Abstract

Exploring the advantages of medicinal plants encourages research on the effectiveness of medicinal plants as a substitute for antibiotics to stimulate metabolism and immunity and improve the performance and productivity of tropical chickens. This research was conducted to determine the feed efficiency and immunity of tropical chickens fed a basal diet substituted with varying amounts of garlic extract (GE). This study utilized 150 chickens that were grouped into five treatments. Each treatment had three replicates, and each replicate consisted of 10 chickens. The treatment was GE0 = control diet, GE2 = basal diet + GE 2%, GE4 = basal diet + GE 4%, GE6 = basal diet + GE 6%, and GE8 = basal diet + GE 8%. The results showed that adding garlic extract positively affected this research, indicating that garlic extract might improve the feed efficiency and immunity of tropical chickens.

Abstract

RINGKASAN Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan enzim cairan rumen terhadap energi metabolis wheat pollard. Enzim cairan rumen diekstraksi dari rumen sapi Australian Commercial Cross (ACC). Isolasi dan karakterisasi enzim xilanase cairan rumen dilakukan dengan parameter yang diukur antara lain stabilitas enzim, lama inkubasi, total gula wheat pollard sebelum dan setelah mendapat perlakuan enzim. Dosis penambahan enzim pada wheat pollard dengan penambahan tiga dosis enzim 0 (control WPE0), 620 (WPE1) dan 1.240 U/kg (WPE2). Dari hasil analisis, diperoleh kegiatan enzim xilanase cairan rumen tertinggi dicapai pada pH 5-7 dengan kegiatan nisbi di atas 90%. Pada perlakuan suhu 40-45 oC, kegiatan nisbi di atas 90%. Waktu optimal hidrolisis enzim pada substrat wheat pollard adalah selama 10 jam pada suhu 38 oC. Kandungan polisakarida berserat pada WPE0 lebih tinggi daripada WPE1 dan WPE2 berturut-turut sebesar 4,1 dan 3,9%. Kandungan energi metabolis (EM) WPE2 dan WNE sangat nyata berbeda 22,2 dan 12,9 % dibandingkan dengan WPE0.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang dihadapi peternak unggas saat ini adalah harga bahan pakan yang semakin mahal dan kualitas yang tidak menentu, sehingga produksi yang dihasilkan seringkali kurang maksimal. Untuk itu kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dengan mengaplikasikan feed additive Bioemulsifier Organik yang berfungsi mengoptimalkan kecernaan lemak untuk diubah menjadi sumber energi sehingga akan meningkatkan performa produksi ayam kampung tersebut. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan tentang feed additive Organic Bioemulsifier dan keterampilan pada mitra tentang teknik pencampurannya secara benar dikarenakan jumlah pemberiannya sangat sedikit (0,01%) agar tercampur homogen dengan bahan-bahan utama lainnya. Pemberian pakan campuran dengan homogenitas yang baik, kemanfaatan penambahan Organic Emulsifier akan nampak berupa perbaikan performa ayam kampung. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Teaching Farm milik PT. Pandu Bina Sejahtera Indonesia. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan metode Participatory Rural Approach (PRA) yang meliputi: 1)persiapan, 2)penyuluhan dan pelatihan, 3)pendampingan kegiatan, serta 4)evaluasi. Keberhasilan pengabdian ini nampak dari hasil evaluasi yang menunjukkan bahwa seluruh peserta telah mengetahui secara langsung manfaat feed additive Organic Bioemulsifier yang dapat meningkatkan berat badan ayam kampung sebesar 6,3% dibanding yang tanpa feed additive. Jumlah peserta yang telah mengetahui teknik pencampuran pakan dengan feed additive secara benar sebanyak 100%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding effervescent bioemulsifier tablets from Pseudomonas putida through drinking water on the quality of broiler quail carcasses. This study used 200 male Golden Quails, divided into 4 treatments and 5 replications, each consisting of 10 quails. The treatments included T0, which was the control drinking water without any bioemulsifier, and T1, T2, and T3, which were supplemented with 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 g of bioemulsifier/L of drinking water, respectively. The parameters that were observed included the carcass percentage, the physical quality of the carcass, and the amount of abdominal fat in the broiler quail. The experiment was carried out from week 3 to week 5. The experiment used a completely randomised design (CRD), if significantly different, and continued with the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results of this study showed that the addition of bioemulsifier in effervescent form through drinking water in broiler quail was significantly different (P<0.05) on the percentage of carcass and pH value of meat. The conclusion of this study is that the addition of effervescent bioemulsifier tablets to drinking water has an effect on increasing the carcass percentage and pH value of broiler quail.

Abstract

Rice is the leading food commodity in Banyuwangi Regency. The development of rice food crops cannot be separated from the availability of quality rice seeds. UD. Sritanjung is a business entity that operates in the field of rice seed breeding to provide quality rice seeds, especially in Banyuwangi Regency. Development of rice seed business at UD. Sritanjung needs to be implemented to support the development of rice food commodities in Banyuwangi Regency. This research aims to design a strategy based on UD's internal and external environmental conditions. Sritanjung Banyuwangi. This research is classified as quantitative descriptive research using the SWOT and QSPM methods. SWOT analysis is aimed at obtaining the best strategic alternatives, while QSPM analysis is carried out to rank these alternative strategies based on strategic priorities. The results of the research show that there are five alternative strategies produced, namely: 1) increasing the quantity of seed product production, especially seeds with high sales, 2) improving the quality of rice seeds produced through certification of new products and products that have not been certified, 3) opening shops in various existing marketplaces such as Tokopedia, Shopee, Lazada, Bukalapak, JD.id, and other marketplaces, 4) increasing promotion of certified rice seeds inside and outside the city directly, and 5) collaborating with the Banyuwangi Regency Government. The priority strategy in this research is to directly increase the promotion of certified rice seeds inside and outside the city.

