Abstract

Phenomenon/Issue: The professional competence of prospective teachers in Indonesia remains below standards, as evidenced by low Teacher Competency Test (TCT) scores. Despite various training programs, many teacher candidates still struggle with essential teaching competencies, particularly in adapting to digital education and developing professional confidence. Purpose: This study examines how teaching experience, digital literacy, and teaching professional perception influence professional competence among teacher candidates, with self-efficacy as a mediating variable. It aims to identify key factors that can enhance teacher preparation programs. Novelty: This research innovatively integrates four crucial variables in teacher development and employs self-efficacy as a mediator, offering new insights into the psychological mechanisms behind professional competence formation. Research Methods: Using a quantitative approach with PLS-SEM analysis, data were collected through online questionnaires from 131 Office Administration Education students at Universitas Negeri Semarang. Results: All three independent variables significantly affected professional competence both directly and through self-efficacy mediation. Teaching experience showed the most substantial impact (β=0.37, p<0.01), followed by digital literacy (β=0.29, p<0.01) and positive teaching professional perception (β=0.24, p<0.05). Self-efficacy accounted for 32% of the variance in professional competence. Research Contributions: The study provides empirical evidence for improving teacher education programs by emphasizing practical teaching experience, digital skills development, and positive professional socialization. It demonstrates how self-efficacy serves as a crucial psychological bridge between external factors and professional competence development.

Abstract

Given global environmental challenges, developing sustainable behavior among pre-service teachers is crucial, as they will be responsible to educate future generations who must contribute to solving environmental problems. Offline pro-environmental identity refers as the individual's environmental commitment in real-life setting. Previous studies have primarily focused on online identity and behavioral intentions, while real-life behavioral context have not been fully examined. The goal of this study was to investigate the effects of the online pro-environmental identity, the perceived behavioral control, and the moral identity on the behavioral intention and the offline pro-environmental behavior. The study employed a quantitative research design and adopted Covariance-Based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM) to analyze the data. The population was all Economics Education students of Universitas Negeri Semarang. A proportionate simple random sampling method was employed to choose 277 respondents. Questionnaire-based data were obtained and analyzed using CB-SEM. The findings reveal that intention was a strong and positive predictor of offline pro-environmental behavior (H1). Moral identity significantly influences intention (H2) and affects offline behavior both directly (H3) and indirectly through intention (H8). Online pro-environmental identity also has a significant influence on both intention (H4) and offline behavior (H5), with both effects mediated by intention (H9). However, perceived behavioral control has no impact on either intention (H6) or discharge behavior offline (H7), even indirectly through intention (H10). R value for intention is a moderate 0.539 whereas offline pro-environmental behaviour shows a strong R value at 0.963. These results emphasize the importance of intention for transforming values and identity to actual ecological behaviour. Enhancing moral and online pro-environmental identity can be beneficial to the development of sustainable behavior in offline context which calls for joint efforts in environmental education and behavioral interventions.

Abstract

This research aims to enhance students' correspondence skills by investigating the impact of collaborative skills, engagement, and interpersonal communication on learning outcomes for office administration students. This quantitative study analyzed data from 118 students using SEM-PLS and found that collaborative skills had the most significant influence, followed by engagement and interpersonal communication. The findings indicate that collaborative learning activities are an effective way to enhance communication skills and engagement in learning outcomes. Additionally, the study revealed that collaborative skills successfully mediate between interpersonal communication and engagement in correspondence learning outcomes. These insights are valuable as they demonstrate how collaborative skills, engagement, and interpersonal communication impact learning outcomes for office administration students. By highlighting the significance of collaborative learning activities, the positive correlation between engagement and academic success, and the mediating role of collaborative skills in interpersonal communication, educators can tailor curricula to better prepare students for the complexities of modern workplaces.

Abstract

Abstract

Communication is an important skill that must be developed in an individual. In the context of the world of work, written communication skills are known as correspondence. This study aimed to enhance students' correspondence skills by investigating the impact of collaborative skills, engagement, and interpersonal communication on learning outcomes for office administration students. This research is a quantitative study. The population was 150 university students of office management. It was saturation sampling. The respondents who filled out the questionnaires were 141. Students filled out a questionnaire to measure self-efficacy and collective efficacy, whereas a test measured correspondence skills. The data were tabulated and analyzed using covariance-based SEM (CB-SEM). The results showed that based on SDT, self-efficacy and competence have a significant role in improving correspondence skills, while autonomy and relatedness influence self-efficacy and collective efficacy more. However, not all of them have a direct effect on correspondence learning outcomes. Therefore, to improve correspondence skills, it is essential to create a learning environment that supports increasing students' competence and self-confidence, as well as providing freedom in learning and communicating.
