Abstract

Sources of activity in Dorei Bay come from the Sanggeng market, the Wosi market, the port, the PLTD (Diesel Power Plant), hospitals, hotels, and residential areas. The seagrass system has a function as a food provider, as primary productivity in waters, dampers the arrival of waves, a place for growth and development of biota and sediment traps. Research and information on the accumulation of heavy metals in seagrass, especially Cymodocea rotundata are still very limited, especially in Doreri Bay. This study aims to describe the accumulation of heavy metals in seagrass Cymodocea rotundata, including leaves, roots, and rhizome, comparing the accumulation of heavy metals in seagrass Cymodocea rotundata each location as well as knowing the pollution index of each location. The research was conducted in Doreri Bay, Manokwari, West Papua in August 2018. The sampling locations for Cymodocea rotundata seagrass were around the waters of Pelayaran, Wosi, Yankarwar, Anggrem, and Nusmapi Island. The results showed that the highest Cu concentrations were described from each location, which ranged from 18.75 to 28.64 (mg.kg-1), followed by heavy metal Pb ranging from 0.46-19.31 (mg.kg-1), then logm weight of Cd ranged from 1.11-4.97 (mg.kg-1) and the lowest Cr6 + concentration in each location ranged from 0.20 -0.52 (mg.kg-1). The percentage of metal concentrations in the roots and rhizomes is 50%, it can even reach 82.64%, namely Pb metal at Yankarwar Beach. Meanwhile, the metal concentration in the leaf area ranged between 17.36-50.00% and the highest proportion was found in Pb metal at the Pelayaran location and Cr6 + metal at the Wosi location. The calculation results of the Metal poluttion Index (MPI) for heavy metals Pb, Cd, Cu, and Cr6 + show that the highest heavy metal index of 5 locations is on Anggrem Beach and the lowest is at Pelayaran Beach

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian adalah menentukan jenis dan konsentrasi alkali untuk menghasilkan chitosan dengan nilai derajat deasetilasi  dan pengaruhnya terhadap kualitas edible film berbahan campuran kappa, iota caragenan dan chitosan. Diduga Chitosan yang diberi perlakuan variasi jenis alkali (KOH dan NaOH) dengan konsentrasi berbeda (55%, 60%, 65%)  memberikan pengaruh berbeda nyata terhadap DD Chitosan yang berbeda. Sedangkan Chitosan dengan DD berbeda yang digunakan sebagai bahan campuran pada pembuatan edible film  diduga memberikan pengaruh berbeda nyata terhadap kualitasnya.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Jenis dan konsentrasi alkali berpengaruh signifikan terhadap nilai derajat deasetilasi chitosan dengan nilai derajat deasetilasi chitosan tertinggi didapatkan dengan perlakuan NaOH 65% sebesar 84,36%. Nilai derajad deasetilasi chitosan berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap kadar air, elongasi, kuat tarik, ketebalan dan transmisi uap air edible film. Kualitas edible film yang dipengaruhi DD chitosan tertinggi  sebagai bahan campuran edible film adalah Kadar air 10,83% - 17,67%;, elongasi 6,95% - 8,58%;;, kuat tarik 41,07 N/cm2 - 72,76 N/cm2, ketebalan 39,86 µm - 58,67 µm dan transmisi uap air edible film 05 0,26 g/m2jam - 0,26 g/m2jam.

