Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of local history in enhancing the social literacy of students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang. Local history is viewed as a rich learning resource containing social, cultural, and moral values that can strengthen students’ understanding of the social realities in their environment. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis involving students engaged in learning activities and student programs based on local history. The findings show that student involvement in learning local history fosters the development of empathy, social awareness, and participatory attitudes in community life. Narratives of local history that reflect values such as mutual cooperation, solidarity, and collective struggle contribute to shaping students’ social literacy in a more contextual and reflective manner. This study recommends integrating local history into the curriculum and strengthening partnerships between universities and local communities as a strategy for developing students’ character education and social literacy.

Abstract

In realizing a library that is appropriate to its function and roles, the library requires management that is suitable to the national library standards in managing library. The purpose of this study is to describe the library management strategy at SD Inpress Baruppu, Pinrang Regency. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data was gathered from the library manager and the principal. Data collection procedures use observation techniques, structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis consists of data reduction, data display and verification. The findings showed that the library manager at this school had compiled a daily work program, short-term, medium-term, and long-term. To carry out all these work programs, the principal forms the organizational structure of the library manager as the authority of daily activities along with the description of the duties of each part or work function contained therein. The principal conducts an evaluation with the aim of knowing the work achievements of various predetermined programs that will be used as input for improving the library organization in the following academic years. Abstrak Dalam mewujudkan perpustakaan yang sesuai dengan fungsi dan perannya, perpustakaan memerlukan suatu manajemen yang sesuai dengan standar nasional perpustakaan dalam mengelola perpustakaan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan strategi pengelolaan perpustakaan di SD Inpres Baruppu Kabupaten Pinrang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Sebagai sumber informasi dalam penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah dan pengelola perpustakaan. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara terstruktur dan dokumentasi. Analisis data terdiri dari reduksi data, display data dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengelola perpustakaan di sekolah ini telah menyusun program kerja harian, jangka pendek, jangka menengah dan jangka panjang. Untuk melaksanakan semua program kerja tersebut, kepala sekolah membentuk struktur organisasi pengelola perpustakaan sebagai pelaksana kegiatan sehari-hari beserta uraian tugas masing-masing bagian/fungsi kerja yang terkandung didalamnya. Kepala sekolah melakukan evaluasi dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui capaian kerja berbagai program yang telah ditentukan yang akan dijadikan masukan untuk perbaikan organisasi perpustakaan pada tahun-tahun akademik berikutnya.

Abstract

This community service program aims to provide innovation to the Enrekang Regency Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS) in conducting stunting counselling to the Enrekang Community. This service method uses STUNEDUCATE information system training with target partners, namely the Team for the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction (TPPS) of Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The evaluation instrument of this activity is a questionnaire and analyzed descriptively. The result of this service activity is the creation of new innovations for TPPS Enrekang Regency in terms of conducting online-based stunting counselling. TPPS can provide stunting education online so that TPPS is no longer constrained by distance and time. With the massive online counselling by TPPS through the STUNEDUCATE information system, the stunting literacy index of the Enrekang Regency Community can be further increased, and the stunting rate can be achieved in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 concerning the acceleration of stunting reduction.

Abstract

Berkomunikasi berarti manusia berusaha untuk mencapai kesamaan makna dan manusia mencoba untuk berbagi informasi, gagasan, atau sikap dengan partisipan lainnya. Apabila tidak terjadi kesamaan makna antara komunikator dan komunikan yaitu komunikan tidak mengerti dengan pesan yang diterimanya maka komunikasi tidak terjadi atau tidak komunikatif. Penelitian’ ini menggunakan metode kualitatif non karena sumber datanya bukan manusia melainkan dokumen. Penelitian ini ‘termasuk jenis penelitian kepustakaan ‘(library research), sedangkan pengumpulan datanya menggunakan teknik dokumentasi. Adapun ‘analisis data yang di gunakan adalah analisis isi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada masa usia dini anak mengalami masa keemasan (the golden age) yang merupakan masa di mana anak mulai peka/sensitif untuk menerima berbagai rangsangan. Komunikasi kita yang berkualitas pada anak usia dini akan membuat mereka mampu mengenal dan membedakan benar salah, memudahkan dalam mengetahui akar persoalan, serta memberikan kepentingan yang terbaik untuk anak. Harapannya, di masa yang akan datang, anak tidak salah dalam memilih pergaulan di luar rumah dan tidak mencoba-coba sesuatu yang membahayakan, baik bagi dirinya maupun lingkungannya.

