Abstract

Ciplukan (Physalis sp.) tumbuh dan menyebar di wilayah Indonesia dengan nama lokal yang bervariasi dan dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku obat tradisional. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari hingga Juni 2020 di Seed and Nursery Industry Agro Techno Park Universitas Brawijaya, yang berlokasi di Desa Jatikerto, Kecamatan Kromengan, Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur. Bahan yang digunakan adalah 57 genotipe ciplukan koleksi Universitas Brawijaya yang terdiri dari spesies P. angulata, P. peruviana dan P. pubescens, media semai, plastik ukuran 25x20x10 cm, talang, pupuk kandang, pupuk anorganik, pestisida dan tali rafia. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode survei terhadap karakter pada setiap genotipe. Penelitian dilakukan observasi pada 37 karakter kualitatif dan pengukuran pada 17 karakter kuantitatif. Pengamatan dilakukan berdasarkan deskriptor Manual Gráfico para la Descripción Varietal De Tomate de Cascara (Physalis ixocarpa Brot. ex Horm), keragaman dengan pendekatan koefisien korelasi Pearson, sedangkan analisis filogenetik menggunakan analisis klaster dan index similarity Gower. Keragaman total yang diperoleh adalah sebesar 82,165% berdasarkan 13 komponen utama dan 22 karakter yang berpengaruh terhadap keragaman, hasil analisis filogenetik menunjukkan bahwa Physalis sp. terbagi menjadi 3 kelompok yang menunjukkan spesies berbeda, yaitu P. peruviana, P. angulata dan P. pubescens. Jarak genetik seluruh genotip menyebar antara 0,42 hingga 0,05 atau indeks similaritas sebesar 58% hingga 95%.. Jarak genetik terdekat ditunjukkan oleh genotip PAN-77211-02 dan PAN-78111-03, yaitu 0,05 atau 95%. Sementara untuk genotip yang memiliki jarak genetik terjauh adalah pada genotip PPB-68154-04-U, yaitu 0,28 atau 72%.

Abstract

Rice production still has to be increased to meet the domestic needs of consumer preferences. Therefore, it is necessary to develop rice genotypes that have agronomic characteristics which can encourage high production. The objective of this research is to examine the variability of agronomic performance as well as the genotypic and phenotypic variability of agronomic traits among rice lines and cultivars. Materials included six promising lines and four cultivars. Urea, SP-36, and KCl fertilizers are used, as well as equipment for sacks, envelopes, fungicides, and pesticides. The research was based on an experiment with a randomized block design. This research was conducted at the Experimental Field of Agriculture Faculty, Universitas Brawijaya in Jatimulyo, Malang, from March to July 2022. According to the data, there is variation in the agronomic performance of the examined genotypes. Based on the coefficient of genotypic variation value, none are classified as high. All characters had a high category of variation based on phenotypic variance.

Abstract

Every cultivar has characteristics that distinguish it from another cultivar. As opposed to within the cultivar it is required to be uniform and not indicate variations due to segregation. Knowledge of the characteristics of local rice and high-yielding cultivar will be more advantageous if it is supported by knowledge of the morphological changes of plant parts at each stage of growth. This study was conducted to determine the distinctness, uniformity, and stability of 10 potential upland rice genotypes and obtain information about growth stages based on phenology. The research was conducted based on an experimental study using a randomized block design with three replications. Observation of rice genotype characteristics was carried out based on the phenological measurement guide from the Biologische Bundesanstalt, bundessortenamt und CHemische Industrie (BBCH) for rice, and the DUS characterization guide from UPOV. The results showed that the growth stages of 10 rice genotypes consisted of 10 primary growth phases and there are variations in phenological phases in each genotype. Morphological characterization showed that 10 genotypes had a uniform and stable morphology and were grouped into 2 clusters. Cluster 1 consisting of G1, G2, G3, G4, G5, G8, and G10. Cluster 2 consists of G6, G7, and G9. The phenology of rice and morphological differences indicate variations in the genetic potential that each genotype possesses. The timing of morphological and agronomic observations of rice can be determined using the information on plant phenology.

