In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang 27 Oktober 2022. pp. 589-595. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) was one of the most popular plants in Indonesia as a daily food ingredient. However, growth was often disrupted by insect pest attacks which caused economic losses. In this case, proper control was needed so that pests did not cause massive losses. One of the controls was using predatory insects. Spiders are predators that could control insect populations. This paper aimed to inventory and identify spiders on eggplant plants in Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia. The sampling method was carried out by using the direct method by hand. The research was in the form of a field survey using the Purposive Random Sampling method. Sampling of spiders in the field was carried out 3 times in each field and in the morning. The results show that there are 5 species belonging to 2 families. The six species are Oxyopes javanus, Oxyopes matiensis (Oxiopidae), Larinioides sclopetarius, Lycosa pseudoannulata, Misumena vatia (Thomisidae). There is a species that is only found in one village, namely M. vatia. The dominant spider species found were O. javanus, O. matiensis, M. vatia and L. sclopetarius. Therefore, the number of species that have been found is 5 species of spiders from the order Coleoptera. The spiders found have the potential as natural enemies for insect pests.

Palembang: Penerbit dan Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Eggplant is a type of vegetable that is favored by the community because besides having a good taste, it also contains lots of vitamins and nutrients. In eggplant cultivation, there are several obstacles that must be faced. This obstacle cannot be separated from the attack by plant pests. Plant damage caused by pests results in decreased production due to the growth and development phase of eggplant plants cannot grow and develop optimally. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of technical culture on the types of pests, population and intensity of pest attacks on purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) in Timbangan Village, Indralaya Utara District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The method used includes determining the land, determining sample plots and sample plants, as well as observing population numbers and intensity of pest attacks. The research was conducted in two eggplant fields with different plant ages. The population number and intensity of pest attacks were analyzed using the t test at the 5% confidence level. The pests found in eggplant are Spodoptera litura, Cheilomenes sexmaculata, and Atractomorpha crenulata. Statistical analysis shows that there are significant differences in the two fields due to different cultivation techniques.

Palembang: Penerbit & Pencetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Chili is an agricultural plant that is often encountered in everyday life. The productivity of chili plants depends on climate, environment, as well as pests and diseases. In several villages in Ogan Ilir Regency that we surveyed, there were several insect pests on chili plants such as aphids, ladybugs, rice bug, fruit flies and seen from some of their attacks. The purpose of this study was to identify and identify insect pests that exist in chili plants in the villages that we surveyed. This research was conducted in three villages, namely Tanjung Pering Village, Tanjung Baru Village, and Lubuk Sakti Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. The research method that we use is direct method, namely by shaking method, sweep net, and some are caught directly. The results from our survey found insect pests in the form of ladybugs, rice bug, red mites, aphids, and fruit flies. Symptoms of attack from each of these insects are that aphids cause symptoms that make the leaves on chili plants become wrinkled, yellowish and twisted so that plant growth is stunted or stunted. In fact, plants can wither and die. In insects, mites cause symptoms such as leaving a shiny brown color on the underside of the leaves. And attacks on fruit flies, which are symptoms of fruit fly attacks on chili plants are marked by a black dot at the base of the fruit. The population of insect pests that were most commonly found was in the village of Tanjung Pering.Of the various insect pests on chili, physical/mechanical control and selective use of pesticides are needed so as not to interfere with the activity of predatory insects and parasitoids.

The purpose of this study is to knowing the diversity of Hemiptera species in water spinach. This research method was carried out by field surveys in Timbangan Village, Sakatiga Village, and Tanjung Pering Village, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. Data from the research on the diversity of Hemiptera insects on water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica) were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that there were four Hemiptera species found in water spinach. The four Hemiptera species include Anasa Tritis (true ladybug), Bothrogonia ferruginea (pucung father), Boisea trivitta,  and Gonocerus akutangulatus (box bugs). Based on the four species, three of them are insects that act as phytophages in the ecosystem of life, especially in the agricultural sector. While one other species is an insect that acts as a predator (natural enemy). So, the insects that are often found in water spinach plants (Ipomoea aquatica) are Hemiptera species insects that act as phytophagoes and predators. Suggestions that can be given from the results of this study are the need for more education and understanding of the community about the various Hemiptera species that found in water spinach, especially those that are pests in the villages of Scales, Sakatiga, and Tanjung Pering, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra.

