Abstract

Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan 10 Mei – 25 Juli 2019 di Balai Benih Ikan Ryan Farm, Limbungan Rumbai yang diikuti oleh petani ikan, mahasiswa kukerta terintegrasi dan tim pengabdian yang berjumlah 20 orang. Tujuan Kegiatan Pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan petani ikan tentang budidaya cacing sutra, sehingga tidak tergantung lagi kepada musim di alam. Sedangkan manfaatnya diharapkan dengan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan yang diperoleh oleh peserta maka dapat memanfaatkan unit pembenihan Ryan Farm untuk pengembangan budidaya cacing sutra sampai memproduksinya akibatnya tentu produksi larva ikan dapat meningkat yang akhirnya dapat meningkatkan income bagi masyarakat setempat. Kegiatan praktek budidaya cacing sutraini dilakukan langsung oleh para peserta. Dimulai dengan praktek pembuatan media cacing sutra kemudian dilanjutkan dengan budidaya cacing sutra diwadah baskom tahu ukuran 35x28x11 cm selama 3 minggu. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah setelah dilakukan penyuluhan dan pelatihan maka berdasarkan kuisioner yang diajukan ternyata terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat petani ikan tentang budidaya cacing sutra 90% sedangkan setelah dilakukan budidaya cacing sutra selama 3 minggu maka diperoleh cacing sutra seberat 109 g/wadah. Permasalahan yang ditemui selama praktek adalah tumbuhnya populasi cacing darah di wadah media budidaya cacing sutra.

Abstract

Ibu rumah tangga merupakan potensi tersendiri untuk pengembangan ekonomi dan nutrisi keluarga. Ikan lele dumbo memiliki rasa gurih dan telah menjadi bagian dari menu masyarakat Riau. Di sisi lain, ikan ini relatif mudah dibudidayakan, tahan terhadap lingkungan ekstrim bahkan di daerah sempit tanpa perlu air mengalir. Kegiatan ini bertujuan membina ibu rumah tangga untuk memelihara ikan lele dumbo di dalam drum, membuat pakan ikan lele sendiri dan memproses sebagian dari hasil panen mereka. Program ini diadakan di Kampung Minas Barat, Kabupaten Siak, Riau dengan menggunakan metode demonstrasi langsung. Para peserta diajari cara membuat pakan ikan, budidaya ikan lele dan kegiatan pasca panen. Dimulai dari pembentukan kelompok dan pengangkatan ketua dan sekretaris. Dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan tatap muka, praktik langsung membuat pakan ikan, persiapan wadah tumbuh, penebaran benih ikan dan pemeliharaan. Setiap peserta diberikan 1 unit drum bervolume 200 L, 300 ekor bibit ikan dan sejumlah pakan ikan lele yang mereka produksi sendiri. Satu unit mesin pembuat pelet diserahkan kepada kelompok ini. Kegiatan pemantauan dilakukan terus menerus dengan setiap 2-3 minggu, baik melalui kunjungan langsung atau melalui telepon. Peserta binaan terlihat serius, antusias dan rajin dalam menjalankan program ini. Sampai di akhir kegiatan ikan sudah mulai dipanen dan dikonsumsi oleh anggota keluarga sendiri. Dilihat dari perspektif penguatan ekonomi keluarga dan peningkatan gizi rumah tangga, kegiatan ini dianggap cukup baik dan diharapkan ditiru oleh anggota masyarakat lainnya.

