Abstract

Garbage is a problem that is still ongoing today. Based on data from the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia, there is the province of Central Java as the highest waste generation in 2022. Therefore, it is necessary to have waste management activities so that they do not have an impact on the environment. One of the community groups that has carried out this activity is the Real Berkah Garbage Bank group located in Pandes Village, Wedi District, Klaten Regency, Central Java Province. The group has been processing organic waste and inorganic waste. However, the management stopped, because one part of the waste processing machine was permanently damaged. So there is a need for a new engine replacement. To prevent this from happening again, community service activities are also needed to increase the level of public understanding in theory and practice. The method used in this community service activity is the lecture method and the practical method. Through this community service activity, there was an increase in the level of understanding of the lecture method by 80% and an increase in the level of understanding of the practical method by 55%.

Abstract

Biocomposite material is a common material used in biomedical application. One of medical problems related to bone restoration which caused by accidents and injuries resulted in fracture bone parts. Biocomposite (Sagoo/PMMA) is being developed as a solution to solve that particular problem. In current research, tensile and flexural strength of sagoo/PMMA is tested and examined. There are correlation between value of tensile strength, value of bending strength, and curing time, with maximum tensile strength and bending strength were achieved by curing the specimen for 12 hours, with the maximum value of tensile strength is 3,337 MPa, and the maximum flexural is 2,653 MPa. The minimum tensile strength was achieved by curing the specimen for 6 hours with minimum value of tensile strength is 1,502 MPa, while the minimum flexural was acquired at curing time for 24 hours with minimum of bending strength is 0,536 MPa

Abstract

This research focuses on manufacturing composite wings using the vacuum bag process. The vacuum bag method is used because it can reduce manufacturing time and improve the quality of the final product. This study aims to determine the impact of the vacuum bag method on the geometry between the design stages and the final results of the UAV wing. Differences in design geometry and final results are calculated by measurement. The effects of variations in thickness and loading were estimated by modeling simulations with Fusion360 Software. The geometry of the design stage and the final result did not have a significant change, with a difference of 10% in thickness, 2.45% in wing length, and 0.80% in wing width. For deformation, it can be concluded that the increase in thickness and loading is directly proportional to the magnitude of the deformation that occurs. The greater the value of thickness and loading, the greater the deformation that occurs.

Abstract

Piyungan Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST) is a waste disposal site in Yogyakarta province. With an estimated increase in the amount of waste of 8% per year, it is estimated that the TPST will not be able to accommodate waste from the community. One of these wastes is PET bottle. This research aims to develop a new recycling method by converting PET plastic waste into 3D Printer machine filament and investigate the opportunity of this PET filament. This research uses several stage methods: PET filament making, Tensile test, macroscopy photography and opportunity analysis. This study concludes that PET bottle waste can be used as 3D printer filament with a diameter of 1.7 mm. Processing PET bottle waste into 3D printer machine filament can increase the economic value of PET bottle waste. And this can contribute to the potential for processing plastic bottle waste.

Abstract

Aluminum is one of the most widely used materials today due to several advantages, including its lightweight nature, relatively high tensile strength, good formability, corrosion resistance, and non-magnetic properties, making it a preferred choice in industries such as aerospace. However, metals, including 7075 aluminum alloy commonly used in the aerospace industry, are still susceptible to corrosion in corrosive environments. One effective method to control corrosion is the use of inhibitors. An inhibitor is a chemical substance that, when added in small amounts to a corrosive environment, can effectively slow down or reduce the corrosion rate. This study investigates the corrosion rate using the potentiodynamic polarization method (Tafel plot) in seawater from Parangtritis Beach and rainwater from Yogyakarta City. The inorganic inhibitor used in this research is K₂CrO₄ with a concentration of 0.3%. The results show that the corrosion rate in seawater without inhibitors (pH 7.34) is 0.027799 mm/yr, while with inhibitors (pH 7.50), it decreases to 0.0053243 mm/yr. Similarly, the corrosion rate in rainwater without inhibitors (pH 6.66) is 0.0021987 mm/yr, while with inhibitors (pH 7.74), it reduces to 0.0017807 mm/yr. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of K₂CrO₄ inhibitors in minimizing corrosion rates in both seawater and rainwater environments.

