The Readiness of Health & Computer Science Faculties Graduates in This Industrial Revolution 4.0 Related to English Communicative Competence (Case study at Duta Bangsa University 2019) Ratini Setyowati; Beta Setiawati

One of the phenomena in Industrial Revolution 4.0 is common digitization and ensuring constant communication between people themselves, people and devices and between devices themselves. Therefore in this Industrial revolution 4.0 or Destruction era, English Communicative Competence is one of the important skills. Based on Tracer Study of Duta Bangsa University, alumni’s English Communicative Competence has not been satisfied. The objectives of the research are to know whether the graduates are ready or not to face the Industrial Revolution 4.0?. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The research used TOEIC that was tested by International Test Center (ITC) to know the result of the research. The populations of the research were the entire students who would graduate in the academic years 2018/2019, there were 308 students from Health Faculty anda 176 students from Computer Science faculty. The researchers used TOEIC to know the English Communicative Competence of Health and Computer Science faculty graduates. The results from TOEIC showed that the higher TOEIC score was 955 (International Proficiency), the minimum score was 140 (No Useful Proficiency) and the mean score was 288 (Elementary Proficiency). It means that most of the students have not been ready to competate in this era and the graduates needs good English Communicative Competence to competate in this distruction era.

The current context under the threat of the pandemic as a result of COVID-19 is causing a series of transformations one of them is communication pattern. The government decide to close schools and campus therefore educational centers continue teaching activities from homes and use information and communication technologies. There is no direct interaction among students and students, students and teachers and other parts. The purpose of the study is to understand Student Communication Pattern in Learning Process through Social Media in Covid 19 Pandemic. This study is descriptive qualitative research, the method of the study is library research. The analyses and depictions in this study will be taken from books, journals, magazines, social media and articles that are related to the topic. The result of the study understands the student Communication Pattern in Learning Process Through Social Media in Covid 19 Pandemic.

Covid-19 as the global pandemic with social and physical distancing consequence has affected educational practices. Amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic, Schools are temporally closed therefore, students study at home, teacher adapts the situation. They have online class and online assessment as well. In this case, technology supports teaching learning process. The purpose of the study is to understand some types of Online English Assessments for during Covid-19 Pandemic. Data were collected from books, journals, news, social media and other relevant sources. Literature study is carried out to obtain the necessary data by reading the literature sources. The data collected was then analyzed qualitatively. The result of the study is Teacher can assess the EFL learning by using formative assessment, the assessment can assess reading, speaking, writing and grammar by give task activities. Beside that synchronous method is the most proper one. Teacher can use some applications that can meet the students virtually like Google meets, Zoom Meeting and other synchronous application.

Language competence is needed in this era because in this revolution industry 4.0 foreign companies can built their business in Indonesia. Therefore, as Indonesian generation must be ready to face this international competition using international languages. The purpose of the study is to Improve CEFR Level B1 Vocabularies Through Instagram. Research design used in this research was qualitative research. Literature study is carried out to obtain the necessary data by reading the literature sources. The data was collected from some English Instagram accounts in August 2022, the accounts are Bahasa Inggris Daily, Belajar_Bahasa.Inggris, Kampunginggrislc, bahasainggris, Englishtoday.bali, the result of this study is the accounts post some vocabulary, phrases/idioms for improving English skills by proving some information about proper vocabularies, synonym and how to apply them. Through Instagram, English learners can improve their vocabularies although not every account post English vocabularies that related to CEFR Level B1 Vocabularies. Conclusion of the study is Instagram can facilitates English Learners to improve their English skill.

This study aims to find out the hyperboles as one of the figurative language devices and the utilization of hyperboles in song structure (verse, chorus, bridge, outro) in Good Riddance Deluxe album by Gracie Abrams. This study employs qualitative descriptive method was utilized in analyzing and describing the hyperbole. Reflecting from the findings there are nineteen hyperboles in total, which classified and divided into each song structure. The results carried fourteen hyperboles in verse, three hyperboles in bridge along with two hyperboles in chorus. Reflecting beforehand explanation, hyperboles written in verse is dominating this study.

The importance of English in Indonesia has grown significantly in recent years. This widespread influence is obvious in various sector of Indonesia seciety, from business to education and media. Digital platforms like YouTube play a significant role in English language learning by exposing young Indonesians to English content and bilingual speakers who switch between Indonesian and English. Consequently, YouTube has become an effective tool for language learning, making English more accessible and engaging for Indonesian audiences. This study aims to analyze the types, functions and factors of code-switching used on the Korean YouTube channel Reomit. The research method involves descriptive qualitative analysis, with data collection centered on five videos from the Korea Reomit YouTube channel, focusing on themes related to meats, soupy foods, and snacks. The analysis reveals that the types of code-switching present on the Korea Reomit channel include inter-sentential, intra-sentential, and tag switching. The functions of code-switching identified in the study include discussing specific topics, emphasizing points, interjections, repetition for clarification, intention for clarification, and expressing group identity. The factors influencing code-switching are identified as participant, topic, status, and solidarity.

