Abstract

Anomalies in the DC system, both in the rectifier and the battery, will occur sooner or later, and the cause is equipment age, maintenance, and fault. The purpose of this study was to determine the anomaly that occurred in the 110 VDC system at PT. PLN ULTG Binjai. The research method is to observe, examine and measure the DC system. The research was carried out at the Paya Geli Substation and Pangkalan Brandan Substation. From the results of the study, it was found that the anomaly that occurred in the 110 VDC system at ULTG Binjai was the final voltage per battery cell which was less than 1 volt, namely the battery cell numbers 1, 34 and 39 in the Payageli substation 2 bank battery. DC ground occurs in bank 1 at the Paya Geli substation with the negative side connected to ground, the positive side voltage to ground is 95.2 volts, while the voltage on the negative side to ground is 8.4 volts. The main fault (phase loss) anomaly at the Pangkalan Brandan substation was due to the burning of the input line in the rectifier control module, causing the rectifier to fail and the DC supply from the rectifier to be lost and temporarily supplied by the battery. Regular maintenance is required for reliability to avoid anomalies and immediately recondition if the battery capacity is less than 60% and the final voltage per battery cell is less than 1 volt.

Abstract

Earthquakes are vibrations that occur on the earth's surface due to the sudden release of energy from within the earth that creates seismic waves. Earthquakes are usually caused by movement of the earth's crust (plates). The frequency of an area, refers to the type and size of earthquakes experienced over a period of time. Often with the development of technology, it provides a solution to minimize the impact of earthquake events. For this reason, an earthquake warning alarm is needed as an early warning and anticipation of the community when an earthquake occurs. Therefore, researchers made a tool which uses the Accelerometer sensor and arduino nano as a controller and is accompanied by the blynk application as an earthquake early warning notification sent via smartphone. This tool is processed using an Arduino Nano microcontroller as a controlling component. The working system of this tool uses an 8 Volt lithium battery installed in series as a voltage source, which will be reduced to 5 Volts with a stepdown module, because by using a battery voltage of 8 Volts and coupled with a lot of load, the Arduino Regulator IC will experience overheating or heat up quickly. This tool has been successfully designed with manual testing to be able to see the sensitivity of the earthquake sensor made, by utilizing seismic waves that arise due to ground movement. This tool successfully detects earthquakes with horizontal and vertical vibrations, and this tool is quite effective because it does not detect vibrations generated in the surrounding environment. Based on the tests carried out, at an accelerometer sensor tilt angle of 90o the system reads an earthquake strength of around 7-10 Richter Scale (SR) with a WASPADA status

Abstract

Control technology is currently growing rapidly, one of the utilization of control technology that is currently experiencing rapid development is control of smart homes and automation systems coupled with rapid advances in the field of the Internet of Things, so that control technology becomes a remote control concept that is widely applied. Thematic Community Service Collaboration (TCSC) activity is a series of community service activities intended for the downstreaming of research products of Medan State Polytechnic lecturers in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia) lecturers that can be utilized by the community (partner), namely SMKS Muhammadiyah 9 Medan aims to provide training from modules / trainers that have been specially designed consisting of several electronic equipment that has been equipped with wireless communication so that students can control electronic equipment remotely only through an application from a Smartphone without having to make direct contact like using a mechanical switch in general. The method used in this service is the lecture method followed by the discussion and question and answer method followed by the module / trainer demonstration method and how it works and the direct interaction method, namely students can try or practice directly, so that this training increases students' knowledge, skills and creativity towards the development of remote control technology in the future.

Abstract

Jelly Kelapa Kampung sub-district owners characterize East Binjai sub-district need a business license to get legality and legal protection from the government. However, Jelly Kelapa Kampung MSME business owners are still minimal in knowledge and mechanisms for making Business Identification Numbers (NIB) through Online Single Submission (OSS). This training activity aims to solve these problems by introducing, increasing knowledge, and assisting MSME owners Jelly Kelapa Kampung in making NIB through the OSS web. The implementation method used has 3 stages, namely socialization, training, and mentoring. The implementation of activities includes the submission of theory, making business licenses, and submitting business legality letters. The result of this activity is that the owner of Jelly Kelapa Kampung MSMEs shows increased knowledge about business legality and business registration into the OSS institution. Thus, MSME owners in Jelly Kelapa village get business protection, easy access to capital, empowerment from the government, and assistance for business development

Abstract

Bengkel las dimasa sekarang ini menghasil banyak produk seperti rak bunga, rak barang, pagar rumah, kanopi bahkan permintaan mesin-mesin dengan fungsi tertentu. Beberapa permasalahan dalam usaha bengkel las, salah satunya pemadaman listrik yang tidak terduga sementara pemesanan sudah pada waktunya, ditambah lagi perlengkapan usaha las yang penting seperti mesin kompresor cat. Untuk menghasilkan kualitas produk las adalah sangat diperlukan karena hal itu berkaitan dengan konsumen yang tertarik terhadap produk las yang dibuat, yang menjadi ketertarikan konsumen seperti hasilnya yang kuat, kokoh dan tahan lama ditambah lagi hasil dari pengecatan yang menghasilkan tampilan yang baik dan sangat indah. Pengabdian ini bertujuan mengupayakan peningkatan produksi baik secara kualitas maupun kuantitas produk las pada Mitra Usaha Bengkel Las Berkah Rizky dengan menerapakan instalasi mesin genset dan penggunakan kompresor, sehingga jika pemadaman listrik terjadi tidak menghambat produksi dari pesanan konsumen dan hasil tampilan yang bagus dilakukan pengecatan dengan kompresor dibanding pengecatan manual menggunakan kuas yang tidak dapat menjangkau semua sudut dan pemerataan hasil pengecatan produk las. Metode yang dilakukan pada kegiatan ini berupa metode ceramah, diskusi dan demonstrasi alat serta dilanjutkan proses instalasi mesin genset dan kompresor secara keseluruhan. Hasil kegiatan ini diharapkan mitra dapat menghasilkan produksi usaha las secara maksimal dilihat dari kuantitas dan kualitasnya.