Abstract

Sebagai komoditas dengan fungsi yang beragam dan seluruh bagian tanamannya dapat dimanfaatkan secara total, maka talas hitam sangat berpotensi untuk dikembangkan lebih lanjut sebagai bahan pangan alternatif. Oleh sebab itu penelitian terhadap spesies talas (Colocasia esculenta L.) yakni talas hitam (Alocasia plumbea nigra), kemudian dilakukan di wilayah Malang Raya sebagai salah satu sentra penghasil talas di Indonesia. Secara khusus penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sebaran, keanekaragaman dan jarak genetik serta dominansi talas hitam pada keanekaragaman spesies (Colocasia esculenta L.) di Malang Raya berdasarkan karakter morfologi. Hipotesis yang diajukan yakni, terdapat sebaran tanaman talas hitam yang luas, keanekargaman genetik rendah dengan jarak genetik rapat, adanya dominansi talas hitam pada keanekaragaman spesies (Colocasia esculenta L.) di Malang Raya berdasarkan karakter morfologi. Abstract

Nilai daya gabung digunakan untuk pemilihan tetua dan mendapatkan informasi yang diperlukan tentang aksi gen untuk mengendalikan sifat tanaman. Daya gabung umum (DGU) berhubungan dengan aksi gen aditif. Daya gabung khusus (DGK) berhubungan dengan aksi gen non aditif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui DGU dan DGK serta aksi gen hasil persilangan jagung menggunakan rancangan perkawinan line x tester. Informasi yang diperoleh sebagai acuan dalam pengembangan perbaikan populasi jagung yang berdaya hasil tinggi. Penelitian dilakukan di Desa Bendo, Kecamatan Pare, Kabupaten Kediri. Bahan genetik yang digunakan yaitu 4 tetua line (A, B, C, D), 4 tetua tester (E, F, G, H) koleksi genetik Universitas Brawijaya dan 16 hasil kombinasi persilangan. Disusun berdasarkan rancangan acak kelompok, diulang 3 kali. Karakter yang diamati meliputi umur silking (HST), umur tasselling (HST), umur panen (HST), bobot tongkol perplot (kg), potensi hasil (ton ha-1), tinggi tanaman (cm), tinggi letak tongkol (cm), panjang tongkol (cm), (cm), diameter tongkol (cm), jumlah baris biji, bobot tongkol tanpa klobot (g), bobot biji pertongkol (g), bobot 100 biji (g), rendemen (%), kadar air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa line A, B dan tester F memiliki nilai DGU baik pada karakter komponen hasil dan hasil. Galur tersebut bisa digunakan sebagai tetua penyusun dalam perakitan varietas sintetik. Kombinasi persilangan AxG, DXG, BxG, BxE, CxH., AxE, AxH menghasilkan nilai DGK baik pada karakter hasil dan komponen hasil. Dari data tersebut varian DGK secara umum lebih tinggi dibandingkan varian DGU yang mengindikasikan bahwa aksi gen non-aditif lebih mendominasi pewarisan sebagian besar karakter komponen hasil dan hasil.

Abstract

Nowadays the study of phenology has taken an important contribution to climate change research. Therefore this study observed local fruit trees species collected in the Purwodadi Botanical Gardens (PBG); they were Flacourtia rukam (Zoll & Moritzi), Limonia acidissima L., and Manilkara kauki (L) Dubard. We used fruit phenology data from 2014 to 2018 as secondary data to describe the changes. We also observed the weekly phenology of flowering and fruiting for three years from 2019 to 2022. At the same time, mesoclimates components included precipitation, maximum and minimum temperature were daily recorded by the PBG weather station measurement. Data pairs were then analyzed by using a structural modeling of WarpPLS to determine the relationship among mesoclimates and phenology variables. Research showed that phenology of flowering and fruiting of F. rukam, L. acidisissima, and M. kauki was significantly shifted from 2014 to 2022, along with changes in rainfall patterns, maximum and minimum temperatures in the PBG. Based on the Friedman test, it was shown that the maximum and minimum temperatures significantly changed (p<0.05). Five months of mesoclimates were significant predictors and affected before the measurement of phenological flowering and fruiting of three species. High precipitation significantly reduced maximum temperature, and increased minimum temperature. The high precipitation reduced the probability of flowering and fruiting initiation, except for those of L. acidissima. Increasing maximum temperature reduced flower and fruit set of F. rukam and L. acidisissima, while it reduced flowering of L. acidissima. Furthermore, minimum temperature induced flowering, except in L. acidissima.