Abstract

This research was conducted in March-April 2019 in the waters of Tanjung Balai Asahan, North Sumatra Province. Aim to determine the particle size of sediments, determine the abundance and distribution patterns of kerang darah (A. granosa), and analyze the effect of particle size of sediments and organic matter on the abundance of kerang darah (A. granosa). Sediment and kerang darah (A. granosa) samples were taken using a grab sampler from 4 stations, each station consists of 5 sampling points. The results showed that the environmental conditions of Tanjung Balai Asahan waters were still able to support the life of kerang darah (A. granosa). The type of sediment in these waters is dominated by sandy mud. The average diameter of sediments (Mz) 3-7.7 Ø with classification as very fine sand-very fine silt. The highest average content of organic sediment is found at station 2 (13.70%) which is located around the mangrove forest which is included in the classification of medium organic matter. The highest average value of kerang darah (A. granosa) abundance is at station 4 (54 ind/m2), with a clustered distribution pattern at all stations. The relationship between sediment characteristics and abundance of kerang darah (A. granosa) in Tanjung Balai Asahan waters is classified as a strong relationship with a determination coefficient (R2) of 0.529, this means that the size of sediment particles 52.9% affects the abundance of kerang darah (A. granosa) throughout the station while the remaining 41.7% are influenced by other factors not examined. The relationship of the content of organic matter with the abundance of kerang darah (A. granosa) is classified as a weak relationship, with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.004, meaning that the content of 0.4% sediment affects the abundance of kerang darah (A. granosa) throughout the temporary station 99.6% is influenced by other factors not examine.

Abstract

This research was conducted in October 2018 at the West Rangsang Beach Waters, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. This study aims to determine changes in shoreline that occurred in West Rangsang Sub-District in the last 10 years and the implementation of marine law regarding the regulation of shoreline change problems. Results of processing Landsat 5 and Landsat 8 images with large Changes in the coastline in the Melai Village were 55.56 m (accretion), in the Village of Kedabu Rapat as much as 50.94 m (abrasion) and in the village Bungur at 42.10 m (abrasion). The implementation of the law of the sea according to article 15 of UNCLOS 1982 in the determination of territorial sea areas adjacent to other countries decided the law No. 2 of 1971 concerning the determination of the borders of the two countries in the Malacca Strait. Determination of these coordinates are based on the baseline of each country. With the enactment of the 1982 International Law on the Law of the Sea, the Republic of Indonesia Government Regulation No. 38 of 2002 stipulated a list of geographical coordinates of the baseline points of the Indonesian archipelago. With the determination of geographical coordinates the problems in the changes in the coastline of the countries of Indonesia and Malaysia as a result of abrasion and accretion can be solved by observing the geographical coordinate points on the island of Rangsang

Abstract

Padang City is one of the cities with a long coastline. The Padang City government has made many reforms to manage the beach area as a tourist attraction. This research aimed to determine the comparison of macrozoobenthos community structure, including species composition, species abundance, relative abundance, diversity index, similarity index, dominance index, and distribution patterns in the reclaimed and natural beaches of Padang City, West Sumatra Province. The method used was purposive sampling with sample collection using the transect method. The results of this study indicate that the water quality in Padang City, West Sumatra, is sufficiently good to support macrozoobenthos life. The highest species abundance of macrozoobenthos was found at the Reclamation Beach Station. The macrozoobenthos species found belong to 2 classes: Gastropoda and Crustacea. The Gastropoda class consists of 4 species: Babylonia spirata, Pila ampullacea, Pila occidentalis, and Nerita fulgurans, while from the Crustacea class, three species were found: Ashtoret lunaris, Hemigrapsus takanoi, and Emerita sp. Meanwhile, the lowest abundance was found at the Natural Beach Station, where the species belonging to the Crustacea class, specifically H.takanoi, was found. The species diversity of macrozoobenthos at the Natural Beach Station is considered low but moderate at the Reclamation Beach Station. Similarity at the Natural Beach Station is low, while at the Reclamation Beach Station, it is high. Additionally, there is a dominant species at the Natural Beach Station, whereas no dominant species were found at the Reclamation Beach Station. Abstract

The study about habitat characteristics and population structure razor clam (Solen lamarckii, Chenu 1984) in intertidal zone Apiapi Village Bandar Laksamana District Bengkalis Regency conducted on January 2020. The purpose of this study was to analyze about habitat characteristics and population structure of razor clam and the correlation between substrate particle size and population density of razor clam. The habitat parameters measured include the physical and chemical parameters of sea waters. Determination of the station using purposive sampling method. Razor clam samples were collected by using a 1 x 1 m2 frame that laid along a transect. There were 4 plots and 3 subplots along the transect as replications. The result showed, the sediment tipe was sandy substrate, organic material was low, total suspended solid was high. Population density of razor clams was 3.3-23.3 Ind/m2. The distribution pattern of razor clams through each plot was uniform. While, the most common size of razor clam 5.04-5.62 cm. The correlation between particle size and population density of razor clam was strong

