Abstract

This study aims to determine the strength and durability of ambulance manhole structures intended for emergency situations in mining areas. The research includes a literature review, direct calculation of manhole dimensions, design development, material selection, and loading simulation using SolidWorks 2021 software. The evaluated parameters are von Mises stress, deformation, and safety factor. Three variations of manhole designs and three types of materials—ASTM A500, Galvanized Steel, and JIS G34445 STKM 13B—are considered. Simulation results are presented in tabular form. The optimal design and material identified is Design 2, which exhibits von Mises stress of 3.759 MPa, deformation of 1.749 mm, and a safety factor of 8.1.

Abstract

Three-dimensional (3D) scanning technology is pivotal in manufacturing, product design, and architecture, enabling precise digital reconstructions of real-world objects. However, existing 3D scanners are often costly and complex, hindering accessibility. To address this, our study presents a cost-effective 3D scanning system using Arduino technology. Utilizing an Arduino Nano, GP2Y0A21YK0F IR Sensor, stepper motors, motor drivers, and an SD card module, our system offers a simple solution for scanning small objects and creating 3D models. The scanner measures object distance, rotates a work table, and captures scan data, processed with MeshLab software. Successful scanning demonstrates affordability and automation. Future work will focus on optimizing accuracy and scanning speed.

Abstract

The main issue faced by our partners is regarding the skin drying method for livestock feed raw materials. Until now, the applied drying method still relies on sunlight exposure. Many consider this method inefficient in terms of time and energy usage. The drying process takes several days. During the rainy season, drying becomes challenging, requiring repeated sun-drying for cassava skins to achieve thorough dryness. Production costs also increase. Moreover, there is room for improvement in the marketing process to boost the partner's business turnover. As a solution, the partners have adopted the use of a rotary dryer machine to replace the sunlight-based drying method. The partner's skills in using the rotary dryer machine and in marketing their products through digital marketing methods have also improved. According to our calculations, the partner's revenue target of 12,000,000 per year can be achieved. One of the supportive factors for implementing these activities is the partner's high level of cooperation during the execution of this service. This is evident through their timely attendance at events, contribution to the provision of cassava skin test materials, assistance with equipment shortages, and so forth.

Abstract

Robot technology has penetrated various sectors, including households. One example of robotic innovation for household needs is the vacuum cleaner robot. This research aims to optimize sensor usage while implementing a differential drive system using a tricycle platform consisting of one caster wheel and two differential wheels. Testing was conducted in a space measuring 150 cm × 130 cm with obstacles such as a four-legged chair, cracker crumbs, sunflower seed husks, small pieces of paper, and a handful of dust (flour). The results showed that the robot could navigate quite smoothly and optimally even only using an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor. However, more complex challenges within households, such as getting stuck in carpet rolls, handling various types of trash or debris, or moving in narrow spaces, are still aspects that this robot has not fully addressed

Abstract

Perisai kolong mobil merupakan salah satu komponen yang digunakan untuk melindungi kendaraan angkutan ringan. Kurangnya perawatan dapat menimbulkan korosi yang dapat menimbulkan kerusakan pada perisai kolong mobil, sehingga dapat mempersingkat masa pakai perisai kolong mobil. Korosi terjadi pada perisai kolong mobil dapat menyebabkan pengeroposan pada perisai kolong mobil, sehingga perisai menjadi rapuh dan mudah patah atau putus. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menghambat laju korosi pada perisai kolong mobil. Spesimen material perisai kolong mobil yang digunakan baja SPHC JIS G3131. Penelitian dilakukan pengecatan powder coating pada baja SPHC untuk menganalisis kerekatan dan laju korosinya. Variasi peyemprotan dalam penelitian ini yaitu 15 cm, 20 cm, dan 25 cm. Hasil pengujian kerekatan cat dengam metode pengujian pull off adhesion didapatkan hasil pengukuran paling efektif pada variasi 25 cm dengan nilai 0,56 Mpa. Hasil uji laju korosi dengan metode EIS efektif pada variasi 25 cm dengan nilai korosinya -41267ohm.cm2. Penelitian baja SPHC dengan dilakukannya pelapisan cat powder coating dapat menurunkan nilai laju korosi dan memperpanjang umur baja SPHC.

Abstract

The development of technology in the world is growing rapidly, so that technology is able to make everything that is done faster and more effective, such as technology that is developing in the coffee industry. Manual espresso machines are done using human power, so there are limitations to the power needed to make espresso in large quantities at once and lack of time efficiency. This pneumatic system allows for more responsive pressure control compared to manual systems. The Pneumatic Pre-Charge (PCP) system is a system that utilizes natural resources as its main energy source in renewable energy systems such as air. The method used to achieve a more optimal manual espresso machine is to use an experimental research method to test the performance of the espresso machine designed from a combination of a PCP system through empirical data collection to measure how efficient the machine is. The design process produces a manual espresso machine design which can then be developed into a espresso machine. Testing was carried out as many as 210 cycles and was divided into 3 stages of testing, namely a 360 cc cylinder capacity with a pressure of 2700 psi capable of pressing an average of 70 times, showing that the coarser the grind size of the coffee powder used, the time and pressure required will be reduced by requiring a pressure of 35 psi. From the results of this study, further testing is needed on the use of a PCP system espresso machine to validate its usefulness in supporting the needs of making espresso in the coffee industry.

