Abstract

Introduction: Varnish is one of the dental materials that can be used to protect the pulp. Raw materials for making varnish were easy to be obtained using simple technique and composition. Self-processed varnish which has 40 gr of copal, 50 ml of 95% alcohol and 10 ml of chloroform was produced. When applied, varnish formed a thin film layer which tend to porous. The purpose of this study was to analyze the comparison between porosity which formed in film layer of self-processed and  factory varnish. Method: This study was true experimental with  12 third upper molars that had been cut horizontally as specimens and were divided into 2 groups as treated and control groups. First group had 1, 2, 3 and 4 times application of processed varnish as treated sample and second group samples were applied with factory varnish as control sample. Porosity was tested using SEM then its percentage was calculated by comparing the  porosity and the tooth area. The data was then tested  with t- independent test. Result: The result showed that self-processed varnish obtained larger percentage of porosity. Started at the third application time, both processed and factory varnish showed no porosity. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study was that there is difference between  porosity which formed in film layer of self-processed and  factory varnish.

Abstract

Bond strength towards dentine is a critical factor for composite restoration success. The purpose of this research was to obtain data on self-adhered composite bond strength to tooth dentine. This research was an experimental laboratory research that used 10 third molar teeth as samples. The teeth were prepared by thinning its mesial part until it reaches dentine layer. The sample was divided into two groups, each consisting of 5 teeth. In group I was applied self-adhered composite with Fusio® Liquid Dentine brand, whereas group II was applied conventional composite with Ivoclar Te-Econom Flow®. The applied composite had a cylindrical shape with 6 mm diameter. The sample was then placed on the test arm. The shear bond strength test method then conducted on Universal Testing Machine (UTM). Obtained data was tested using Two-tails Independent t-Test (α = 0,05). The results showed the average of self-adhered composite bond strength to dentine is 1,8878 ± 0,2859 MPa and conventional composite for 4,43552 ± 0,49472 MPa. The data showed that the self-adhered composite bond strength to dentine is smaller than conventional composite. From this research can be concluded that there was bond strength difference between the self-adhered composite with conventional composites towards the tooth dentine.

Abstract

Introduction: Dental alginate impression material is the most common material used in dentistry. However, dental alginate waste (DAW) is one of the causes of the increasing number of dentistry and medicinal wastes. This research was aimed to discover the effect of dental alginate impression waste as additional fertiliser on the plant yields by determining the weight of cauliflower crop, and towards the quality of soil by determining the soil pH (Ultisol® Jatinangor). Methods: The experiment was using a randomised block design with 4 treatments and 7 times replications. The treatment consisted of A0 (0% DAW as control), A1 (0.01% DAW), A2 (0.1% DAW), and A3 (1% DAW). Results: The weight of cauliflower after addition of DAW in group A0 was 72.78; A1 was 139.82); A2 was 130.69; and A3 was 60.72). While the pH soil in group A0 was 5.92; A1 was 6.07; A2 was 6.02; and A3 was 6.26. The treatment in the A1 and A2 groups were found as the significant doses that able to increase the cauliflower weight for consecutively 1.92 times and 1.80 times compared to the control group, while on the soil quality improvement (soil pH), the addition of DAW was not significantly affected. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the addition of dental alginate waste at the dose of 0.01% and 0.1% increased the weight of cauliflower, but has no significant effect on the soil quality.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh persepsi peserta didik mengenai kemampuan komunikasi guru terhadap hasil belajar ekonomi di kelas XI MA AN-NIZHAMIYYAH Cileungsi, Bogor. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah peneltian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan survey dan tes hasil belajar peserta didik. Jumlah sampelnya adalah 32 peserta didik. Adapun simpulan penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat pengaruh persepsi peserta didik mengenai kemampuan komunikasi guru terhadap hasil belajar ekonomi, dengan didukung hasil perhitungan regresi didapat adalah ? = 55,518 + 0,317???? hal ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai regresi tersebut bernilai positif dan searah, perhitungan korelasi didapat data rhitung sebesar 0,581 hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kategori hubungan yang sedang, hasil koefisien determinasi didapat jumlah kontribusi persepsi peserta didik mengenai kemampuan komunikasi guru terhadap hasil belajar sebesar 33,75 %, serta berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis didapat nilai thitung > ttabel (3,91>2,04) yang menyatakan bahwa terdapat pengaruh persepsi peserta didik mengenai kemampuan komunikasi guru terhadap hasil belajar ekonomi.Kata kunci : Persepsi Kemampuan Komunikasi, Hasil Belajar

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyze learning of craft and entrepreneurship by using curriculum of 2013 at SMA Negeri 46 Jakarta. The method used in this study is a qualitative case study approach,. The data collection methods used are interview, direct observation, documentation, and triangulation.The problem that will be studied is learning of craft and entrepreneurship of teachers and the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 46 Jakartawho use the curriculum of 2013 of Academic Year in 2014/2015. The teacher uses the scientific learning of learning craft and entrepreneurship by using the process of learning as follow as: observating, asking, collecting data, associating, and communicating. The teacher uses the authentic assesment by using the obseravtion and rubric. The teache uses the project based learning to teach the students so that they are active to study craft and entrepreneuship. By using the curriculum of 2013, the tenth grade students of SMA N 46 Jakarta can use their high level thinking, competency, intelligence, and skill to explore their capabillity of creating craft and entrepreneurship.Key word : learning of craft and entrepreneurship, curriculum of 2013

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui tentang Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) terhadap Hasil Belajar Mata Pelajaran Akuntansi di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) Nasyrul Ulum Pandeglang, Banten. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitianini adalah metode eksperimen. Dalam pelaksanaan penelitian ini melibatkan dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang diberi perlakuan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran tipe STAD, dan kelompok kontrol yang diberikan perlakuan dengan model pembelajaran ceramah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar yang menggunakanmodel pembelajran Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) lebih tinggi dari hasil belajar yang menggunakan pembelajaran ceramah atau dengan kata lain bahwa pemberian model pembelajaran Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar akuntansi peserta didik.Kata kunci : model pembelajaran Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD), model pembelajaran ceramah, Hasil Belajar Akuntansi.

