the shaft becomes shorter. This study aims to determine the type of groove welds suitable for metal welding carbon steels are used and sold in the market town of Meulaboh, and estimate the maximum load permitted to work on the shaft so that the expected life of the shaft becomes longer, and see the pattern of fractures that occur on the surface shaft. Testing is done for 3 specimens a double groove welds V, 3 specimens double groove U and without welds 6 specimens in accordance with ASTM E-466. The results showed that specimens with a double weld groove U have a better fatigue strength compared with the double-groove weld V. fatigue limit (endurance limit) 85.83 MPa carbon steel. The pattern of the specimen surface faulting on the double U groove weld area deformed by the signs of the beach (beach mark) towards the center of the surface of the specimen (weld center) fracture pattern on the specimen surface area double V groove welds undergo large deformations on the outskirts of surface spesimen. Abstract

Abstract Coconut plantations reach more than 106 hectares of the 831 thousand hectares of plantation areas in Aceh. Meanwhile, the total production reached 63 thousand tons with a productivity level of 818 kilograms per hectare. Most of it is still traditionally produced to produce coconut milk from these coconuts. The design of the coconut milk production machine has been carried out and before it is used a vibration test must be carried out to determine the operational feasibility of the machine. This study aims to measure the vibration level of the centrifugal tube frame for the coconut milk production machine with a centrifugal system capacity of 10 L / hour. The test was carried out at three levels of motor rotation, namely 1000 rpm, 1500 rpm and 2000 rpm with repeated measurements carried out five times at each motor rotation speed, the measurement results were compared with ISO 2631-1 standards and Kepmenaker number KEP-51 / MEN / I999. The results showed that testing the vibration of a coconut milk production machine with a centrifugal system with a capacity of 10 L / hour stated that it was safe if it was operated for less than 4 hours for a motor rotating speed of 1000 rpm, for a motor rotating speed of 1500 rpm it was safe to use if it was operated for less than 3 hours, while for rotation 2000 rpm motor is good and comfortable to use for less than 2 hours. Keywords— centrifugal tube, coconut squeezer, SO 2631-1, KEP–51/MEN/I999

Abstract

Sarana transportasi merupakan sektor terbesar pengguna bahan bakar minyak bumi. Disisi lain para siswa SMK (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan) terutama dibidang elektronik dan teknik mesin, yang merupakan cikal bakal pemimpin dimasa depan, dari sejak dini mereka semestinya telah memiliki pemahaman dasar tentang teknologi pemanfaatan energi dan kesadaran akan pembangunan yang berkelanjutan berbasis energi ramah lingkunan. Oleh sebab itu, skim Pengabdian Masyarakat ini direncanakan untuk melaksanakan suatu sistim training terpadu desain mobil tenaga listrik untuk siswa SMK dan Mahasiswa. Dengan bimbingan mentor (nara sumber) para siswa SMK dibimbing membuat model mobil listrik di laboratorium Teknik Mesin Universitas Teuku Umar. Pelatihan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 19 s.d 20 Desember 2014 dengan materi yang diberikan, perkembangan mobil listrik di Indonesia, konsep dasar teknis dan ergonomic mobil listrik, teknik desain mobil listrik, kontroling dan manufakturing mobil listrik.Berdasarkan atas monitoring hasil pelatihan dasar desain dan pembuatan mobil listrik yang telah dilaksanakan dapat disimpulkan bahwa : Antusias mahasiswa dan siswa SMK sangat besar terhadap pelatihan ini, ini terlihat dari keseriusan mereka selama mengikuti pelatihan. Secara umum mahasiswa dan siswa SMK telah mampu memahami konsep dasar cara desain dan pembuatan mobil listrik. Kata Kunci :pelatihan, mobil listrik, siswa SMK

Abstract

The design of a two-row rice harvest machine that has a weight of 65.26 kg has been designed and has worked well with a harvest speed of 20.33 hours per hectare, but the optimization of battery power to drive an electric motor needs to be studied, because the time needed to charge a battery 12 volts 45 AH to the full using a 50 watt peak solar panel is 10.8 hours considered not yet effective, so in this study optimization was carried out using two solar panel units in a horizontal position and arranged in parallel on the mini rice harvesting machine. Measurement of the output current and voltage when connected and not connected to the battery will be measured to determine the electric current received by the battery from the solar panel. The results show that the measurement data that have been made are relatively fluctuating due to weather conditions, but in general it can be concluded that the average voltage of solar panels will rise to 80% if arranged in parallel using two solar panel units and if a series of two solar panels is connected to the battery, the voltage will drop by 25%. For the condition of electric current data using one solar panel will produce an average electric current of 18 mA and if using a series of two electric panels will rise an average of 3.8 times in conditions not connected to the battery. Abstract