Abstract

The application of solar power plant technology as a backup power source at Hidayatullah Islamic Boarding School, Yogyakarta, aims to address the challenges caused by disrupted electricity supply. This Islamic boarding school has a strategic location due to its close access to the city center of Yogyakarta. The school relies on electricity for its educational and worship activities. A study was conducted to assess the potential of solar energy, geographical conditions, and the readiness of Hidayatullah Islamic Boarding School to adopt renewable energy technology. After the assessment, structured implementation activities, such as awareness socialization, training, and direct assistance, were carried out to ensure the management of the solar power system by the school administration. The results of the Community Service program showed that a solar power system had successfully been implemented to address disruptions during power outages, thereby improving worship and educational activities. This program encourages partner involvement and environmental awareness among the school management and students. Recommendations for ensuring the program’s sustainability include training, routine performance evaluations, and potential partnerships with government and private organizations to promote the use of renewable energy. This successful program is expected to serve as a model for other educational institutions seeking to implement renewable energy technology. Abstract

This program aims to enhance educational services and literacy knowledge among early childhood students at Akar Tumbuh Melati School through the implementation of appropriate technology (Smart Perpustakaan). The activities were carried out in five stages: socialization, training, technology implementation, assistance, and evaluation with sustainability measures. The Smart Perpustakaan technology includes a library space, an encyclopedia book collection, virtual reality (VR) videos for interactive reading activities, and Cardboard VR devices. The results show a 92% increase in digital literacy knowledge and a 33.33% improvement in the quality of educational services. This program successfully reduced children's dependency on non-educational digital content and opened opportunities for sustainable collaboration with related stakeholders. Abstract

Mesin pengaduk gula aren merupakan peralatan penting dalam industri pengolahan gula aren. Kinerja optimal dari mesin ini sangat bergantung pada kekuatan dan ketahanan rangka mesin. Getaran yang berlebihan akibat frekuensi natural yang rendah dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada komponen mesin, mengurangi efisiensi produksi, dan bahkan menimbulkan bahaya bagi operator. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memahami perilaku struktural rangka mesin pengaduk gula aren di bawah beban kerja yang sebenarnya. Material yang digunakan adalah 1060 alloy dengan analisis frekuensi natural menggunakan metode Finite Element Analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk mode 5, dengan frekuensi 54,744 Hz, mengalami perubahan resonansi tertinggi, yang menimbulkan risiko signifikan berupa getaran yang diperkuat dan potensi kegagalan struktural, sedangkan bentuk 1, pada 10,772 Hz, menunjukkan perubahan resonansi terendah, yang dicirikan oleh pola gerakan yang lebih sederhana, dengan melakukan simulasi frekuensi alami dalam desain struktural pada mesin pengaduk gula aren maka kita dapat mengetahui berbagai mode bentuk resonansi, sehingga para engineer dapat memperhitungkan tingkat keselamatan pengguna, dan memastikan keawetan struktur desain melalui pemilihan material yang tepat, strategi peredaman yang efektif, dan pemantauan berkelanjutan

Abstract

Penggunaan rem yang berulang-ulang menyebabkan komponen rem menghasilkan panas yang lebih tinggi daripada kemampuannya untuk menghilangkan panas. Panas yang berlebihan yang terjadi pada komponen pengereman akan menurunkan kinerja rem. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk untuk memahami karakteristik distribusi panas, distribusi tegangan, dan deformasi struktural. Material yang digunakan adalah structural steel dengan analisis steady state dan satructural menggunakan metode Finite Element Analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa distribusi suhu maksimum mencapai 100,01 °C dan nilai fluks panas yang signifikan yakni sebesar 1,9955e5 W/m², yang mengindikasikan adanya potensi titik panas yang perlu diperhatikan. Nilai deformasi sebesar 0,00031935m artinya terjadinya deformasi sangat kecil, dan material tersebut cukup kuat untuk menahan beban tanpa mengalami perubahan bentuk yang signifikan. Nilai stres ekuivalen yang tinggi sebesar 2,9355e9 Pa, menandakan bahwa beberapa area berisiko mengalami kegagalan. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk mempertimbangkan modifikasi desain atau pemilihan material yang lebih kuat, serta melakukan pengujian fisik untuk memvalidasi hasil simulasi dalam kondisi nyata

Abstract

Banjarsari Village has several advantages that can be used as a tourist destination. Assistance activities aim to make this tourism potential is better known to the public, it will allow the growth of tourists so that it can increase income. This community service program was carried out in November 2023 through identifying problems, designing solutions and implementing solutions in the form of outreach and training in managing websites and social media. The social media recommended for use as marketing media are Tiktok, Instagram and Youtube. This activity encourages the people of Banjarsari Village to be more familiar with digital media so they can manage social media and websites with interesting content to promote tourism in Banjarsari Village. Participants know the function and use of websites and social media as digital marketing tools regarding Banjarsari Village tourism. Marketing MSME products via social media can increase partner sales by 41.67% for average sales per week.
