Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine whether there is a relationship between the level of knowledge of refill drinking water depot handlers (DAMIU) and the contamination of Escherichia coli bacteria and coliform bacteria found in Air Putih Village, Samarinda City. To analyze water samples from 14 DAMIUs, 9 of which did not have appropriate certificates, and 5 others had appropriate certificates, a laboratory experimental method with a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was used. There was an almost significant relationship (p=0.078) between the level of knowledge of handlers and contamination with Escherichia coli and coliform bacteria. The results of data analysis using the chi-square test are shown. The research results show that increasing knowledge is the key to influencing the quality of refillable drinking water. This research found that residents in Air Putih Subdistrict, Samarinda City have a high level of knowledge about handling.

Abstract

Abstrak Air merupakan kebutuhan dasar manusia yang vital untuk kehidupan sehari-hari. Kualitas air yang baik sangat penting untuk kesehatan. TPS 3R Terpadu Samarinda, menggunakan air sumur bor untuk keperluan operasional sehari hari tetapi kualitas airnya tidak memenuhi syarat, dimana air berwarna kuning. Penggunaan filter air berbasis arang aktif menjadi solusi yang efektif, ekonomis, dan ramah lingkungan untuk meningkatkan kualitas air. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli-Agustus 2024 adalah untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman pegawai TPS 3R tentang manfaat filter. Metode pengabdian ini menggunakan ceramah dan praktik demonstrasi pembuatan dan pengoperasian filter. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 15 orang yaitu pengelola TPS 3R lokasi tempat pembuatan filter. Hasil kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan, pengolahan air di TPS 3R Terpadu berhasil memberikan pemahaman tentang manfaat filter air kepada pegawai lapangan TPS 3R. Mayoritas responden > 50% memiliki pemahaman yang baik terhadap manfaat, ketersediaan bahan, dan cara pemeliharaan filter. Filter air yang dibuat dengan menggunakan arang aktif mampu meningkatkan kualitas air. Kata kunci: arang aktif;  filter; teknologi sederhana. Abstract Water is a vital basic need for humans in daily life. Good water quality is essential for health. However, water quality is often contaminated due to poor waste management. Therefore, the use of activated charcoal-based water filters becomes an effective, economical, and environmentally friendly solution to improve water quality. The community service activity at the Samarinda Integrated 3R TPS aims to improve the quality of bore well water, support sustainable environmental management, and serve as an example of the implementation of simple water management technology. This program involves TPS workers in the process of making and maintaining water filters through training and outreach. As a result of this activity, water treatment at the Integrated 3R TPS successfully provided field workers with understanding and knowledge about the benefits of water filters. Water filters made using activated charcoal were able to improve water quality. Keywords: filter; active carbon; simple technology.

Abstract

The waste problem is a global challenge that is faced daily, including in Indonesia. Organic waste that is not appropriately managed can hurt the environment. One effective solution is to process organic waste into compost and liquid organic fertilizer (POC). This activity aims to practice organic waste processing methods through training for students and teachers at SD Muhammadiyah 4, Samarinda, East Kalimantan. The methods used are Project-Based Learning (PBL), which includes socialization to increase environmental awareness and training in practical composting and POC. The parameters measured include temperature and pH to monitor the composting and fermentation processes. The results of the activity showed that the participants were able to process organic waste into fertilizer well. Compost has an acidic pH (4-6) because lime is not added during the composting process. POC has a pH of 4, indicating effective fermentation activity. The temperature at POC ranged from 26°C to 28°C, with the highest temperature on day 12 indicating maximum degradation. This service activity increases participants' understanding and skills regarding organic waste processing. This activity also encourages schools to actively manage waste independently, creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Abstract

Skabies adalah penyakit kulit yang disebabkan oleh tungau “Sarcoptes Scabiei Var Homonis” yang dapat menyerang individu dari segala usia, ras dan latar belakang sosial. Perilaku personal hygiene dan sanitasi perumahan merupakan faktor yang sangat berpengaruh dalam penyakit skabies. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif yang dilakukan dengan tujuan membuat gambaran atau deskriptif. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 32 responden diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Analisa data diolah secara manual dan disajikan dalam bentuk tabulasi nilai dan presentase Hasil penelitian perilaku personal hygiene yang dilakukan pada rumah yang berada di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Sidomulyo Kota Samarinda ditemukan bahwa hasil dari perilaku responden yang memenuhi kriteria baik 8 responden (25%), kriteria cukup 10 responden (31,25%) dan kriteria kurang 14 responden (43,75%). Hasil dari Penilaian Rumah Sehat yang memenuhi kriteria rumah sehat ada 12 rumah (37,5%) dan kriteria rumah tidak sehat ditemukan sebanyak 20 rumah (62,5%). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Sidomulyo Kota Samarinda, dapat disimpulkan bahwa masih banyak responden yang memiliki perilaku personal hygiene yang kurang baik dan pada sanitasi perumahan mayoritas rumah responden tidak memenuhi syarat pada pencahayaan, Sarana Pembuangan Air Limbah, Sarana Pembuangan Tempat Sampah, serta jarang membuka jendela kamar, sehingga memungkinkan terjadinya penularan skabies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa hubungan pengetahuan pengelolaan sampah dan kejadian diare di Puskesmas Air Putih. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode Kuantitatif dengan pendekatan Cross-sectional, melibatkan 82 responden yang diambil secara acak. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang mengukur tingkat pengetahuan pengelolaan sampah dan catatan medis mengenai kejadian diare. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan pengelolaan sampah dan kejadian diare, Dimana responden dengan pengetahuan baik tetap terkena penyakit diare. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya edukasi mengenai pengelolaan sampah sebagai langkah pencegah penyakit diare, sehingga diharapkan dapat meningkatkan Kesehatan Masyarakat di wilayah tersebut.

