Abstract

Nursing is one of the stressful professions. Stress emerged on nurses due to various factors, They have affected nurses in the form of tiredness, harsh behavior, anxiety, increase of blood pressure, lack of self-confidence, lack of job satisfaction, decrease in efficiency, etc. The Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ) is one of a few research-based instruments that have been developed for use at workplaces as well as for research purposes. The instrument is internationally recognized as a risk assessment tool by both the International Labour Organization and the World Health Organization and is used in workplace surveys worldwide for work environment development and follow-up of organizational changes. This study aims to analyze the validity and reliability of the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ III) on Nurse at RSUD X. The study design is cross-sectional. Determination of the sample of this study using simple random sampling method of Nurse in RSUD X, The questionnaire was based on COPSOQ III scales, Validity and Reliability tests using Pearson Product Moment and Cronbach's alpha.

Abstract

Debu sering dianggap sebagai hal yang mengganggu, namun dalam konteks industri, debu bisa menjadi masalah yang lebih serius karena berpotensi menyebabkan ledakan. Bahkan, dalam jumlah kecil sekalipun, debu dapat memicu terjadinya ledakan. Hal ini sesuai dengan ketentuan dalam UU No 1 tahun 1970 yang menekankan pentingnya memperhatikan potensi ledakan di tempat kerja berdasarkan kejadian dust explosion pada perusahaan pakan ternak pada tahun 2024. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini diselenggarakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran peserta webinar tentang bahaya ledakan debu di lingkungan kerja. Kegiatan ini dilakukan secara daring melalui platform zoom pada bulan Agustus 2023, dengan mengundang pekerja profesional, calon pekerja fresh graduate, serta peserta lain yang tertarik dengan topik ledakan debu di tempat kerja. Sebanyak 16 peserta mengikuti webinar ini untuk mengevaluasi tingkat pengetahuan mereka terkait bahaya ledakan debu. Metode pengabdian yang diterapkan adalah presentasi mengenai ledakan debu di tempat kerja, diikuti dengan sesi diskusi tanya jawab. Selain itu, pretest dan posttest diberikan untuk mengukur tingkat pengetahuan peserta sebelum dan setelah materi disampaikan. Hasil yang didapat menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan di antara peserta, dengan persentase pengetahuan yang tercatat meningkat terhadap pengetahuan tentang pencegahan ledakan debu sebanyak 88%, penyebab ledakan debu sebanyak 75%, dan sifat ledakan debu sebanyak 69% setelah mengikuti presentasi.

Abstract

The members of the farmer group (Gapoktan) often report experiencing lower back pain, which is suspected to be related to work activities performed in a non-ergonomic manner. This is supported by data from the Self - Awareness Survey, which revealed that within a week, farmers can carry loads weighing between 0–100 kg directly by lifting them on their shoulders. This condition leads to symptoms of Low Back Pain (LBP), a common musculoskeletal disorder resulting from improper body posture during work. LBP is characterized by pain in the lower back area and can be caused by various factors such as congenital spinal abnormalities, physical trauma, changes in body tissue, or excessive weight-bearing. Although it is more commonly experienced by the elderly, LBP can also affect younger individuals. As an effort to enhance farmers’ understanding and awareness of LBP, a community service activity was conducted in November 2024. This event was attended by 16 local farmers. The method of implementation included a presentation on LBP, followed by a discussion and Q&A session. Additionally, pre-tests and post-tests were administered to assess participants’ knowledge before and after the session. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge scores. This was evidenced by a statistically significant difference between the pretest and post-test scores, with a p-value of 0.001. Through this socialization exercise, it is intended that participants would learn more about low back pain.

