Abstract

AbstractPronoun is important part of Chinese grammar. Pronoun is words with substitution and person. There are many pronouns in Chinese, which is "mei" and "ge". Although both of them are demonstrative pronouns, they have the function of demonstrative distinction and substitution. Therefore, Chinese learners are prone to make mistakes in these two words. In order to understand the mastery condition of Mandarin Education Study Program FKIP UNTAN 2017 students toward mastery of the pronoun words “mei” and “ge”, the writer used a test method to examine students understanding and the difficulties of pronoun “mei” and “ge”. The results of the study stated that the mastery of students in the prounoun “mei” was better than “ge”. The percentage of correct answers for the word “mei” is 80% and the percentage of correct answers for the word “ge” is only 60%. In this analysis of the types difficulties, the writer realized that students did not grasp well that "mei" refers to any individual in the whole, and that "ge" is used to represent the whole and "ge" mainly refers to all at the same time. Keywords: pronoun Word, mei  and ge, Condition of Mastery

Abstract

Hakka proverbs is the crystallization of Hakka-language art, and its also a bearer of traditional Hakka culture. In general, proverbs are used to giving satire, reprimand, and advice, because a proverbcontains moral values, norms, advice and parables. The purpose of this paper is to find out and study the conditions of understanding inusing the Hakka proverbs by student of Chinese Language EducationStudy Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tanjungpura University. The research in this paper is using test questions and questionnaires to get the result if this research. The results of the research stated that the students mastery of the Chinese Language Education Study Program, Teacher Training andEducation Faculty, Tanjungpura University class of 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 towards Hakka proverbs was relative good, this indicated that they quite understood the Hakka proverbs. The type of Hakka proverb that was most mastered by students was about "environmental/social proverb" which reached 82.17%, while those that were less mastered were about "artificial proverb" which onlyreached 78.86%. After analyzing, the writer realizes that the students already have basic knowledge about Hakka proverbs, but they rarelyuse Hakka proverbs, so there are some proverbs they have forgottenand do not understand the meaning of these Hakka proverbs.

Abstract

Proverbs can use various elements, one of which is color. As part of language, the word color has a specific cultural connotation and symbolic meaning. In different cultures, words of the same color may have the same cultural connotations, but may also have special symbolic meanings. Because China and Indonesia have certain differences in social and cultural backgrounds, psychological thoughts and habits of life, the people of the two countries also have differences in their observation and understanding of color. The author hopes that by comparing the similarities and differences of idioms in the two languages, it will be easier for students to master proverbs. Therefore, the author chose the analysis of the meaning of red in Indonesian and Mandarin idioms as a research. The author collects proverbs related to the color red, there are 15 Indonesian proverbs and 28 Mandarin proverbs. Through analytical research, the author can conclude that in all Indonesian proverbs containing red everything means neutral. In mandarin proverbs that contain a positive meaning there are 28.57%, which contain a neutral meaning there are 67.86%, and then contain a negative meaning there are 3.57%.

Abstract

To understand the process of learning Mandarin in Pontianak Bilingual Kindergarten, the author took Kinderfield Kindergarten and Adicita Mulia Kindergarten as research objects. The research methods used were purpose sampling, interviews and observations. The author will analyze relevant learning materials, learning objectives, learning evaluation, learning environment and learning methods to determine the situation of learning Mandarin in kindergartens in Pontianak. According to the results of data analysis, Mandarin classes are only given once a week at school. Because there is less time to learn Mandarin, the teacher only introduces everyday vocabulary, the aim is for students to understand the meaning of everyday Mandarin vocabulary. Teachers use translation methods, game methods, and object methods to explain vocabulary. Pontianak Bilingual Kindergarten uses various teaching methods to make the class more active, such as using children's songs, playing games together, etc. so that it can increase children's interest in learning and not put too much pressure on children. Students read the vocabulary words one by one and the teacher will evaluate their learning, to see if students have made progress in Mandarin and what help they still need.

Abstract

Reading is one of the most important components of Chinese language courses. Some people consider reading to be a difficult subject, especially for students who do not have a foundational knowledge of Chinese. During the learning process, they often encounter various difficulties. In order to identify the reasons behind students"™ reading difficulties, the author conducted a study involving first-year Accounting students at Emmanuel Vocational School. The aim of this study is to understand the reading comprehension abilities of first-year students at Emmanuel Vocational School and to identify the difficulties they face in reading Chinese texts. This study employed a quantitative research method. The data collection instruments included a questionnaire with 20 items, an interview with Chinese language teachers consisting of 5 questions, and a reading test with 20 items.The author concludes that students face four main types of reading difficulties: vocabulary difficulties, grammatical difficulties, content comprehension difficulties, and text structure difficulties. When reading texts, many students do not recognize numerous Chinese characters. Their lack of vocabulary knowledge makes it hard for them to understand the meaning of the texts. The research results indicate that first-year students at Emmanuel Vocational School still face challenges in reading Chinese texts, and their reading abilities need further improvement.