In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang 27 Oktober 2022. pp. 1049-1056. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The cause of damage to chili plants is caused by plant pest organisms (OPT), including mite-type pest organisms (Acariformes). This study aimed to inventory the types of mites that attack chili plants. Field research has been carried out on chili plants in three villages namely Timbangan Village, Pulau Semambu Village, and Palemraya Village, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra and Laboratory observations were carried out at the Entomology Laboratory of the Plant Protection Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This research was conducted starting on August 26 to September 8, 2022. Sampling was carried out descriptively and data collection in the field was carried out in a survey with systematic random sampling technique at the observation location. Sampling of chili plants was selected when the chili plants had entered the production phase which showed symptoms of attack on chili. Samples of mites were taken from the leaves and individual mites were taken and then observed under a microscope. The results obtained from all samples showed that the red mites (Tetranycus sp.) and yellow mites (Polyphagotarsonemus latus) were the red mites (Tetranycus sp.) and yellow mites (P.latus). From the samples taken from the survey in three villages, two species of mites were found. Of the 7 samples that have been identified, a red mite species (Tetranycus sp) was found in the first village located in Timbangan Village. In the second village, located in Palemraya Village, from 5 samples that have been identified, a yellow mite species (P.latus) was found. The last village, located in Pulau Semambu Village, found the same species as Palemraya Village, namely the yellow mite (P.latus). The mites found in the study in the chili area in three villages in Ogan Ilir were mites of the species Tetranycus sp and P.latus. Mite control in chili can be done biologically by utilizing natural enemies of mites such as the beetle Amblysiuscucumeris Oriusminutes, Coccinellidae Coccinellarepanda.

Abstract

Hidayat WH, Romansah E , Andriyani L, Kusuma MW, Kusuma ML, Thosin T, Umayah A, Gunawan B, Arsi A. 2022. Inventory of pest insects and predatory insects in long beans crops (Vigna sinensis L.) in Ogan Ilir District, South Sumatera. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang 27 Oktober 2022. pp. 414-422. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Pest control on long bean plants by utilizing natural enemies is part of a control method that emphasizes ecological aspects that are safe and recommended. This study aimed to determine the presence and availability of insect pests and predatory insects in long bean plantations. The types of traps used in this study were Pitfall Trap, Yellow Trap, and Sweep Net. Observations and sampling were carried out in the vegetative phase of long bean plants in three villages: Tanjung Seteko, Tanjung Pering and Permata Villages. Then, the trapped insects were put into vials that had been given 70% alcohol and identified using identification guidebooks and journals. Based on the results of the research, the insect pests found were Agelastica alni, Aphis craccivora, Aulocophora similis, Aulacophora femoralis, Bactrocera triyoni, Bactrocera dorsalis, Nezara viridula, Proxys punctulatus, Riptortus linearis, Sehirus cenctus, Spodoptera litoralis, Maruca vitrata, Brachyplatys subaeneus, Dissosteira carolina. While the predatory insects found were Coccinella transversalis, Pantala flavescens, Proctacanthus milbertii, Stagmomantis carolina, Anax parthenope, Odontoponera denticulate and Oecophylla smaradigna. The highest number of insects obtained were from pests with a total of 14 species with the most from the order Hemiptera. Thus, the availability of insect pests and predators in long bean plantations is different because farmers apply synthetic insecticides so that pest insect species dominate. Based on the observations and analysis of the results, the authors suggest that this research can be redeveloped by making observations in two phases, namely the vegetative and generative phases.