Abstract

Program pengabdian ini dilatar belakangi oleh masih sedikitnya jumlah mahasiswa yang ada di Jurusan Peternakan Politeknik Negeri Jember yang mengikuti program kreativitas mahasiswa (PKM) untuk berkompetisi di level nasional. Oleh karena itu, pelatihan ini butuh dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman dari mahasiswa Jurusan Peternakan Politeknik Negeri Jember yang akan mengikuti program kreativitas mahasiswa hingga sampai ke tingkat nasional. Hasil dari pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa program kreativitas mahasiswa merupakan program yang dapat mendorong dan menggali kreativitas serta inovasi mahasiswa melalui sebuah kompetisi yang sangat kompetitif, sehingga pelatihan bagi mahasiswa yang berasal dari Jurusan Peternakan yang akan mengikuti program kreativitas mahasiswa sangatlah penting. Hasil dari pengabdian ini menegaskan bahwa mahasiswa Jurusan Peternakan Politeknik Negeri Jember melalui pelatihan ini berdampak pada peningkatan minat mahasiswa untuk mengikuti program kreativitas mahasiswa karena mahasiwa menjadi lebih paham tentang panduan program kreativitas mahasiswa yang terbaru.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah memberikan penyuluhan dan pelatihan tentang aplikasi teknologi pengolahan hasil ikan laut menjadi produk ‘Kerupuk Ikan Laut’ dan memberikan pembekalan metode pengemasannya. Harapannya produk kerupuk ikan laut ini dapat meningkatkan nilai tambah dagangan ikan yang dijual ataupun memanfaatkan ikan yang tidak laku dijual segar, sehingga keluarga nelayan pantai Puger dapat mandiri secara ekonomi. Metode yang dilakukan adalah: 1)Persiapan; 2)Penyuluhan dan pelatihan; 3)Bantuan peralatan pendukung berupa satu paket peralatan produksi kerupuk aneka ikan laut yang masing-masing terdiri dari pisau, telenan, baskom, alat blender daging, dan gelas ukur plastic; dan 5)evaluasi. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh UD Dua Berlian selaku mitra beserta ibu-ibu nelayan masyarakat sekitar yang berjumlah 20 orang. Penyuluhan dan pelatihan diawali dengan pengisian kuesioner oleh peserta (pre test) dan dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan pembuatan kerupuk ikan dan diakhiri dengan post test serta diskusi. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat telah terlaksana dengan baik, dimana solusi yang ditawarkan dinilai mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan mitra jika dilihat dari sudut pandang mitra yang sangat aktif dan antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan ini. Peseta juga langsung melakukan produksi kerupuk ikan laut secara mandiri setelah kegiatan pengabdian selesai. Kegiatan pendampingan akan tetap terus dilakukan selama mitra masih membutuhkan, walaupun kegiatan telah berakhir

Abstract

Background: Aflatoxin contamination in poultry feed remains a major challenge due to its adverse effects on productivity and economic performance. Poultry feed with aflatoxin contamination can have harmful effects on chicken production. Purpose: The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of bioactive yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Sc) on reducing the negative effect of diets contaminated under low doses of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) exposure (30 ppb) on the performance of laying hens. Methods: A total of one hundred, 24-week-old commercial line Hisex brown laying hens were randomly divided into four treatments with five replicates, with five hens in each replicate. The treatments comprised control P0 = basal diet (BD) without Sc and AFB1; P1 = BD + 30 ppb AFB1 without Sc; P2 = BD + 30 ppb AFB1 + 0.5 g Sc/kg diet; and P3 = BD + 30 ppb AFB1 + 1 g Sc/kg diet. The observed variables were 1) Layer performance, 2) the physical quality of eggs, and 3) liver histomorphology, and 4) Relative liver weight (%) and Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT)(U/L) value. Results: The results revealed that exposure to AFB1 at 30 ppb had no significant effect on egg production, feed consumption, the feed egg ratio (FER), liver histomorphology, relative liver weight (%), and SGOT liver enzyme activity in laying hens. However, feed contaminated with low doses of AFB1 significantly reduced eggshell thickness, while the supplementation of Sc to the contaminated feed significantly prevented such thinning (P<0.02). Conclusion: The conclusion drawn is that the addition of Sc to feed can counter the negative effect of AFB1 on the egg quality particularly eggshell thickness.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to investigate the combined of the use of Golden snail flour (Pomacea canaliculata L.) and Azolla pinnata as sources of protein and carotene to improve the quality of quail eggs. Methods: The materials used in this study were 80 five-week-old laying quails. Golden snails and Azolla pinnata were processed into flour and then mixed with other ingredients (corn, concentrate, bran, palm oil, and premix) until they reached isoprotein and isoenergy (CP = 19% and EM = 2,900 kcal/kg). A Completely Randomized Design was employed, consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. Differences among results were analyzed using the Duncan Test. The treatments consisted of: T0 = Control (without Golden Snails and Azolla); T1 = Using 10% Azolla pinnata; T2 = Using 10% Golden snails; P3 = Using 10% Golden snails and 10% Azolla pinnata. The observed parameters included: 1) Egg quality which encompass egg weight, egg yolk index, egg white index, eggshell thickness, and egg yolk color; and egg yolk cholesterol content.