Abstract

Chronic exposure to cotton dust in the textile manufacturing industry has been a possible risk factor for pulmonary obstruction. Not many studies, however, have investigated its impact in combination with personal variables like age, gender, and length of service, particularly in developing countries. The present study investigated the impact of cotton dust exposure, age, gender, and length of service on the incidence of pulmonary obstruction among textile workers in Surakarta, Indonesia. Observational analytic study using cross-sectional design was done on 88 eligible workers. Quantitation of exposure to cotton dust was done with a High-Volume Air Sampler and lung function ascertained using spirometry. Data analysis was done through simple and multiple binary logistic regression at a significance level of 0.05. The incidence of pulmonary obstruction was 56.8%. Being exposed to cotton dust levels exceeding the threshold limit value (TLV) of 0.2 mg/m³ significantly increased the risk of pulmonary obstruction (OR: 4.18; 95% CI: 1.51–11.63; p=0.006). Employment duration was also significantly associated with pulmonary obstruction (OR: 1.21 per year; 95% CI: 1.03–1.44; p=0.023), while age and gender were not significant predictors. The accuracy of the final model was 75%, which is considered to be acceptable in occupational health studies in predictive modeling. The current research reaffirms that long-term exposure to cotton dust and extended working hours are critical risk factors for pulmonary obstruction in textile industry workers. Therefore, it is recommended to long-working-hour employees to have proper control of the exposure and continuous lung function monitoring.

Abstract

Perawat merupakan profesi yang rentan mengalami distres akibat tingginya beban kerja dan tekanan emosional dalam menjalankan tugas. Distres yang dialami perawat dapat berdampak negatif terhadap kualitas hidup serta mutu pelayanan kesehatan yang diberikan kepada pasien. Beban kerja yang tinggi dan rendahnya dukungan sosial merupakan faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap meningkatnya tingkat distres. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara beban kerja dan dukungan sosial dengan tingkat distres pada perawat di RS X Tembilahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain cross-sectional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 135 perawat. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa kuesioner untuk mengukur beban kerja, dukungan sosial, dan tingkat distres. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji chi-square untuk melihat hubungan antar variabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar perawat mengalami beban kerja yang tinggi (85,9%) dan menerima dukungan sosial yang baik dari supervisor (93,3%) maupun rekan kerja (98,5%). Analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara beban kerja dengan tingkat distres (p < 0,05), sedangkan dukungan sosial dari supervisor maupun rekan kerja tidak menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan dengan distres (p > 0,05). Beban kerja yang tinggi berhubungan dengan peningkatan tingkat distres pada perawat, sementara dukungan sosial belum menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan intervensi organisasi untuk mengelola beban kerja secara efektif guna menurunkan tingkat distres pada tenaga keperawatan

Abstract

In addressing workplace safety within PT. Panca Bintang Tunggal, a qualitative approach was employed to explore the integration of fire prevention strategies with industrial hygiene. This research distinguishes itself from existing literature by focusing specifically on the integration of fire prevention strategies with industrial hygiene practices tailored for PT. Panca Bintang Tunggal. Previous studies often address these areas in isolation, neglecting the synergistic benefits of their integration. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with 50 participants, including safety officers, production managers, and frontline workers. This diverse participant pool ensures a comprehensive perspective on safety practices and fire hazards prevalent in the workplace. The data analysis involved thematic coding, where responses were categorised into key themes such as risk perception, existing safety measures, and the effectiveness of current fire prevention strategies. Thematic analysis is particularly valuable in qualitative research as it helps in identifying patterns and insights that quantitative methods may overlook. The findings indicate a pressing need for integrated training programs that encompass both fire prevention and industrial hygiene practices. For example, implementing regular fire drills alongside hygiene training can reinforce the importance of safety protocols, fostering a culture of safety within the organisation. As noted by the National Fire Protection Association, organisations with comprehensive training programmes significantly reduce the incidence of workplace fires.