Failuredue to corrosion fatigue is a phenomenon that often occurs in thestructure associated with a corrosive environment. Stepuse ofmaterialssuch as AISI 304 stainlesshas been done, buta failuredue to corrosion fatigue phenomena still occur and can not be understood and explained by the experts. This study focused on assessing changes in behaviorof AISI 304stainless steelareexperiencingrepeatedloadingincorrosive environment. The behavior changes observed with fatigue testing in laboratory air and 3.5% NaCl solution, using a fatigue testing machine typerotary bending, specimens weremadeaccording to ASTME-466 andASTMF-1801 for corrosionfatiguetesting.Fatigue testing presented in S-Ncurve and fracture patterns observed, observed in3.5% NaCl solution and constantstress 369.53 MP apitgrowth measurements done on sevenl evels and four levels of cycles for corrosion potential and current measurements a represented in the polarizationcurve. The results showe dthat the endurance limit of the laboratoryair environment at stress 323.34MPa and 3.5% NaCl solution decreases, up to stress 277.15 MPa at1.7x107cycles. Ductile fracture pattern is in the airand 3.5% NaCl solutionis brittle. Pits and cracks growth, failure is dominated by crack propagation and increase the number of cycles resulting in decreased surface potential and corrosion current density increases.

Abstract

Teknologi mesin panen padi telah mengalami perkembangan menggantikan sabit sebagai alat panen manual, mesin panen combine harvester telah diterapkan, tetapi masih ditemukan beberapa kendala di lapangan diantaranya belum mampu digunakan pada sawah dengan kondisi rawa, lahan sempit dan gambut. Kondisi sawah tersebut sebahagian besar berada di wilayah kabupaten Aceh Barat, ini menjadi latar belakang penelitian untuk merancang bangun mesin pemanen padi mini dua lajur dengan motor penggerak tenaga surya, Penelitian dilaksanakan melalui tahapan perencanaan desain, tahapan manufaktur, tahapan pengujian fungsional (tiga kali pengujian) dan elementer (enam kali pengujian). Perencanaan desain menghasilkan gambar teknik 2 dan 3 dimensi dengan perencanaan motor penggerak 50 watt digerakkan oleh baterai 12 volt 45 AH yang diisi dayanya oleh panel surya 50 watt peak pada siang hari dan dilengkapi dengan pengisian daya charger listrik 12 volt 8 Ampere. Tahapan manufaktur menghasilkan 1 unit mesin pemanen padi mini dua lajur dengan spesifikasi daya 1,4 HP putaran maksimum 7000 rpm, diameter pisau potong 33 cm, tinggi potong batang padi 30 cm dan dimensi keseluruhan panjang 120 cm, lebar 40 cm dan tinggi 100 cm dengan bobot 65,26 Kg. Perkiraan kemampuan baterai untuk menggerakkan motor listrik adalah 8,66 jam, kemampuan panel surya dan charger listrik untuk mengisi daya ke baterai adalah 10,8 jam dan 8,625 jam. Hasil pengujian fungsional menunjukkan bahwa komponen mesin telah berfungsi dan mampu melaksanakan fungsi pemotongan dengan baik dengan rata-rata kemampuan panen padi 27,32 jam per hektar.

Abstract

Karet merupakan komoditas unggulan di kabupaten Aceh Barat, komoditas ini merupakan sumber mata pencaharian pokok dan lapangan pekerjaan bagi masyarakat. Teknologi penyadapan karet memiliki peranan penting dalam peningkatan produktivitas karet, kondisi dilapangan sangat sukar seorang penyadap karet terutama penyadap pemula untuk mampu mengontrol kedalaman, ketebalan dan kemiringan sudut sadap, maka rancang bangun alat sadap karet diperlukan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas hasil panen karet.Tahapan rancang bangun dimulai dari studi literatur, desain dan simulasi menggunakan sofware Catia Versi 5, pemilihan material komponen dan manufaktur dilakukan sesuai dengan perencanaan desain dengan kontrol kedalaman  antara 1-1,5 mm dari kambium dan ketebalan sadapan 1,5 – 2 mm serta kemiringan sudut sadapan 300- 600. Alat bantu sadap karet yang telah di manufaktur diuji pada 9 pohon karet dengan variasi kemiringan sudut sadapan 300, 450 dan 600. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa alat bantu sadap karet dapat berfungsi dengan baik dan data hasil pengujian pada selang waktu uji antara 09.00 – 10.00 Wib untuk kemiringan sudut 600 , 450 dan 300 dengan hasil lateks rata-rata 1,7 gram, 0,98 gram dan 0,84 gram

