Abstract

Diabetes self-management education (DSME) integrates four aspects of diabetes management with an emphasis on behavioral interventions that assist individuals with diabetes in adopting lifestyle changes for their self-care from the desease. DSME encompasses diets, exercises, treatments, and exercise schedules for patients with diabetes, aiming to enhance patients' ability to self-care. This study aimed to assess the effects of DSME on the self-care of patients with diabetes by using a booklet medium at Purwokerto Islamic Hospital. This quantitative research employed a quasi experimental design with a control group pre-post test design and gave a booklet media to the intervention group. This research involved 32 randomly selected respondents who were divided into control and intervention group. The statistical analysis used an independent t-test and showed a significant difference in the care of patients with diabetes (p=0.00<0.05) between the two groups. Following DSME intervention, 75% respondents in the intervention group exhibited a good self-care behavior; meanwhile, the control group was just 56%. The statistical analysis showed a difference in the self-care mean of the intervention group, which improved meaningfully (p-value 0.01); however, the control group was unmeaningful (p-value 0.06). This research showed DSME is able to improve the self-care of patients with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Emergency services are immediate, fast, accurate, and precise to prevent death or disability. Response time is required for a patient to receive appropriate assistance based on the severity of their condition from the moment they enter the Emergency Department (ED), with a standard of 5 minutes. This quantitative correlational study used a cross-sectional approach, purposive sampling, and a chi-square test for analysis. The study involved 97 respondents, with the fastest response time in the ED being two minutes (65 respondents) and the longest being six minutes. The patient satisfaction questionnaire results indicated that 40 respondents (41.2%) were very satisfied. Cross-tabulation showed that the highest percentage of very satisfied respondents (51.3%) were those who experienced a quick response time. There was a correlation between triage response time and patient satisfaction, p = 0.002 The study involved 97 respondents, with the fastest response time in the ED being two minutes (65 respondents) and the longest being six minutes. The patient satisfaction questionnaire results indicated that 40 respondents (41.2%) were very satisfied. Cross-tabulation showed that the highest percentage of very satisfied respondents (51.3%) were those who experienced a quick response time. Faster response times improve the quality of patient satisfaction. Patient satisfaction is one of the key indicators of hospital service quality.

Abstract

Changes that occur in the elderly include physical changes, including physical disorders such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). RA can be triggered by several stress factors, such as surgery and trauma, and often appears suddenly. The highest incidence of rheumatism is in the elderly, this shows that rheumatism increases with age. One of the non-pharmacological therapies to reduce rheumatic pain is rheumatic exercise. Qualitative research type, descriptive design with case study. Number of samples in the study of 5 respondents with total sampling technique. The data was analyzed and presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. Results: Respondent characteristics based on age showed that the majority were over 60 years old (80%). All respondents were female (100%), and the majority worked as farmers (60%). The average highest pain scale before rheumatic exercise was 4.6 and the highest after 3 days of rheumatic exercise was 3.3. Rheumatic exercise therapy can reduce the pain scale in elderly patients suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Abstract

Introduction: Nursing performance plays a pivotal role in determining the quality of healthcare services, especially in the application of professional nursing models. Several factors, both internal and external, influence nursing performance, including job satisfaction, work culture, workload, supervision, and experience. Understanding these relationships is essential for improving the quality of care in healthcare facilities, particularly hospitals. Objective: To analyze the relationship between various factors, including job satisfaction, work culture, workload, supervision, and experience, with nurses' performance in implementing the Professional Nursing Practice Model. Methods: This study employed a quantitative descriptive approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 30 inpatient nurses selected through total sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Most respondents were female, held a D3 education level, and had five years of work experience. The chi-square test revealed significant relationships between job satisfaction (p = 0.004), work culture (p = 0.002), workload (p = 0.004), supervision (p = 0.001), experience (p = 0.007), and the implementation of the Professional Nursing Practice Model. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between job satisfaction, work culture, workload, supervision, experience, and the application of the Professional Nursing Practice Model, as evidenced by p-values less than 0.05. Improving these factors can enhance nurse performance and overall quality of care in hospitals.

Abstract

Discharge planning is a process that begins from the moment a patient receives healthcare services until they return home. Effective discharge planning can enhance the coordination of services from the hospital to the community, ensure smooth patient discharge, and reduce the length of stay (LOS). However, repeated hospitalizations for the same health issues (readmissions) are still common. Nurses are key members of the discharge planning team and can facilitate the discharge process, helping patients achieve optimal health. Nurses' knowledge and compliance are crucial for the success of discharge planning. To investigate the influence of education on the knowledge and compliance of nurses regarding discharge planning at RSUD (Regional Public Hospital) Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Geriatric Unit and Abiyasa Pavilion Purwokerto. This study employs a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest using a paired t-test. The sample consists of 46 respondents who meet the inclusion criteria, selected through simple random sampling. The research instrument is a questionnaire in the form of a Google Form. Univariate analysis uses descriptive analysis, and data normality is tested with the Shapiro-Wilk test. The majority of respondents are female, aged 23-30 years, with the most recent education being a nursing profession degree. The mean knowledge score before education is 44.13 points, and the mean compliance score before education is 5.13 points. After education, the mean knowledge score is 53.78 points, and the mean compliance score is 7.67 points. There is a significant influence on the knowledge and compliance of nurses before and after being given discharge planning education (p-value 0.05), with an average difference in knowledge score of 9.652 points and an average difference in compliance score of 2.543 points. Education has a significant influence on nurses' knowledge and compliance with discharge planning