Abstract

Communicating means humans are trying to achieve common meaning and humans are trying to share information, ideas, or attitudes with other participants. If there is no similarity of meaning between the communicator and the communicant, that is, the communicant does not understand the message he receives, then communication does not occur or is not communicative. Communication is one aspect that is always needed by every human being. This proves that communicating is important in every stage of life. Communication is also needed by elderly parents or the elderly. Their need to communicate to others can also be distinguished between each other. This research uses a qualitative method because the source of the data is not a human being but a document. This research 'includes a type of library research', while the data collection uses documentation techniques. The 'data analysis used is content analysis. The results showed that the elderly person (elderly) is someone whose approach differs between one elderly person and another elderly person, so that in communicating with them also requires different communication patterns in order for similar meanings to occur so as to create effective communication.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate teachers' understanding of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in an effort to increase the literacy of elementary school (SD) students in Enrekang Regency. Literacy is an important aspect of education that influences students' ability to read, write and understand information. The use of AI in educational contexts has become a topic that is receiving increasing attention, but teachers' understanding of the use of this technology to improve student literacy still needs further research. The research method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with elementary school teachers in Enrekang Regency. Data analysis was carried out thematically to identify patterns and main findings. Research findings show that the majority of teachers have a basic understanding of artificial intelligence and its potential to improve student literacy. However, there are also some teachers who still feel unsure or have uncertainty regarding the use of AI in an educational context. Factors such as technical readiness, institutional support, and teachers' perceptions of AI effectiveness influence teachers' level of understanding and acceptance of this technology. The results of this research can be the basis for developing training and learning programs oriented towards the use of AI to increase student literacy at Enrekang Regency Elementary School. Efforts to improve teachers' understanding and skills in integrating AI technology in learning can have a positive impact in improving the quality of education at the elementary level.

