The Condition of Special Library Services for People with Disability in "Children with Disability Foundation" (YPAC) Surabaya Mutia, Fitri

Abstract

The Research about library services for people with disabilities is still found rarely, therefore, in this  research  case,  the  researcher  try  to  discuss  the  title  in  order  to  enrich  the  librarianship scientific. This research uses a quantitative approach with the descriptive type. Some findings of the  data  presented  in  this research case  is  about  the  collection,  type  of  service,  the  library manager and  the  library  space of Surabaya’s YPAC.  In Surabaya’s YPAC is available  only  in hard copy collections amounted to approximately 1000-1500 ex, that dominated the collection of fiction  (stories/illustrated  fables).  The  condition  of  most  of  the  collection  is  very  alarming because it was never noticed, classified specifically and many collections are laid out horizontally as  high  book  shelf  height  exceeds  available.  YPAC  library  runs  only  circulation  services manually, and organized by  teachers  who  graduate from educational of  school  for  disabled (SLB). Regarding  the  library  are  in  good  condition  and  clean,  there  are  4  and  3  units  of  rack collection of tables and chairs, but the air circulation is not good because the ventilation system only comes from a window so that the temperature inside the room pretty hot.

Abstract

The existence of special library UPTD the "Kampung Anak Negeri" became one medium that can be used to develop the potential of street children themselves a growing number from year to year. This study conducted descriptive quantitative research that aim to describe the condition of special libraries in UPTD “Kampung Anak Negeri", especially in terms of collections, facilities and infrastructure, library services and human resources (librarian). The four aspects are then compared with the standard of the special library collated by the National Library in 2011. In this study, data collection technique conducted in July 2016 using interview techniques as a primary technique performed on librarians and include interviews with street children as well as staff of Colleagues   staff UPTD.  Based on the data obtained can be concluded that the amount of the book collection of about 752 titles of books, collection development has not reached 5% per year, spacious room just 35m² and has only 2 rack collection. Services available are services in place read, circulation services and information search services, while the librarians who manage only one person with a background in library and information science education. In general, special libraries UPTD condition does not meet the standard, so this affects is not maximized to support learning process as well as in facilities that match the information needs of street children.

Abstract

Abstrak Senam kaki merupakan latihan yang dilakukan bagi penderita Diabetes Melittus (DM) atau bukan penderita untuk mencegah terjadinya luka dan membantu melancarkan peredaran darah bagian kaki.Perawat sebagai salah satu tim kesehatan, selain berperan dalam memberikan edukasi kesehatan juga dapat berperan dalam membimbing penderita DM untuk melakukan senam kaki sampai dengan penderita dapat melakukan senam kaki secara mandiri. Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat dengan judul ”Pelatihan Senam Kaki Pada Penderita Diabetes Mellitus Dalam Upaya Pencegahan Komplikasi Diabetes Pada Kaki (Diabetes Foot)” telah dilaksanakan.di Perumahan Bumi Indah Pasar Kemis Tangerang Banten. Metode yang dilakukan adalah penyuluhan dan pelatihan yang bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat serta masyarakat dapat melakukan demonstrasi senam kaki. Dari kegiatan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa seluruh peserta (100%) memahami tentang diabetes melitus , tujuan dilakukannya senam kaki, mengetahui manfaat senam kaki, mengetahui indikasi dan kontraindikasi senam kaki dan antusias, perhatian serta aktif selama kegiatan pelatihan senam kaki.