Abstract

The Chinese language has unique grammatical characteristics. Chinese grammar encompasses two main aspects: morphology and syntax. Morphology in Chinese includes many elements, including words that are similar or alike, known as synonyms. In studying synonyms, students often encounter difficulties. One of these challenges is the use of the words "yi wei" and "ren wei." To analyze in depth the errors in the use of the synonyms "yi wei" and "ren wei," this study involves students from the Mandarin Language Education Program, Class of 2022, at Tanjungpura University, using tests and questionnaires as methods. The test results show that students have not mastered the words "yi wei" and "ren wei" well, with error rates of 50.55% and 45.93%, respectively. For "yi wei," the most dominant error is in word order, reaching 74.07%. Similarly, for "ren wei," the most dominant error is also in word order, at 55.56%. The results of the questionnaire indicate that generalization of target language rules and errors in teaching methods are the main factors causing the students' mistakes. Therefore, it is recommended that to improve students' understanding of the use of "yi wei" and "ren wei," targeted teaching should be reinforced, more practical language application exercises in real situations should be included, teaching methods should be improved to reduce errors, and students should be assisted in overcoming the influence of their mother tongue interference.

Abstract

Quizizz is a application that contains online quiz games, which are mainly designed for students to play and learn at the same time. The purpose of the author's study using Quizizz application is to find out whether the use of Quizizz application is effective in improving the vocabulary mastery of Mandarin language among the second grade students of Kemala Bhayangkari Junior High School. In addition, to analyze the students' response to the use of Quizizz application. The author conducted the study using experimental, test and questionnaire methods in the second grade of Kemala Bhayangkari Junior High School. According to the results of this study, it can be seen that the students' post-test scores are higher than the pre-test scores; the average score of the students on the pre-test is 56.4, while the average score of the students on the post-test has increased to 84.5 after using the Quizizz application. Therefore, the use of Quizizz application is effective in improving Mandarin vocabulary mastery. The students' responses to Quizizz were summarized as follows: practicing vocabulary with Quizizz was fun and satisfying for the students, and they had no problems using all the features of Quizizz.

Abstract

Both Chinese and Indonesian have their own types of word reduplication, and verb reduplication is one of them. This study aims to describe the form, meaning of verb reduplication in Chinese and Indonesian, as well as to describe the similarities and differences of verb reduplication in these two languages. The research used in this paper is literature research method. Verbs in Chinese and Indonesian also have important grammatical characteristics. The results obtained are from 7 forms of Chinese verb reduplication, the AA form has the largest percentage of the data and shows the meaning of short time experienced by the action. While Indonesian verb reduplication from 5 forms with the largest percentage of the data contained in the form of partial reduplication and shows the meaning of actions that have intensity. The similarity between Chinese and Indonesian verb reduplication is that both languages have a complete form of reduplication. The difference between the two languages is that Indonesian has a hyphen (-) which indicates that the word is a reduplication, while in Chinese there is none. There are some forms of affixes in Indonesian, but not in Chinese. Chinese verb reduplication has the means "to try", while in Indonesian there is none. This research is expected to provide additional knowledge and an understanding to readers regarding the forms and meaning of verb reduplication in Chinese and Indonesian. The author also hopes that readers will train themselves to use verbal expressions in Chinese and Indonesian that have verb reduplication forms

Abstract

This research aims to investigate pronunciation issues faced by students when learning Mandarin and to evaluate and understand the impact of the video dubbing media learning method on pronunciation. Through recording and testing methods, the author found that most students experience pronunciation problems and a lack of confidence when embodying characters in videos. This is particularly evident in mispronouncing the second tone as the fourth tone and the first tone as the third tone, with students struggling to express the emotions conveyed by characters in the videos. Additionally, there are issues with the pronunciation of initial consonants. Through a questionnaire survey, the author also discovered that the majority of students believe that the video dubbing media learning method can help them practice Mandarin better, remember Mandarin characters, improve pronunciation standards, make learning more interesting, and boost their confidence. In conclusion, students consider the video dubbing media learning method as an engaging and effective tool in enhancing their Mandarin pronunciation and daily language usage skills.

Abstract

Radical literacy teaching method is a teaching method that uses radicals for literacy. The author uses the radical literacy teaching method to improve the ability of the 2021 Class A students majoring in Chinese language education at Tanjungpura University to master Chinese characters. The author uses observation method, test method, and questionnaire survey. Through the test method, the author found that the scores of the 2021 Class A students majoring in Chinese language education at Tanjungpura University have increased by an average of 22.4%. 33% of students passed the pre-test. After passing the radical literacy teaching method, 85% of the students passed the post-test. Therefore, using the radical literacy teaching method can help students memorize Chinese characters, understand the meaning of words and recognize the pinyin of words. The results of the final analysis show that the 2021 Class A students majoring in Chinese education can improve their ability to master Chinese characters by applying the radical teaching method