Abstract

Library digitization is key to enhancing accessibility and the utilization of information in order to improve educational literacy in the digital era. South Sulawesi, as part of Indonesia’s rapidly developing region, needs to strengthen its information infrastructure, such as digital libraries, to address users' behavior towards technological advancements. The objective of this research is to analyze the implementation of the library digitization system in South Sulawesi by evaluating implementation strategies, identifying success factors and challenges, and understanding its impact on library services and public access to information. This research employs a mixed methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data analysis in parallel. Quantitatively, surveys (both offline and online) were conducted to collect data on implementation strategies, success factors, and barriers to library digitization. Qualitatively, in-depth interviews and document analysis were used to explore the impact of library digitization on services and public access to information. The results show that the level of library digitization implementation in South Sulawesi remains low. Existing digitization strategies vary but are generally hindered by limited infrastructure and human resources. Success factors include government support and collaboration with other institutions, while the main challenges involve insufficient funding, resistance to change, and low digital literacy among the population. The positive impacts of digitization include improved access to information and better quality library services, although there are still challenges in maintaining the systems. Key recommendations include improving infrastructure, staff training, and increasing public digital literacy.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology demands that learners acquire information literacy skills from an early age as part of 21st-century competencies. Information literacy encompasses not only the ability to search for and use information but also the skills to evaluate, process, and present information critically and ethically. In the context of primary education, the curriculum and school library play a strategic role in laying the foundation for information literacy from an early stage. This study aims to explore how the integration of information literacy into the primary education curriculum is implemented in elementary schools in Enrekang Regency, as well as how school libraries contribute to supporting this process. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method in three elementary schools that have active library programs. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with teachers, librarians, and principals; observation of literacy activities; and document analysis (lesson plans, syllabi, and library programs). The findings indicate that the integration of information literacy remains incidental and is not yet structured within the formal curriculum. School libraries have made efforts to become open learning spaces, yet their role has not been fully optimized due to limited resources and coordination among school stakeholders. The implication is that supportive policies are needed to systematically strengthen information literacy through curriculum integration, teacher training, and the revitalization of school libraries as literacy centers and learning resource hubs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dan menganalisis bagaimana pemanfaatan pos keamanan lingkungan (pos kamling) sebagai pusat pojok baca dapat berkontribusi dalam peningkatan literasi masyarakat setempat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam dengan tokoh masyarakat, relawan literasi, dan warga setempat, serta dokumentasi kegiatan pojok baca di pos kamling. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis interaktif model Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa inisiatif mengubah fungsi pos kamling menjadi pojok baca memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap minat dan kebiasaan membaca masyarakat, terutama di kalangan anak-anak dan remaja. Pos kamling yang semula hanya berfungsi sebagai pos jaga keamanan lingkungan kini mengalami pergeseran fungsi menjadi ruang publik yang edukatif dan inklusif. Keberadaan buku-buku bacaan yang bervariasi dan mudah diakses membuat masyarakat merasa lebih dekat dengan budaya literasi. Faktor pendukung keberhasilan program ini meliputi partisipasi aktif masyarakat, dukungan pemerintah desa, keterlibatan pemuda sebagai penggerak literasi, serta kemitraan dengan pihak luar seperti komunitas literasi dan donatur buku. Kendati demikian, masih terdapat beberapa tantangan seperti keterbatasan jumlah koleksi bacaan, kurangnya fasilitas yang memadai, dan minimnya pelatihan pengelolaan pojok baca bagi relawan. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pos kamling memiliki potensi besar untuk dikembangkan sebagai pusat literasi berbasis komunitas. Oleh karena itu, strategi serupa dapat direplikasi di desa-desa lain sebagai upaya pemberdayaan literasi secara berkelanjutan. Implikasi praktis dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan pendekatan partisipatif dan pemanfaatan ruang publik yang ada, masyarakat desa dapat menciptakan pusat literasi yang efektif meskipun dengan sumber daya terbatas. Implikasi akademik dari penelitian ini membuka ruang untuk kajian lebih lanjut mengenai transformasi fungsi sosial infrastruktur lokal sebagai media pemberdayaan literasi berbasis komunitas.

Abstract

Perpustakaan SMA Negeri 5 Enrekang merupakan pusat penyedia informasi yang diharuskan memberikan akses dan layanan informasi kepada pemustaka. Sebagai pustakawan yang profesional diharapakan mampu membuat sebuah terobosan atau ide–ide yang mampu menarik pengunjung ke perpustakaan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kualitatif, data yang yang dikumpumpulkan dengan proses observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Tehnik analisis data menggunakan reduksi data. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi inovasi yang diterapkan oleh pustakawan dalam meningkatkan minat kunjung siswa di Perpustakaan SMA Negeri 5 Enrekang. Tiga hasil penelitian utama yang diselidiki adalah inovasi layanan sirkulasi, promosi, dan komunikasi, serta pengelolaan koleksi.Pertama, inovasi layanan sirkulasi mempertimbangkan efektivitas pencatatan peminjaman dan pengembalian buku selama periode paling ramai di perpustakaan, terutama saat awal tahun ajaran baru. Kedua, strategi promosi yang dilakukan sekali setahun pada saat penerimaan siswa baru untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan minat siswa dalam berkunjung ke perpustakaan. Terakhir, pengelolaan koleksi melalui kolaborasi antara pustakawan, guru, dan kepala sekolah untuk memastikan kebutuhan siswa terpenuhi dan bahan bacaan yang relevan tersedia.Melalui pengumpulan data kualitatif dan observasi langsung, penelitian ini menyoroti dampak inovasi-inovasi tersebut terhadap minat kunjung siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam frekuensi kunjungan siswa ke perpustakaan, serta peningkatan penggunaan layanan dan koleksi perpustakaan secara keseluruhan.Penemuan ini menegaskan pentingnya peran aktif pustakawan dalam mengembangkan inovasi-inovasi kreatif untuk mempromosikan perpustakaan sebagai pusat sumber daya yang vital bagi pendidikan di SMA Negeri 5 Enrekang dan mungkin dapat diterapkan di sekolah lain untuk meningkatkan minat baca siswa secara keseluruhan.