Abstract

Tujuan dari diadakan abdimas pada PKBM Tunas Baru yang berada diwilayah Desa Jatibaru, Cikampek, Karawang Jawa Barat adalah untuk menerapkan metode pembelajaran secara bervariasi dalam PBM. Metode yang digunakan dengan observasi, wawancara, dan pelatihan. Hasil dari PKM pada PKBM Tunas Baru adalah: (1) Tutor mampu memahami materi yang diberikan. (2) Tutor mampu menganalisis macam-macam media pembelajaran yang akan digunakan sesuai dengan kebutuhan peserta didik. (3) Tutor mampu memotivasi diri untuk menjadi kreatif dalam menggunakan media pembelajaran.

Abstract

Di Indonesia, kemampuan literasi numerasi peserta didik masih kurang atau cukup rendah, dan diperlukan peningkatan terus menerus. Menerapkan model pembelajaran yang dapat membantu meningkatkan kemampuan literasi numerasi peserta didik adalah salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan ini. Tujuan dari abdimas ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran terbaru tentang cara literasi dan numerasi digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Dalam abdimas ini, metode yang digunakan terdiri dari tiga tahap: (1) pra-rencanaan, di mana masalah diidentifikasi, dianalisis, dan dipilih alternatif pemecahan masalah; (2) perencanaan, di mana desain kegiatan yang akan dilakukan berdasarkan hasil pra-rencanaan; dan (3) pelatihan, di mana semua perencanaan digunakan. Pemecahan masalah dalam kegiatan ini adalah transfer IPTEK dengan memberikan materi yang berguna berupa implementasi literasi dan numerasi dalam PBM yang merupakan solusi dari permasalahan mitra. Skor rata-rata yang diperoleh Guru saat pre test adalah 35 point dan skor rata-rata yang diperoleh Guru saat post test adalah 78,57 point, hal ini menandakan pelatihan literasi dan numerasi berjalan secara efektif. Dengan pelatihan ini guru dapat meningatkan Kemampuan dalam literasi dan numerasi.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: Rice husk silica has been studied as a filler in dental composite, however, the mechanical properties of the resulting composites are below the commercial due to the poor surface modification between silica and resin matrix. 3-methacryloxyprpyltrimethoxysilane (MPTS) is one of the coupling agents that are effective to modify the silica surface. The purpose of this study to analyze the effect of MPTS on the diametral tensile strength (DTS) of the self-made composite using rice husk silica.  Methods: The research type of this study was an experimental research laboratory. The samples (26 samples) were divided into two groups, namely the test group (using MPTS-modified silica) and the control group (using non-modified silica). The samples were cylindrical in shape with a diameter of 6.0 ± 0.1 mm and a height of 3.0 ± 0.1 mm according to ANSI/ADAS No. 27, 1993 and ISO 4049, 1988. The Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), HORIBA, was used to characterize the MPTS grafting on the silica surface. The DTS value is measured by Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Lloyd LRX Plus. Results: FTIR presents the additional peak of carboxyl and methacryloyl group at 1716, 1555, and 1410 cm-1 wavenumber, respectively in MPTS-modified silica. The DTS value of the test group was 43.40 ± 4.43 MPa and the control group was 25.80 ± 2.63 MPa. The test group was significantly higher than the control group (p-value = 0.001). Conclusion: The MPTS is effective to enhance the DTS value of rice husk silica-based composite.Keywords: Rice husk silica; dental composite; diametral tensile strength; 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: Calcite (CaCO3) is typically used in commercial toothpaste with particle size ranges from 1-12 μm. In the latest study, calcite was synthesized by using Ca(OH)2 precursor from natural resources However, the resulting particle size does not match the size of the toothpaste filler. This study aims to prepare micro-calcite via fine-bubble assisted carbonation as toothpaste material. Methods: The calcite powder was prepared from Ca(OH)2 analytical grade powder utilizing the fine-bubble carbonation process with the Ca(OH)2 concentration and initial pH variation. The study was started by making a Ca(OH)2 suspension with a concentration of 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1 and 1.25 M using 2.000 ml methanol as a solvent. 0.5 M NaH2PO4 solutions were utilized to adjust the initial pH of 0.5 M Ca(OH)2 suspension into 8, 9, and 10. The suspensions were aerated using CO2 fine-bubble for two hours to produce CaCO3 samples. All precipitated CaCO3 particles were characterized by PSA, Zeta-Potential, and FTIR measurements. Results: The calcite phase was identified from the FTIR transmittance. Aragonite or vaterite phase was not observed in the samples. PSA result shows the size of CaCO3 particles from samples 0.25 M to 1.25 M are as follows 3.03, 3.23, 2.79, 3.70, 0.99 μm respectively. Meanwhile, the particle sizes of CaCO3 in samples with a pH of 8, 9 and 10 are 3.00, 2.03 and 2.50 μm respectively. The zeta potential shows the value ranges from -23.2 mV to -11.9 mV, indicating fair dispersion ability. Conclusion: The fine bubble assisted carbonation method in this study helps in producing calcite in micron size that could be used as alternative fillers for toothpaste.Keywords: calcite, fine-bubble, carbonation, particle size, toothpaste