Abstract

The research was carried out in January 2024 at the coastal waters of Padang City, West Sumatera Province. This research aims to determine the structure of the macrozoobenthos community as a bioindicator of water quality on the beaches of Padang City. Purposive sampling was used to get the sample, and then data was analyzed using FBI methods. (Family Biotic Index). The research results using FBI calculations show that Station 1 is in a good category with a score of 4.73, Station 2 is in the good category with a score of 4.71, and Station 3 is in the relatively poor category with a score of 6. Thus, the water quality based on macrozoobenthos as bioindicators of the coastal waters of Padang City, with an FBI value, was found to have an average of 5.14, which falls into the moderate category

Abstract

Linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) is the main component of dispersants that function as cleaners of various materials. The increasing use of LAS causes this compound to dominantly pollute coastal waters. Phytoremediation is the most environmentally safe alternative to physical and chemical methods. One of the potential plants as a phytoremediator is Rhizophora mucronata. This research is an experiment as an application of LAS pollutant control by R.mucronata plants in waters. After acclimatization and preliminary tests, the implementation of LAS phytoremediation tests by R. mucronata plants in seawater media was carried out at concentrations of A1: 25 mg/L, A2: 100 mg/L, A3: 175 mg/L, A4: 250 mg/L, and A5: 325 mg/L and control (Control without plants) as a simulation of the presence of pollutants in coastal waters. The method used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with one treatment and 3 replications. The reduction of LAS concentration in the test media and its effect on R.mucronata leaf chlorophyll and dissolved oxygen were analyzed at week 2 to week 4. The analysis results showed that LAS compounds could be reduced to 91.48% at week 2 and 97.40% at week 4. Plant Water quality parameters (dissolved oxygen, temperature and pH) were measured daily. Based on the study results, LAS can be reduced by R.mucronata plants 87-90.4% in week 2 and 95.1-97.4% in week 4. LAS exclusion by plants had a significant impact on the reduction of leaf chlorophyll content until week 4. LAS reduction by R.mucronata in the media can increase dissolved oxygen content as an indication of improved water quality. R.mucronata plants can be used as an alternative to control LAS pollution in waters

Abstract

Intensive observation of gastropods, every March from the year 2008 to the year 2012, was carried out to document some indicators of gastropod extinction. The purposive sampling technic was used in this work. The physicochemical parameters of its habitat were also monitored during every sampling done. It was found that the intertidal substrate consist of sand, while the habitat parameters were more than 5,6 mg/L dissolved oxygen, pH around 7,0-7,2, salinity 30,2-32,2 ppt, temperature 28,6-29,60C, the visibility 100%. The number of species, the number of found gastropods, the abundance, and the maximum shell size of found gastropods showed decreasing from year to year, while routine collecting by the visitor and the marine organism shell collector, and the disturbance by the fisherman activities occurred. This indication showed a tendency for gastropods extinction.

Abstract

This study was conducted in March 2023 at Tiram Beach, Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra Province. This study aims to determine the diversity and distribution patterns of gastropods in the mangrove area of Tiram Beach, Padang Pariaman Regency. The method used in this study was a survey method that involved direct observation of the study area, after which samples were analyzed in the laboratory. Gastropod sampling sites in the mangrove area were determined by targeted sampling consisting of 3 (three) stations at each station with three transects with 5 square plots of 1x1 m² spaced 10 m each. The results showed that the gastropod diversity in the Tiram Beach mangrove area was included in the low and medium categories. Gastropod distribution patterns at each station are categorized as clustered. Sediment organic matter in the Tiram Beach mangrove area achieved the highest average value of 4.52-22.13%. The sediment fraction at each station is silty sand and gravelly sand.