Abstract

Workplace stress can be described as the result of physical and emotional responses that occur when the demands of the job and the individual's ability to meet those demands differ. One profession at risk of experiencing workplace stress is nursing. Stress is divided into two types: eustress and distress. Distress in nurses can be caused by various factors, one of which is individual characteristics (such as gender, age, employment status, and length of service). Distress can lead to illness, absenteeism, and reduced work performance. Therefore, serious attention is needed from both workers and organizations. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of individual characteristics on distress among nurses in the treatment room at X Hospital Tembilahan. This study uses a cross-sectional design conducted from May to August 2022. The population in this study consists of all nurses working in the treatment room at X Hospital Tembilahan. Distress was measured using the COPSOQ III questionnaire and the NIOSH Generic Job Stress questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Chi-square. The results of the statistical test for the gender variable showed a p-value of 0.031, indicating a significant effect of gender on the level of distress. The conclusion of the study, it was found that gender has an influence on the level of distress.

Abstract

Stres kerja merupakan kondisi psikologis yang muncul akibat ketidakseimbangan antara tuntutan pekerjaan dan kemampuan individu dalam menghadapinya. Profesi yang berisiko mengalami stres di tempat kerja salah satunya adalah dosen wanita. Stres kerja berdampak pada kesehatan mental dosen wanita, terutama dalam lingkungan kerja yang menuntut seperti perguruan tinggi. Dosen wanita sering menghadapi tekanan kerja yang tinggi akibat tuntutan profesional, tanggung jawab ganda, serta tekanan sosial, yang berpotensi meningkatkan tingkat stres. Stres pada dosen dapat disebabkan oleh berbagai faktor, salah satunya masa kerja dan beban kerja mental. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui hubungan masa kerja dan beban kerja mental dengan stres kerja dosen wanita di Universitas X Surabaya. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu 97 responden. Stres diukur menggunakan kuesioner stres kerja. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji contingency cramer’s v dan uji koefisien phi. Berdasarkan uji statistik pada variabel masa kerja diperoleh hasil signifikansi sebesar 0,426 dan pada variabel beban kerja mental didapatkan hasil signifikansi sebesar 0,000. Berdasarkan hasil kesimpulan, tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara masa kerja dengan stres kerja akan tetapi terdapat hubungan antara beban kerja mental dengan stres kerja.

Abstract

Introduction: Garment sewing employees are exposed to great fatigue factors of long-term static and monotonous works, which affect their productivity and safety. Although Work-Fit Stretching has been proven to be effective in the alleviation of muscle fatigue, possibilities are scarce regarding sewing workers in developing nations. The paper is a review of the impact of ergonomics-predicting stretching action as a time step fatigue action. Methods: This is a randomized controlled trial study with 128 sewing operators utilized, who were distributed in a Work-Fit Stretching group and a control group. The intervention took one month that consisted of two sessions a day, five days per week. The reaction timer was used three times to measure occupational fatigue and analyzed in SPSS by independent t-tests and Repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The findings indicated that Work-Fit Stretching program work-depressed the occupational fatigue in sewing workers. A statistically significant difference was observed between the intervention and the control groups in the post-test measurement (p < 0.001), the effect sizes were medium to large (0.670 to 1.117 according to Cohen). Repeated Measures ANCOVA has shown a significant aspect of decreasing the fatigue as the time goes by (p < 0.001; Partial Eta 2 = 0.218), which indicates that the intervention was both statistically and practically effective. Conclusion: Use of Ergonomic-based stretching was very useful in eradicating work fatigue of the sewing operators with moderate-to-large effects maintained across age and years to service. The method is easy and applicable in difficult routine working environments.

Abstract

Work stress in the workplace is an important issue that requires special attention, because if not properly managed, it can lead to various serious symptoms that affect employees’ health, productivity, and capability. The aims of research to analyze the relationship between fatigue and work stress. Methods: This research used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design approach. The study was conducted from April to June 2025. The sampling technique used was random sampling with a sample of 41 respondents. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Work stress was experienced by 46.34% of workers, and 48.78% experienced fatigue. Among those who were fatigued, 34.15% experienced work stress and 12.20% of non-fatigued workers experienced work stress. Meanwhile, 39.02% of non-fatigued workers did not experience work stress, and 14.63% of fatigued workers did not experience work stress. The significance test result showed p = 0.004, indicating that fatigue is related with work stress among textile workers.