Abstract

The implementation of the Solar Panel Test Simulator design is carried out for testing in accordance with environmental temperature conditions. The difficulty of carrying out tests in actual conditions is the background for designing this tool. The intensity of heat from sunlight and also the variable ambient temperature influence the voltage released by solar panels. To obtain a solar panel voltage measurement data sheet like the situation above, it is necessary to design a simulation tool that is capable of being a reference to the actual situation. Peltier is useful for controlling temperature variations ranging from normal temperatures to below normal temperatures. Peltier is able to maintain temperature conditions until it is stable at 32 degrees Celsius by receiving light intensity. For light variations, researchers use halogen lamps which will function as heat providers. Solar light is capable of providing lighting intensity ranging from 0 - 100%. However, in this test we only use 3 conditions, namely light intensity of 30%, 60% and 100%. This test also aims to determine the effect of the voltage produced by solar panels on changes in light and also to determine the effect of the voltage produced by solar panels on changes in temperature and to determine the effect of changes in temperature on changes in light intensity. This tool is expected to be able to provide test results that can be used as a reference in measuring solar panels in real conditions.

Abstract

This study focuses on the use of halogen lamps in the design of a Solar Test Simulator to simulate sunlight conditions in testing solar panels. Halogen lamps are chosen as the light source due to their ability to approximate the solar spectrum, enabling testing of solar cells in a controlled laboratory environment. However, precise adjustment of halogen lamp light is crucial to ensure the accuracy and consistency of test results. The design of the Solar Test Simulator for Solar Panels involves configuring the placement of solar panels so that the designed tool can provide simulation based on actual solar panel measurements. The performance of solar panels is displayed through a monitor placed in the design, providing comprehensive information about the solar panels. Limitations in the placement of solar panels do not provide reference regarding measurement conditions based on the angle of incoming sunlight. Therefore, further design is needed concerning the positioning of solar panels during measurements. The development in this tool's design includes adjustments to the height of the halogen lamp from the solar panel, specifically at heights of 0.328m, 0.366m, and 0.405m.

Abstract

The problem of the need for energy continues to increase, so a solution is needed in the form of alternative energy so that the problem of energy supply can be overcome. One of the solutions is through the utilization of solar energy by using solar panels with their photovoltaic properties. The problem is that solar panels must be optimized to work so that the output power can be optimal. The method in this study is the concept of a cooling system to overcome solar panels that are above their working temperature range where 1oC (starting from 25oC) will reduce the output power generated by solar panels by around 0.5% using two pumps placed on the east and west to flow water on the surface of the solar panels, so that the cooling system can move flexibly for the cooling process, where the condition of the cooling water is water that has been cooled using a combination of heatsinks and peltiers. From the test results it can be seen that the solar panel optimization system with a cooling system obtained a total solar panel output power of 140.64 Watts with an average output power of 14.06 Watts and a solar panel output power without a cooling system of 95.09 Watts with an average output power of 14.06 Watts. the average output power is 9.51 Watt with a percentage increase in the output power optimization system of 47.90% where all control and monitoring systems have worked well by integrating the Internet of Things.

Abstract

Generator adalah mesin listrik yang mengubah energi mekanik menjadi energi listrik. Generator merupakan bagian yang sangat penting  dalam sistem pembangkitan tenaga listrik. Pada PT Permata Hijau Palm Oleo Belawan generator yang dipakai adalah generator sinkron 3 fasa. Penggerak mula dari generator adalah turbin uap. Turbin uap dikopel seporos dengan generator. Turbin uap memberikan daya untuk memutar generator sehingga generator menghasilkan energi listrik, kapasitas daya listrik yang dapat dihasilkan generator tersebut 12 MW. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan sebuah perhitungan dan analisis pengaruh perubahan beban terhadap efisiensi generator di PT Permata Hijau Palm Oleo Belawan. Berdasarkan hasil dari data di lapangan diperoleh efisiensi generator 89,14% sampai dengan 96,26%, angka ini cukup baik mengingat rugi yang dihasilkan maksimal hanya sebesar 10,45%.

Abstract

The lighting control system by paying attention to the number of lights activated/turning on in the building hall is very important because the building hall must have good lighting for various activities/events in the building hall, especially the nature of the building hall which tends to have a large capacity and is closed so that lighting arrangements become a matter of which must be considered. The method in this study is the AC_light_dimmer technique and the timing system. The designed system has been integrated with the Internet of Things so that all control and monitoring features of the building lighting system can be carried out remotely and in real time as well as a manual light control system for certain conditions. From the test results it can be seen that testing the use of lighting lamps without the use of AC Light Dimmer still has a high percentage of deviation, which is equal to 6.52% and with the use of AC Light Dimmer, which is equal to 0.21%, the input lux setting with an input value that is read already appropriate, the use of time settings that are working properly so that it shows that remote control and monitoring has worked well according to the targets set in the building lighting system based on time and AC Light Dimmer which has been integrated with the Internet of Things.
