The activity was held at the Bunkasai Festival of Syiah Kuala University in Banda Aceh, where visitors were introduced to Japans transportation modesranging from rail, bus, bicycle-sharing, and walking systemsthrough maps, models, and interactive discussions. The program also presented a case study on the potential for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) along Banda Acehs Trans Koetaradja corridor, connecting the concept of sustainability in transport with local practices. This initiative adopted an informative exhibition method supported by visual aids such as transport maps, infographics of Japanese mobility systems, and an audio visual content showing how transportation system works Japan. The main objectives were to enhance community knowledge about sustainable transport, encourage discussions about alternative modes to private motorized vehicles, and introduce the relevance of TOD principles for Banda Acehs urban mobility. The results show that most visitors demonstrated increased awareness and curiosity about sustainable modes after engaging with the exhibition. The activity highlights the potential for public education and advocacy through cultural festivals as a means of linking academic research, urban sustainability, and community participation.

Abstract

Local architecture serves as an authentic representation of a society's identity, tradition, and material adaptation, which is currently being eroded by the currents of globalization and advancements in information technology. This study aims to conduct an in-depth examination of the characteristics of Rumoh Aceh as a crucial element in the history of the Acehnese people, while simultaneously evaluating the extent of the implementation of these local features in public buildings across Aceh Province. Adopting a qualitative approach, this research explores social and technical phenomena through four systematic stages: preparation, primary data collection through pure oral tradition, analysis of construction techniques, and evaluation of the built environment. The findings indicate that Rumoh Aceh possesses distinctive tectonic excellence, characterized by a nail-less joint system (using pegs and rattan ties), an orientation toward the Qibla, and a spatial configuration (Seuramoe Keue, Seuramoe Teungouh, and Seuramoe Likot) that is responsive to both climate and religious values. Although the role of the Utoh (traditional architect) and the availability of timber are diminishing, the philosophy of Rumoh Aceh remains relevant for adaptation into modern structures using concrete materials, as demonstrated by the Aceh Governor's Office and the Tsunami Museum. This study concludes that the integration of modern technological innovation with the principles of local wisdom is vital for preserving the identity of Nusantara architecture in Aceh.in buildings throughout Aceh Province.

Abstract

The creative economy sector offers a viable solution to the high rates of school dropouts and youth unemployment in Gampong Kahju, Aceh Besar. This community service initiative is driven by a lack of productive skills among local youth, contrasted by the surging demand for green interior elements in urban Banda Aceh. The program aims to transform the vocational skills of school dropouts through training in mini-landscape (terrarium) production as an innovative decorative product. The methodology encompasses three key stages: providing entrepreneurial motivation, technical guidance in integrated sculpture-based landscape design, and market trend analysis. The results demonstrate a significant increase in the participants' creative capacity and mastery of aesthetic techniques. However, evaluations highlight the need for quality standardization through visual modules, production efficiency using simple mechanical tools, and the optimization of waste-based materials to ensure production independence. Regarding sustainability, future strategies will focus on digital marketing, the establishment of Joint Business Groups (KUB), and product diversification through technology integration, such as smart lighting. By fostering strategic partnerships with the retail industry, this program is projected to create a competitive and sustainable young entrepreneurial ecosystem within the creative industry.