Abstract

As technology advances, the development of equipment used by humans is increasing and most of the equipment produces unwanted sounds that cause noise. To overcome this, an alternative material for soundproofing is needed which is relatively cheap and easily available in the community by using marble powder as a polyurethane mixture in soundproof panels. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the sound absorption coefficient value and to determine the relationship between the frequency of the sound source and the sound absorption coefficient of acoustic materials using marble powder mixed with polyurethane in different compositions. The sound absorption test in this study was carried out using a two-microphone impedance tube and has a frequency limit of 125 Hz - 4000 Hz, variations in the mass composition of marble and polyurethane powder 1: 1, 1: 2 and 1: 3 with a thickness of 5 cm, 3cm and 1 cm. Then the test results of the 1: 1 test specimen, the lowest sound absorption coefficient value was obtained 0.10 0.73 cm-1 at a thickness of 1 cm with a frequency of 4000 Hz and the highest was 0.73 cm-1 at a thickness of 5 cm with a frequency of 125 Hz, the test results 1: 2 test specimen, the lowest sound absorption coefficient value is 0.29 cm-1 at a thickness of 5 cm at a frequency of 4000 Hz and the highest is 0.67 cm-1 at a thickness of 5 cm at 250 Hz, then the test results of the test specimen are 1: 3 values The lowest sound absorption coefficient was 0.24 at a thickness of 1 cm at a frequency of 4000 Hz and the highest was 0.71 at a thickness of 5 cm at a frequency of 250 Hz. For the comparison of the sound absorption coefficient values ​​based on the composition and thickness, the lowest and highest sound absorption coefficient values ​​are found in 1: 1 specimens with a thickness of 1 cm and 5 cm with the best sound absorption coefficient values ​​on average at a frequency of 500 Hz, but in material 1:2 and 1:3 obtained the sound absorption coefficient values ​​are in between on the grounds that the thicker the material, the higher the sound absorption coefficient value. Thus it can be concluded that the polyurethane composite material mixed with marble powder can be used as a sound absorbing panel material, especially in a 1: 1 composition

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the level of vibration and noise on the Equipment Vibrating screen crusher FC 02 at PT. MIFA Bersaudara. Vibration is measured using a vibration meter, noise is measured by a digital sound level meter. Measurements are made on the x, y and z axes at each measurement point. The results showed that the value of the vibration level on the Vibrating screen crusher FC 02 on the x-axis with the velocity value of 28.56 mm/s, the y-axis value of 29.82 mm/s and the z-axis velocity value of 25.46 mm/s. While the Acceleration value on the x-axis is 20.7 m/s 2 the value is 30.86 m/s 2on the y and z axes of 21.42 m/s 2 . While the noise value indicates that the average value on the right side is 99.6 dBA on the right side and 101.7 dBA on the left side. Efforts were made to overcome the problem, namely by not operating the VSC FC 02 exceeding the recommended maximum limit of 60 dBA and the maximum allowed which is 70 dBA so as to prevent problems of comfort, health, and safety at work. Operators and employees are advised to stay at the location for no more than 15-30 minutes, if more than that time must use safety earmuffs.

Abstract

The process of freezing fish always requires a cooler as a temporary storage place for fish. The ability of the storage to maintain cold temperatures is a serious problem to be considered so that the freshness of the fish can be maintained. Therefore, an appropriate technology is required to support the cold chain system so that fish quality can be maintained. The purpose of this study was to test the thermal conductivity of composite materials for fish storage insulation from a mixture of rice husks and polyurethane so that the price of the box can be reduced but still maintain the quality of the fish. The composition of the composite material was made with a volume ratio of 1:0.5, 1:1, 1:1.5, and 1:2. The thermal conductivity test of the material uses the ASTM E1225-99 standard. All test results were compared with 100% polyurethane material. The results of testing the thermal conductivity of 100% polyurethane material obtained 0.023 W/m.C. From all the test results, the material that is most likely to be applied to fish cooler box insulation is a 1:1 composition having a thermal conductivity value of 0.067W/m.C. Materials with this composition do not affect the expansion of the polyol and isocyanate reactions. This composition is the most economical to be used as insulation for fish storage boxes which can save the use of polyurethane by 50%.