Abstract

Cutleaf groundcherry (Physalis angulata L.) has the potential to be developed in various areas, including dryland. Information on drought-tolerant varieties, lines, or genotypes is needed for the development of cutleaf groundcherry in dryland. Selecting drought-tolerant lines is an alternative for alleviating yield loss potency caused by water shortages. A pot experiment that aimed to investigate the response of cutleaf groundcherry lines to a different level of water deficit, expressed in field capacity (FC), was run in two factors of factorial randomized block design. Each line (PA-01, PA-03, PA-05, PA-08) was set up in water deficit treatment (100, 80, 60, 40, and 20% FC). The result showed that vegetative growth and fruit production, such as fruit number and weight, mainly decreased at 60 or 40 % FC. In contrast, TSS increased at a higher water deficit which was in line with total flavonoid content, even inconsistently. PA-03 and PA-08 experienced a reduction in fruit weight at 40% FC, whereas other lines occurred at 60% FC. Water use efficiency (WUE) increased under severe water stress. Compared to other lines, PA-03 and PA-08 exhibit higher WUE at 60% FC. In conclusion, PA-03 and PA-08 lines were tolerant of water deficit.

Abstract

Proses perkecambahan padi merupakan langkah awal penting penentu perkembangan tanama dan dapat dipengaruhi oleh faktor lingkungan, seperti cekaman kemasaman. Sebagian besar lahan pertanian di Indonesia memiliki nilai pH yang rendah. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini dialakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara karakter morfologis perkecambahan padi pada fase perkecambahan pada kondisi cekaman masam terhadap hasil panen pada lahan sawah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober 2022. Percobaan perkecambahan dilasanakan di Laboratorium Pemuliaan Tanaman yang berada di Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Brawijaya, sedangkan penanaman di lahan dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan milik Universitas Brawijaya, yang terletak di Kelurahan Jatimulyo, Kecamatan Lowokwaru, Kota Malang. Media perkecambahan dipersiapkan dalam kondisi pH masam. Simulasi kondisi hujan asam atau simulated acid rain (SAR) disiapkan dengan menggunakan larutan buffer asam sulfur H2SO4. Variabel yang diamati meliputi analisis korelasi genotipik, fenotipik dan analisis jalur dilakukan menggunakan software OPSTAT. Hasil penelitan ini menunjukan bahwa karakter perkecambahan bobot kering tunas pada kondisi masam memiliki nilai korelasi genotipik dan fenotipik dan pengaruh langsung yang tinggi terhadap hasil. Karakter umur panen dan umur berbunga menunjukan nilai koefisien korelasi dan pengaruh langsung yang negatif terhadap hasil panen.

Abstract

Ercis sangat potensial dijadikan bahan genetik untuk perakitan varietas pada adaptif lingkungan tropis di Indonesia. Pendugaan heritabilitas arti sempit dan arti luas pada karakteristik fisik biji sangat penting kaitannya dengan perbaikan sifat biji dan hasil tinggi. Penggunaan Microsoft Excel dalam analisis statistik membantu menduga nilai heritabilitas arti sempit dan arti luas. Tujuan penelitian menduga nilai heritabilitas arti sempit dan arti luas pada karakteristik fisik biji ercis berdasarkan analisis statistik menggunakan Microsoft Excel. Penelitian dilakukan berdasarkan metode deskriptif. Analisis statistika menggunakan Microsoft Excel untuk menduga sebaran data dan pemusatan data. Heritabilitas arti sempit diduga berdasarkan metode realized heritability, parent-offspring dan standard unit. Heritabilitas arti luas diduga berdasarkan komponen varians. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan analisis statistika dengan Microsoft Excel dapat digunakan untuk menghitung nilai pemusatan data dan sebaran data berupa nilai varians dan kovarians untuk menduga heritabilitas arti sempit dan arti luas. Heritabilitas arti sempit pada karakteristik fisik biji menunjukkan kriteria tinggi yaitu berat biji, panjang biji, lebar biji, tebal biji, diameter geometrik biji, volume biji dan luas permukaan biji berkisar anatara 70,59-99,74% pada semua metode. Heritabilitas arti luas menunjukkan kriteria tinggi yaitu lebar biji, diameter geometrik biji, volume biji, jumlah biji per polong dan jumlah biji per tanaman berkisar antara 52,74-65,54%.
