Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

A Final Evaluation Of Expected Lines Of Yardlong Bean (Vigna sesquipedalis L. Fruwirth)  With Purple Pods. Evaluation toward expected lines yardlong bean purple pod ability conducted to obtain lines which have superiority in yield, yiled components and other traits. Evaluation was done by analyzed adaptation and stability test. Research towards 6 lines was conducted at 6 different locations based on altitude (the middle land and low land), condition areas (rainfall and temperature) as well as the conditions of cultivation (with and without mulch application). Adaptation and stability test provides information related to lines response of environmental condition for recommended cultivation on specific or all types environment. The results showed superiority pod weight per hectare of BU 1 (9,18 t ha-1) followed by BU 6 (8,81 t ha-1) and BU 4 (6,88 t ha-1). Those lines were broadly adaptive for all types of environments. Lines that adaptive in spesific environment, BU 2 (8,03 t ha-1) produced optimal yield on marginal environment, while BU 5 (10,03 t ha-1) adaptive at productive environment. Based on lines description, all lines have superiority of purple pod colored and specifically BU 3 had highest anthocyanins content.

Abstract

Phenological shifts in the emergence of vegetative and generative parts, occur due to the response of plants to water received due to climate change. The rukam tree (Flacourtia rukam (Zoll & Moritzi)) is a local Indonesian plant with potential as an edible fruit and antioxidant agent, but its existence is increasingly rare. F. rukam can be found in Pasuruan, East Java, including Purwodadi Botanical Garden (PBG) as collected plants and Sekarmojo Village as cultivated plants. These populations show a shift in phenology, but this has never been studied. This study aimed to analyze the spatial variation of the phenology of two rukam populations and its relation to plant water status, rainfall quantity (RQ), and drought days (DD). This research was conducted on two individual trees at each location, was conducted from August 2020 to October 2022 using secondary data from BMKG, such as daily rainfall and the number of days without rain. Phenology was directly observed every week with an estimated abundance of numbers 1-4; plant water status was observed by calculating relative water content (RWC); soil physical analysis was carried out in mid-season. Data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney test and SEM WarpPLS. The results showed differences in phenology in the phases of leaf fall, flower buds, young fruit, and ripe fruit on the trees in the different locations. The decreased RQ in the past month significantly reduced the RWC value of F. rukam in both places, while the number of DD contributed to a decrease in the RWC value in PBG only, not in Sekarmojo. In both sites, decreasing the RWC of the rukam increased the abundance of fallen leaves and the chances of flowering. Rainfall and drought days affected plant phenology directly or indirectly through RWC mediation. In both places, RQ had a direct positive and significant effect on blooming flowers and new leaves but had negative effect on fallen leaves. While DD had a positive effect on leaf fall, flower formation, and fruit ripening, but had a negative effect on the appearance of young fruit (in PBG). Indirectly, RQ mainly affected several phenological parameters, while DD did not affect all phenological parameters.

Abstract

Shallot are one of the agricultural products with a relatively high demand for the consumer market in Indonesia, but the productivity figure is relatively low compared to other countries (FAO, 2021). This study seeks to explore the effectiveness of the application of amino acid fertilizer and triacontanol in increasing the yield and yield components of shallot. The study was conducted in Karangploso District, Malang, from April to August 2021. In a randomized block design, this study used two factors: amino acid fertilizers (A1: 1 g plot-1; A2: g plot-1; A3: 5 g plot-1) and triacontanol (T0: 0 ppm; T1: 5ppm; T2: 10 ppm). Each combination was repeated three times. As a result, amino acid fertilizers can significantly affect the number of shallot bulbs, yields per hectare, economic weight, and economical weight loss. A significant effect was seen in the application of triacontanol on shallot yields per hectare and economic weight. The interaction of characters of bulb length was shown in the combination of 5-10 ppm triacontanol with amino acid fertilizer. The best response ranged from 10.64% to 11.67% in fertilizer with 5 g plot-1 of an amino acid fertilizer. As the doses of amino acid fertilizer in combination with triacontanol increased, the total bulb fresh weight grew as well, in which 5 g plot-1 of amino acid fertilizer could increase the weight by 45,23-45,43 g clump-1, which was greater than the response of the 1 g plot-1 amino acid fertilizer combination.