Abstract

Pelabuhan menjadi sentral aktivitas perpindahan orang dan barang antar pulau, termasuk Pelabuhan Bontang yang berada di wilayah kerja Balai Kekarantinaan Kesehatan Kelas I Samarinda. Kondisi sanitasi kapal yang buruk dapat menjadi faktor risiko terjadinya penularan penyakit di kapal. Hal tersebut menjadi dasar pentingnya untuk melakukan evaluasi terhadap kondisi sanitasi dan risiko penyakit di kapal. Tujuan penelitian ini menganalisis hubungan hasil evaluasi sanitasi dengan risiko penyakit kapal di Pelabuhan Bontang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah cross sectional. Sampel penelitian adalah seluruh kapal yang bersandar di Pelabuhan Bontang selama periode penelitian yang berjumlah 38 kapal. Analisis data menggunakan uji Chi Square dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05 (5%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 38 kapal ditemukan 33 (86,8%) kapal memenuhi syarat sanitasi dan 5 (13,2%) kapal tidak memenuhi syarat. Data risiko penyakit kapal menunjukkan 26 kapal (68,4%) dengan risiko penyakit rendah, 9 kapal sedang (23,7%) dan 5 kapal (7,9%) tinggi. Analisis statistik menunjukkan ada hubungan antara sanitasi dengan risiko penyakit kapal (p value = 0,002). Tingginya persentase kapal yang memenuhi syarat sanitasi dan memiliki risiko penyakit rendah dapat mencerminkan adanya kesadaran dan kepatuhan terhadap standar sanitasi yang berlaku. Peningkatan sanitasi kapal merupakan bagian penting dari strategi Kesehatan di wilayah pelabuhan dan perairan.

Abstract

Aim: This study is purpose to understand the chemical and physical characteristics and pollution load in each step of tempeh wastewater: washing, boiling, soaking and mixing. Tempeh is traditional food from soybean fermentation. Tempeh has a lot of healthy contents as protein and vitamin. However, wastewater from tempeh production is discharge to river directly which considered as environmentally damaging. However, the characteristics of wastewater from tempeh production and its level of environmental impacts to environment are limitedly studied. Methodology and Results: Tempeh wastewater was analyzed in chemical and physical parameters. Chemical characteristics analyzed are pH, Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). pH was measured using pH meter, BOD using SNI 6989.72:2009 method and COD using SNI 6989.2:2019 method. The physical parameter analyzed is Total Suspended Solid (TSS) and analyzed using SNI 6989.3: 2019 method. Pollution load calculated by deviation maximum pollution load and pollution load existing. Result of this study findings indicated that the highest BOD 299.40 mg/L and COD 540.66 mg/L was found in soaking step compared to other steps in tempeh production. Highest TSS 655.20 mg/L was found in boiling step. The pH values in all steps were acidic 4 and 5. Allocation Pollution load of: TSS overall exceeded the capacity, BOD and COD overall exceeded the capacity except in washing step (BOD 304.39 kg/day and COD 857.78 kg/day). Conclusion, significance and impact of study: The Highest TSS of tempeh wastewater processes was in boiling step while the highest organic matter was detected in soaking. Further for whole pH were acidic and exceeded the standard. Allocation of pollution load for TSS, BOD and COD exceed the standard except for BOD and COD in washing waste. Overall tempeh wastewater needs treatment to prevent river pollution.

Abstract

Water is a chemical compound that is very important for the life of living things on this earth. The function of water for life cannot be replaced by other compounds. The main use of water and very vital for life is as drinking water. This is to meet the needs of water in the body. The refill drinking water depot is an example of processing water into drinking water and selling it directly to buyers. The existence of refill drinking water depots continues to increase in line with the dynamics of the community's need for quality and safe drinking water for consumption. Even though it is cheaper, not all this depots are guaranteed the safety of their products. This happens because of the weak supervision of the relevant agencies. Based on this, it is necessary to conduct socialization and inspections related to the Depot, especially in Tenggarong District within the working area of ??the Rapak Mahang Health Center. This activity was carried out with the aim of ensuring the quality of drinking water safety and increasing the knowledge of water depot refills owners regarding the hygiene sanitation of the refill drinking water depot in accordance with the established quality standards. This activity was carried out in several stages, ranging from interviews, the examinations, to the socialization stage. The process of this activity went quite well, as evidenced by the willingness of the owner during the socialization and inspection.

Abstract

Ship sanitation is one of the efforts aimed at environmental health risk factors on board. The results obtained from the Port Health Office (KKP) Class II Samarinda, there are several types of ships that are routinely carried out sanitary inspections of ships, one of which is a passenger ship. Therefore, researchers want to examine the Sanitary Relationship of Ships With Signs of The Presence of Cockroaches On Passenger Ships Leaning in The Port of Class II Samarinda. The design of this study is an observational analytical method with cross sectional study design. The instruments in this study used the ship's sanitation inspection form and the cockroach inspection form on the passenger ship. The data is processed using Fisher Exact Test. Based on the results of the study, where the 5 vessels that were examined have met the sanitary requirements (100%) in accordance with The Minister of Health Regulation No. 40 of 2015 concerning Certificate of Ship Sanitation. The results of the study found signs of the presence of cockroaches on the ship as many as 4 units of ships (80%). The results of statistical tests processed by Fisher Exact Test obtained the following results, p-value count = 0.20 > from p-value α = 0.05 so that the conclusion H0 received, which means "No Relation to Ship Sanitation with Signs of The Presence of Cockroaches On Ships Leaning in Samarinda Port".