Abstract

Access to information becomes an important means of achieving success in various aspects of life. Thus, it is considered the rights of every citizen without being impeded by physical or mental limitations. This study aims to analyze access to information that supports students with visual impairments (blind) in conducting learning activities at the university. This research was conducted at the Social and Political Sciences Faculty of Universitas Airlangga (Unair) Surabaya, involving 11 informants, three of whom are visually impaired students (blind) in the faculty. The results of this study indicate that according to three of the visually impaired informants the assistive technologies they used to support their learning processes, such as mobile phones, laptops, scanners, and recording devices, were provided independently. The technology is very helpful for them to obtain information validly and quickly, as well as to understand the contents of the information more easily and assist them to share the information with other colleagues. The supporting informants are 3 lecturers from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Universitas Airlangga who teach visually impaired students, 3 friends of the main informant, 1 university representative, and 1 faculty representative. This paper uses an interpretive paradigm, which aims to analyze a social reality and how that reality is formed. This research uses a qualitative type that seeks to understand social or human problems, based on the creation of a complete holistic picture that is formed with words, reports the views of informants in detail, and arranged in a natural setting.

Abstract

Introduction. Examining the value of quality space is not simple, as we not only need to see the design, but also need to feel it, particularly personal space in libraries. This article aims to examine the quality of space that may affect the user’s personal space. Methodology. This study used a quantitavie approach, purposive sampling technique, with a total sample of 100 users at the Office of Library and Archive East Java with certain criteria. Data Analysis. The primary data was converted to interval data by using MSI transformation method and tested by using validity, reliability, simple linear regression and t-test. Results and Discussion. The results show that the quality of space simultaneously have an impact on the users’ personal space, however, the strength of the impact of space quality on personal space is weak. Conculsion. Quality of space that is not ideal may disturb the personal space of library users. This research may become a reference in designing library space based on user needs.

Abstract

The development of a social inclusion-based library located in Pesing Village, Purwoasri District, Kediri, can raise the welfare of the local community through the use of the collections provided. In this community service, socialization is given to participants who come from the local community, represented by village officials, teachers, youth organizations, while the material presented is the concept and implementation of Social Inclusion-Based Libraries and how to collection management like make collection subjects, classify collections to choose the right collection. for the community according to their livelihood. The Department of Information and Library of Airlangga University as the organizer of the activity also donated various collections, covering themes of agriculture, plantations, fishery sector development, and many other general themes that can be utilized to develop the economic activities of the local community. Social inclusion through village library services deserves to be counted as the main driving force for all community activities. Through the collections provided by the village library, it is hoped that the community can develop their skills and knowledge to produce a variety of new livelihoods, and have a real impact on improving the welfare of their families. Through the training for village library managers, it was found that their understanding of libraries became wider, including they began to understand how to manage collections in accordance with library management rules

Abstract

Perpustakaan berbasis inklusi sosial menjadi agenda penting dalam menyelenggarakan program transformasi perpustakaan khususnya perpustakaan desa. Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Gresik berupaya untuk meningkatkan peran dan fungsi perpustakaan desa di wilayahnya dengan mendukung program peningkatan literasi masyarakat. Pengabdian masyarakat kepada masyarakat dilakukan untuk penguatan literasi dalam mewujudkan kesejahteraan masyarakat dengan menjadikan perpustakaan desa sebagai sarana kegiatan dan belajar. Sasaran program ini adalah 27 perpustakaan desa percontohan di Kabupaten Gresik. Pengabdian masyarakat ini menggunakan metode PAR (Participatory Action Research) untuk melihat dan memahami gejala sosial terkait pengembangan perpustakaan desa. Adapun implementasinya, program ini telah melakukan metode-metode: 1). Persiapan; 2). Pelaksanaan; 3). Focus Group Discussion (FGD); 4). Monitoring; 5). Evaluasi. Tujuan akhir yang ingin dicapai dari program ini adalah adanya peningkatan literasi dalam meningkatnya minat baca masyatakat desa. Hasil program pengabdian ini adalah peserta yang mengikuti pelatihan mendapatkan pengetahuan serta skill yang lebih terasah untuk diterapkan dalam perpustakaan desanya untuk mendukung pengembangan perpustakaan desa berbasis inklusi sosial. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa program pengabdian ini dapat menambah pengetahuan manajemen perpustakaan desa dan menyebarluaskan keterampilan teknis yang penting untuk keberlanjutan perpustakaan desa berbasis inklusi sosial.