Abstract

Abstrak  Caragenan dan chitosan merupakan bahan yang  dapat digunakan sebagai bahan edible film.  Tujuan penelitian adalah mencari pengaruh penggunaan bahan campuran antara kappa caragenan, iota caragenan dan chitosan dalam perbandingan terhadap kualitas edible film. Metode penelitian adalah laboratorium eksperimental desain dengan perlakuan yaitu campuran bahan kappa caragenan, iota caragenan dan chitosan dalam berbagai perbandingan; Variabel terikat meliputi: transmisi uap air, elongasi, uji kuat tarik, ketebalan. Desain penelitian ANOVA dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang diulang 3 kali..Analisa data menggunakan SPSS 17.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas edible film yang diamati melalui uji tensile strength,elongasi,ketebalan dan transmisi uap air sangat dipengaruhi oleh bahan edible film, terutama penggunaan kappa caragenan dalam campurannya. Edible film yang tidak menggunakan bahan kappa caragenan menunjukkan kualitas yang tidak dapat diuji lanjut karena retak dan sobek dilihat dari morfologi.Perlakuan terbaik didapatkan pada perlakuan kappa caragenan, iota caragenan dan chitosan dalam perbandingan 3:1:0 dengan nilai elongasi 13,55%;transmisi uap air 2,38 g/m2.jam. Perbandingan bahan 3:0:1 memberikan nilai tensile strength sebesar 36,83 N/mm2, ketebalan terendah sebesar 47,67µm pada perlakuan dengan perbandingan bahan 1:1:1. Kualitas terbaik diamati berdasarkan penampakan yang bening, transparan, tipis dengan nilai tensile strength dan elongasi tertinggi.  Key word :Eucheuma cottonii,Eucheuma spinosum,kulit udang

Abstract

Mangroves are one of the beneficial plants that directly touch human life, especially coastal communities. The extract and raw materials from these mangroves are widely used as a source of food and for natural medicinal. The purpose of this study was to identify the chemical content and bioactive compounds of Rhizophora mucronata from Langge Village, Kecamatan Anggrek, North Gorontalo District. In this research, the research method used is descriptive method. To obtain the extract using the maceration method with methanol as a solvent. Chemical testing includes testing of moisture content, ash content, total fat, protein, carbohydrates, while the identification of bioactive compounds uses qualitative methods. The results of the chemical content test for water content of 52.38%; Ash content 0.22%; Total fat content 2.33%; protein content of 6.85% and carbohydrates 30.30% and the identified bioactive compounds are flavonoids, saponins, tannins, tripertenoids and steroids as well as phenol hydroquinone compounds.

Abstract

Senggreng Village is one of the areas in Sumber Pucung District, Malang Regency, promising to be developed in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and agro-tourism. Abundant water resources mainly support the fisheries and agriculture potency due to its position near the Sutami Dam. One of the community groups in Senggreng Village, "Sumber Duren", is "engaged in developing a small amusement park that integrates culinary, fishing park and freshwater fish farming business, managed through a cage system. Regardless of its considerable potency, fish farming has not been carried out intensively, especially due to the high prices of commercial fish feed. Therefore, this community service team proposed a solution by initiating mealworm (Tenebrio molitor) cultivation as a cheap, high-protein, and sustainable source of fish feed to increase crop yields. Experienced mealworm practitioners also provided intensive mealworm cultivation education, training, and profitable business planning. Through this program, the community group "Sumber Duren" has been" successful in cultivating mealworms starting from the seedling phase to becoming broodstock and laying eggs. Based on the questionnaire data collection, most community group members stated that this community service activity helped provide new knowledge interested in cultivating alternative feeds, and 80% of respondents expected the activity to continue in the following years.

