Abstract

The learning method applied on chemistry study nowadays is still one-way; students act as listeners and are not active on learning processes in the classroom. The goal to be achieved on this research was to determine the effect of cooperative leraning model make a match type on compounds and chemical equations naming topic towards the students’ learning outcome and to their critical thinking skill of X grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Dampelas consisting of 6 classes. 2 classes were taken as samples by purposive sampling; 28 students of class XE as control class and 28 students of class XF as the experimental class. The research instruments used were tests and observation sheet. Descriptive and inferential statistics analysis methods were used asthe data analysis technique. Statistics analysis of right side t-test was used for testing the research data. The average score of learning outcome achieved as the research result were 78.96 of experimental class and 60.92 of control class and the average score of critical thinking skill were 74.75 for the experimental class and 65.75 for the control class. The research result showed that the use of cooperative learning model make a match type on compounds and chemical equation naming topic made the students’ learning outcome and crictical thinking skill better.

Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the comparisons of students study output of Class VIII of SMP Negeri 19 Palu, done by the implementing connected model of integrated learning - based cooperative learning and conventional model. This research was quasi experiment with pre test-post test control group design. The research sample was chosen through purposive sampling technique with two classes involving experimental and control classes. Those were Class VIIIA as the experimental class while Class VIIIB as the control one, who have the same class average value. The technique of collecting data was essay test consisting of five test items. The data analysis result showed that the average of post test and pre test score difference of the control class was 4.84 while the experimental one was 10.92. The result of statistical calculation of these two classes which tested through U-Mann Whitney Test with and 95%, degree of freedom was Zcounted < Ztable (-4.594 < -1.96). It means that there were significant differences of students study output between experimental class and control one. Therefore, the integrated learning can be applied at school in order to increase the students study output and the meaningful learning of students.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the level of a dye, rhodamin B, and a preservative, benzoic acid, on tomato sauce distributed in the area of Palu city. The food additive is used in order to get more interesting color and the benzoic acid is used to keep the food fresh for a long period of time. The research method used was a thin layer chromatography. It was aimed at knowing weather there was a dye called rhodamin B in the research sample or not. From the analysis result, it can be said that the sample did not contain the dye rhodamin B. in addition, another research method used was alkali acid titration which was used to examine the sample quantitatively and qualitatively. From the qualitative examination, it was found that all tomato sauced sampled positively contained the preservative benzoic acid. The tomato sauce produced by Mojokerto-Indonesia contained 34.7mg/kg while the one produced by Urabaya-Indonesia contained 40mg/kg. In conclusion, (1) all sample of tomato sauce examined did not contain Rhodamin B,the red dye substance, which was forbidden to be used for food, cosmetics, and medicine according to the Health Ministerial Regulation of Indonesian Republic No. 722/Menkes/Per/IX/1988 concerning food composition; and (2) the content level of Benzoic Acid in tomato sauce spread out in the traditional market, Inpres, Palu city has fulfilled the standard, i.e. + 1000 mg/kg. However, it is expected that all people must still be careful when buying and using tomato sauce.

Abstract

The research regarding the natural insecticide capacity of squeeze combination of cassava (dioscoreahispida Dennst) and tobacco’s extract has been done. The purposes are to measure the capacity of squeeze combination of cassava and tobacco’s extract as a natural insecticide and to determine the most effective combination as natural insecticide. The method was the laboratory experiments by using squeeze cassava and tobacco’s extract with the comparison ratio (in mL) as follow; 0:100, 25:75, 50:50, 75 : 25, and 100 : 0. The using of various comparisons is to determine the most effective combination as natural insecticide. The data were analyzed by the statistical test analysis of variance (ANOVA) with a 95% confidence level. The result shows that the squeeze combination of cassava and tobacco’s extract reduce the capacity of natural insecticide which is dioscorin compound in cassava and nicotin in tobacco.However, the most effective treatment to kill rice pest is the mixture of cassava and tobacco 0 mL : 100 mL, and also 100 mL : 0 mL.

Abstract

Research has been conducted to determine the level of vitamin C by a visible spectrophotometer, and a metal content of potassium (K) from pumkin sample (Cucurbita Moschata) by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Measuring the levels of vitamin C in the sample performed at a wavelength (λ) = 510 nm and measuring the levels of potassium in the sample performed at a wavelength (λ) = 766,5 nm. The results obtained by the levels of vitamin C is sample A (pumpkin from Jono oge village) obtained at 6 mg/L, sample B (pumpkin from Sidera village) obtained at 4,5 mg/L, and sample C (pumpkin from Toro village) obtained at 0,97 mg/L. While the metal content of potassium is sample A (pumpkin from Jono oge village) obtained at 23,22 mg/L, sample B (pumpkin from Sidera village) obtained at 22,22 mg/L, and sample C (pumpkin from Toro village) obtained at 20,22 mg/L. These data indicate that the levels of vitamin C and potassium sample A higher than sample B and C.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes will be better if the experience for themselves what really happened. They will continue to remember the events that ever happened; therefore we need a method of teaching that is oriented to students. The purpose of this research is to improve learning outcomes chemistry of students class XI at SMA Negeri 1 Dampelas using learning cycle model base map concept in equilibrium topic of chemical. The Population of this research was all students in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Dampelas which consists of 4 classes. The sample was taken 2 classes with purposive sampling technique, which are class XI IPA 2 as much as 32 students as the experiment and class XI IPA 1 as much as 32 students as the control class. Research data collection was done by using a test instrument in the form of test results of chemical equilibrium. Testing research data using statistical analysis of t-test the right side and prerequisite test is homogeneity and normality test. The median score of student learning outcomes using learning cycle methods is 17.18 while median score of student learning outcomes with conventional learning is 14.25. Based on the calculation of the t test statistic obtained t_calc= 3.71, this show that in the region of rejection H_0 is 2.00. It can be concluded that there is an increase student learning outcomes with learning cycle model base map concept than students’ conventional teaching of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Dampelas on the subject of chemical equilibrium