This study examines the use of impoliteness strategies and their relationship with gender in the animated series "Family Guy," with a specific focus on the 20th season. The objective is to determine whether the creators differentiate the use of impolite language between male and female characters and which gender employs these strategies more frequently. Using Jonathan Culpeper's 1996 frameworks, impoliteness strategies were categorized into five types: bald on record, positive impoliteness, negative impoliteness, sarcasm, and withhold politeness. A qualitative descriptive method was employed to analyse dialogues transcribed from the animations. The findings reveal six instances of impoliteness from Lois Griffin, including three bald on record utterances, two positive incivility utterances, and one withhold politeness utterance. In contrast, Peter Griffin exhibited 11 instances of impoliteness, consisting of one bald on record utterance, six positive impoliteness utterances, one negative impoliteness utterance, and three sarcastic utterances, with no examples of withhold politeness. The analysis indicates that female characters' impoliteness utterances are fewer than male characters, potentially due to limited screen time. However, the nature of Lois Griffin's impoliteness was similar to Peter's, suggesting that the creators did not design female characters to be more polite. This challenges traditional gender stereotypes regarding language use.

Desa Berjo memiliki 6 destinasi wisata yaitu Air Terjun Jumog, Telaga Madirda, Taman Hutan Raya, Candi Sukuh, Situs Planggatan dan Tenggir park yang sudah banyak dikenal masyarakat luas. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatan kompeternsi komunikasi Bahasa Inggris dan public speaking pemandu wisata di Desa Berjo Kabupaten Karanganyar Jawa Tengah. Mertode yang dilakukan pelaksana adalah dengan berkoordinasi dengan pihak pemerintah desa Berjo dan kelompok pemandu Wisata di Desa Berjo untuk mengetahui kebutuhan yang dibutuhkan untuk lebih memajukan pariwisata di Desa Berjo dan jumlah peserta pelatihan. Ada 5 kelompok pemandu wisata di Desa Berjo dan setiap kelompok menggirim 6 peserta sehingga ada 30 peserta yang mengikuti pelatihan. Pelatihan dilakukan dengan pendekatan komukasi atau communicative approach sehingga peserta mampu mengaplikasikan kompetensi komunikasi secara langsung. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah ada Sebagian besar peserta sudah mempunyai kemampuan komukasi Bahasa Inggris yang sudah cukup bagus bahkan ada 2 peserta yang merupakan mahasiswa dari jurusan Bahasa Inggris. Kendala yang dihadapi peserta untuk meningkatakan kompetensi adalah dari waktu dan wadah yang belum terkoordinasi dengan baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, pemandu Wisata di desa Berjo hanya membutuhkan wadah atau organisasi untuk saling berbagi dan praktek Bahasa Inggris agar kemampuan komunikasi mereka akan semakin sempurna.

Obama is not only popular as a president but also popular for his literary works. He has some literary works especially his popular books, such as Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, the Audacity of Hope, Change We can Believe in and others. His books can insipre others. One of his popular book is Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance. In his book he tells everything about his life, his journey to some cities and countries. He describes them well and can hipnotize the readers. The purpose of the study is to know Obama‘s characteristic through his book Dreams of My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance. This study is descriptive qualitative research, the method of the study is library research. The analyses and depictions in this studywill be taken from books, journals, magazines, and articles that are related to Barack Obama‘s book Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, beside that to complete the data the writer takes the sources from internet. The result of the study is the book reflects the character of Obama. Tik Tok is a popular platform for people to influence other by sharing status or short-form videos. the purposes of this study is to explore how visual signs, such as gold jewellery and other luxury items, are utilized in the context of flaunting wealth, and how meanings related to wealth and social status are conveyed and understood by employing the elements of Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics. The method of the study is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Semiotic analysis is used to analyze captions, video transcripts, videos, post images, and the interpretation of the messages conveyed in the images from the TikTok account @mirahayati91. The result of the study shows that the elements of Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics comprises three main elements that can be applied to analyse signs within a given content, including the gold flaunting content on Mira Hayati's TikTok account. The videos posted on @mirahayati91 attract significant public attention, as each upload elicits responses from online communities, resulting in both positive and negative comments. This dynamic showcases how Mira Hayati’s portrayal of wealth sparks diverse reactions, reflecting broader societal views on success, luxury, and social status. The conclution is Through semiotic analysis, the researcher successfully revealed the meanings behind the images and videos uploaded on the TikTok account @mirahayati91.
