Abstract

Abstract

The main engine on KM. Kelimutu operates with the help of KM. Kelimutu ship system itself. The exitences of  a system that can be considered very critical is lubrication system of the main engine. The lubrication system for the main engine of KM. Kelimutu itself has task of the supporting the smooth operation of the main engine by distributing good lubrication and in accordance with the main engine indicators. Failure of this lubrication system will have a negative impact on the main engine, therefore the purpose of this study is to analyze the KM. Kelimutu lubrication system with the reliability method. In this study, the reliability method used to analyze the lubrication system uses qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. Qualitative analysis using Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). Meanwhile, for quantitative analysis by conducting a Monte Carlo simulation. The results of this study indicate that the most critical component in KM. Kelimutu lubrication system is a filter with an initial Risk Priority Number (RPNi) value of 592, and if the component have 2 pieces such as a filter, transfer pump, Lo pump, and also a Lo separator have failed.  The results of the simulation show Availability is 0,96 and MTTF (Mean Time to Failure) is 697,76082.

Abstract

The tanker is transportation to distribute the results of oil and gas exploration, where most of the exploration results come from the ocean. In this study, an analysis of the effect of adding fixed baffles with a certain number of baffles on the stability of the tanker will be carried out. The method in this study is to analyze the data of 4999 DWT tankers using Maxsurf Stability Software. The simulation was carried out in 4 percentage variations, namely 30%, 40%, 70%, and 90%, with full baffle installation in each tank. After calculating the stability analysis on the 4999 DWT tanker, it was found that the model I tank (without baffles) did not meet IMO standards. While the model II tank (1 fixed baffle), model III tank (2 fixed baffles), and model IV tank (3 fixed baffles) on various fillings have met IMO standards. Where the tank model IV (3 fixed baffles) has the best stability value with a GZ value of 1.881 m at 30% filling, 1.602 m at 50% filling, 1.051 m at 70% filling, and 0.706 m at 90% filling. It was concluded that the addition of a fixed baffle to the tank was effective in increasing the stability of the tanker.

Abstract

More than a year has passed since Francisco Pérez-Arribas (2023) introduced a parametric-based hull design method using Python scripts, beginning with the cross-sectional area (CSA) design. Several experimental studies have been carried out to improve the method and the quality of ship design. This study aims to generate an optimal hull design by utilizing normal vectors derived from the x and y vectors. These normal vectors are applied parametrically to determine the shape of the hull. The study also employs a cubic spline-based parametric technique for designing yacht hulls. The purpose of this study is to introduce the concept of parametric design through the development of visual programming used to form cross-sectional area curves and generate hull geometry. This study also discusses both the advantages and limitations of using visual programming approaches to accelerate the design process. By varying the CSA shape of the DelftShip model, the resulting parametric model has a high level of accuracy, with a difference of - 0.097016% in LCB and -0.28785% in volume when compared to the DelftShip model. results from Grasshopper reveal significant differences, particularly below a draft of 0.475, where the CP values from Grasshopper are lower than those from DelftShip. The parametric approach using normal vectors not only facilitates design exploration but also holds the potential to enhance overall hull design quality and optimization.