Abstract

Research on the antioxidant activity test has been done on red fruit (pandanus baccari L) from Poso area Central Sulawesi. This research was conducted by laboratory experiments using maceration extraction techniques, DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil) as free radicals, vitamin C as positive control, UV-Vis spectronic as a tool for antioxidant test, and red fruit extracts as samples. The aim of this research was to determine antioxidant strength of red fruit extracts. The red fruit sample was used as much as 30 grams, and the solvent was an absolute ethanol, whereas variations in the concentration of red fruit extracts used were 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm, and 80 ppm. Antioxidant activity test was done by using a UV-Vis spectronic and IC50. The results showed that the red fruit extracts had strong antioxidant activity with the percentage of optimum activity in inhibiting free radical by 81.02%, and the IC50 value was 14.454 ppm.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to increase result of learning student at items of thermochemistry of class XI SMA Negeri 7 Palu. One of effort used to increase result of learning the by applying model the study of co-operative of type STAD (Student Teams Achievement Devision). As for which this research background because items termokimia represent the items assumed difficult by this items and student also of vital importance comprehended by student of class XI. So that is not assumed difficult, draging on and is easy to comprehended by student hence teacher have to give a pleasant study model with the model of study of co-operative of type STAD (Student Teams Achievement Devision). this Research Population is all student of class of XI IPA SMA Negeri 7 Palu of school year 2012/2013 consisted of by 3 class and sampel used consisted of by two class that is XI IPA1 as much 37 people as class of experiment and class of XI IPA2 as much 37 people as control class determined by purposive sampling. Data collecting done to use the instrument tes in the form of tes result of learning is tested by the student chemistry of validity, reliabilitas, mount the difficulty and energy of the difference. Data examination result of research use the statistical analysis test the t one party (right) with the prerequisite test, test the normalitas, and homogeneity. At this research obtained by a mean score result of learning student by using model of study of co-operative of type STAD is 13.20 while mean score result of learning student following conventiona l study 8.93. Pursuant to hypothesis examination statistically test the t one party (right) obtained by value t calc > t table that is 6.88 > 1.67 with the belief level = 0.05 and dk = 72. The result refer that result learn the student chemistry use the model of study of compared to by better type STAD co-operative result learn the student by using conventional study model.

Abstract

The use of instructional media could help teachers to develop and deepen in teaching and learning process in the classroom. This study aims to determine the effect of using atomic structure card media and periodic systems toward learning outcome of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Palu. The population in this study was all of the eleventh grade students on Science Program of SMA Negeri 6 Palu in the academic year 2013/2014 which consists of 3 classes. The sample in this study was 30 students of Science Program 1 as the experimental class and 32 students of Science Program 2 as the control class. Testing research data used statistical analysis of the t test (right) with the prerequisite test, test for normality, and homogeneity. The data analysis result obtained for the average score in the experiment class X1 = 68.03 with deviation standard = 10.50 and the control class X2 = 54.75 with deviation standard = 9.57. Based on the testing result of hypothesis by statistical t-test values obtained right side of tcounted> ttable is 5.37 > 1.67 with a confidence level of 0.05 and degrees of freedom = 60. From the results of hypothesis testing, then, Ho was rejected so it can be concluded that there is a better influence in using atomic structure card media and periodic system toward learning outcome of the leventh grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Palu.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar IPA materi pengelompokan mahluk hidup pada siswa kelas III SDN 2 Salakan Kecamatan Tinangkung Kabupaten Banggai Kepulauan melalui pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan rancangan penelitian menggunakan model penelitian tindakan dari Kemmis dan Mc Taggar yang meliputi planning (rencana), action (tindakan), observation (pengamatan), dan reflection (refleksi).  Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas III A SDN 2 Salakan yang berjumlah 23 anak yang terdiri dari 12 anak laki-laki dan 11 anak perempuan. Hasil pelaksanaan tindakan menunjukkan bahwa pada siklus pertama secara klasikal siswa belum tuntas belajar, karena siswa yang memperoleh nilai ≥ 65 hanya sebesar 60,87% lebih kecil dari persentase ketuntasan yang dikehendaki yaitu sebesar 85%.  Pada siklus II ini ketuntasan belajar secara klasikal telah mengalami peningkatan dan lebih baik dari siklus I, nilai rata-rata prestasi belajar siswa adalah 70,00 dan ketuntasan belajar mencapai 78,26%.  Hasil pada siklus III ini mengalami peningkatan lebih baik dari siklus II, nilai rata-rata tes formatif sebesar 73,70 dari 23 siswa yang telah tuntas sebanyak 20 siswa dan 3 siswa belum mencapai ketuntasan belajar. Maka secara klasikal ketuntasan belajar yang telah tercapai sebesar 86,96%.  Secara umum telah terjadi peningkatan persentase keberhasilan tindakan dari 60,87% pada siklus I, 78,26% pada siklus II dan 86,96% pada siklus III. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan CTL dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar IPA pada kelas III SDN 2 Salakan Kecamatan Tinangkung Kabupaten Banggai Kepulauan.