Abstract

Edible film merupakan lapisan tipis atau film yang terbuat dari komponen yang dapat dimakan dan berfungsi melapisi produk pangan. Bahan pembuatan edible film adalah dari kelompok karbohidrat, lemak, protein dan bahan pengemulsi serta bahan penstabil. Rumput laut seperti Eucheuma spinosum dan Sargassum filipendula adalah biopolymer yang bersifat biodegradable. Bahan pembentuk film tidak hanya dari kelompok rumput laut akan tetapi Chitosan juga dapat dipadukan dalam pembuatan edible film. Chitosan adalah kationik. Eucheuma spinosum adalah bahan penghasil iota caragenan yang bersifat anionik. Sehingga diharapkan dari campuran bahan yang bersifat kationik dan anionik dapat memperkuat ikatan film. Pada penelitian ini didapatkan hasil kadar air berkisar antara 15,87 ± 0,35% hingga 21,23 ± 0,21%. Nilai ketebalan berkisar antara 0,04 ± 0,01 μm hingga 0,17 ± 0,00 μm. Nilai tensile strength berkisar antara 1,38 ± 0,04 MPa hingga 19,45 ± 0,06 MPa. Nilai elongasi berkisar antara 1,10 ± 0,10% hingga 8,93 ± 0,01%. Nilai transmisi uap air berkisar antara 0,00 ± 0,00 g/m2.jam hingga 0,02 ± 0,00 g/m2.jam.   Edible film is a thin layer or film made of edible components and functions to coat food products. Materials making edible films are from the group of carbohydrates, fats, proteins and emulsifying agents and stabilizers. Seaweeds such as Eucheuma spinosum and Sargassum filipendula are biodegradable biopolymers. Film-forming materials are not only from the seaweed group but also Chitosan. Chitosan is cationic. Eucheuma spinosum is an anionic which iota caragenan producing material. So it is expected that the mixture of cationic and anionic materials can strengthen the film bond. In this study, the results of water content ranged from 15.87 ± 0.35% to 21.23 ± 0.21%. The thickness value ranged from 0.04 ± 0.01 μm to 0.17 ± 0.00 μm. Tensile strength values ranged from 1.38 ± 0.04 MPa to 19.45 ± 0.06 MPa. Elongation values ranged from 1.10 ± 0.10% to 8.93 ± 0.01%. Water vapor transmission values ranged from 0.00 ± 0.00 g/m2.h to 0.02 ± 0.00 g/m2.h.

Abstract

There is increasing awareness of the importance of sustainability in aquaculture, however, research that explicitly integrates accounting with environmental information in decision-making remains relatively unexplored. Sumenep Regency in East Java is one of the largest producers of vannamei shrimp with high economic value. This research was conducted at a vannamei shrimp farming company in the area. This company uses a semi-intensive system and has made efforts to care for the environment, but has not fully integrated environmental aspects into its financial support. It has the potential to hurt sustainability. Environmental management accounting is an accounting approach that integrates environmental information into the company's accounting system, to support better decision-making in terms of environmental and economic performance. This study aims to design a scenario for the sustainability of aquaculture vanname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) business through environmental management accounting in the company Sumenep Regency. The data are collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. It employs prospective analysis of SMIC-Prob based on probability with subjective probability. It is used to compute the probability of the event. This study uses probability sampling. The experts are top manager, middle managers in production and finance, local government, and researchers in fishery agribusiness. This study shows that the primary scenario recommendation for the sustainability of vanname shrimp farming is integrated environmental management in accounting. Meanwhile, the government needs to support them to apply it through socialization, regulation, and educating/training about it.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to find out the effect of using kappa caragenan as an Lactobacillus acidophilus encapsulating material on viability and “shelflife”. The research method was an experimental laboratory design with Completely Randomized Design (CRD), ANOVA, followed by the Fisher test, to test for differences. Data analysis using Minitab 16 software. The research treatment was the concentration of kappa caragenan with sub-treatment as follows: A1 (2%); A2 (2.5%); A3 (3.0%); A4 (3.5%); A5 (4.0%); A6 (4.5%) The results showed that the use of different concentrations of kappa caragenan as an encapsulation material for Lactobacillus acidophilus had a very significant  difference effect on the viability of Lactobacillus acidophilus and encapsulation yield. Viability increases with increasing concentration of kappa caragenan used. The highest viability of 8.71 log CFu / mL was obtained using a 4.5% kappa caragenan concentration with a “Shelflife” calculation of 65.73 years of storage at 5oC. The research suggestion was testing 4.5% Lactobacillus acidophilus microcapsules encapsulated by kappa carrageenan in GI Tract simulation solution. Keywords: Eucheuma cottonii, Microencapsulation, Emulsification