Abstract

Technological developments continue to increase in line with the times, producing various innovations that provide benefits to society, especially in the material sector. The use of a mixture of natural and synthetic fibers in composites (hybrid) has produced a stronger material, which can function as an alternative material for car bumpers. This research was carried out with the aim of determining the values ​​of impact toughness, tensile strength, and failure patterns that occur in the fracture cross section of the specimen through macro photographs. In this research, a hybrid composite was formed by combining ampelous bamboo fiber, fiberglass, and polyester resin. Variations in volume fraction applied include: 5%:25%:70%, 10%:25%:65%, and 15%:25%:60%. The specimens were formed according to ASTM E23 standards for impact tests and ASTM D638 for tensile tests. The results of the impact and tensile tests showed that the lowest value of impact toughness was 0.0744 J/mm² and tensile stress was 120.29 MPa. Meanwhile, the highest value for impact toughness was 0.0986 J/mm² and the tensile stress value was 147.65 MPa. Macro photo analysis of the fracture cross section is categorized as splitting in multiple areas and the fracture cross section also shows debonding and fiber pull out after the fracture occurred.

Abstract

Frame kendaraan merupakan rangka yang berfungsi sebagai penopang berat kendaraan, mesin penumpang, serta beban-beban lain. Saat proses manufaktur, body kendaraan dibentuk sesuai dengan struktur frame-nya. Perancangan desain frame yang tepat memegang peran penting atas pendistribusian beban dan kekuatan dari frame tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk merancang frame kendaraan mobil hemat energi pada kategori prototype dengan simulasi pembebanan statis. Pada analisis pembebanan statis dapat berupa distribusi tegangan pada von mises stress, displacement, dan dengan safety factor memperhatikan mass frame. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah menggunakan software solidworks 2022.  Menggunakan dua variasi desain frame. Keduanya diberi beban yang sama yaitu 500N pada tempat duduk pengemudi, 700N pada roll bar, 200N pada tempat mesin. Tahanan pada rangka yaitu dibagian roda depan dan roda belakang. Hasil menunjukkan  bahwa frame A dengan  dasar desain ladder frame adalah frame paling ringan dan kuat dilihat dari nilai mass sebesar 8 kg memiliki nilai safety of factor 2.

Abstract

Heat exchanger adalah mesin penukar panas yang berfungsi untuk mengubah suhu dan fasa suatu fluida, baik dari panas ke dingin maupun sebaliknya. Mesin ini banyak digunakan di industri pengolahan minyak dan gas, pembangkit listrik, serta industri kimia. Untuk meningkatkan kinerja dan efisiensi, dilakukan penelitian dengan mendesain sudut baffle sebesar 180°, 200°, dan 220°. Penelitian ini menggunakan simulasi perangkat lunak Ansys Workbench R2 dan perhitungan matematis. Luas permukaan heat exchanger terbesar ditemukan pada variasi sudut 220° dengan luas 8,17 m². Nilai LMTD tertinggi dicapai pada sudut 180° dengan suhu 74,4?C, yang juga menghasilkan distribusi perpindahan panas dan efisiensi optimal sebesar 83,845%, berkat tingkat turbulen 6026,6 yang menjaga aliran fluida tetap stabil. Penurunan tekanan tertinggi terjadi pada sudut 180°, dengan nilai tekanan masuk minyak 120 Pa dan air 0,915 Pa. Besar perpindahan panas tercatat sebesar 7615,840 W/m²°C. Dengan demikian, semakin kecil sudut baffle, semakin besar perpindahan kalor yang terjadi.

Abstract

Aluminum Alloy 6061 is widely used in various engineering applications, including automotive vehicle wheels. The selection of aluminum alloy wheels involves aspects such as corrosion resistance. To enhance corrosion resistance, there are several methods, one of which is anodizing. Anodizing is a process that involves an electrolytic coating process that transforms the surface of aluminum into aluminum oxide (Al2O3), which the main process of aluminum anodizing requires a solution of sulfuric acid, chromic acid, or a mixture of sulfuric acid and oxalic acid. The sulfuric acid used must be concentrated acid, and acid is an oxidizing substance. The thickness of the oxide is approximately twice the thickness of the lost aluminum. The purpose of this research is to determine the characteristic such as surface roughness values, corrosion rates, and changes in morphology in Aluminum 6061 after undergoing anodizing. In this study, various current strengths were used, namely 0.75 Amperes, 1.5 Amperes, 2.25 Amperes, and 3 Amperes. The highest surface roughness value was obtained at 0.447 μm in the third specimen of the 0.75 Ampere variation, while the lowest was 0.075 μm in the first specimen of the 3 Ampere variation. The highest corrosion rate was observed in the 0.75 Ampere variation, with a rate of 17.724004 mpy, and the lowest was 0.0731653 mpy in the 3 Ampere variation. SEM results show that, in general, Aluminum 6061 tends to have a bright gray color, which is a surface that has been coated by cathode.
