Abstract

This research aims to find out the description of soybean farming in Grobogan Regency, the efficiency of technical, price, and economy on soybean systems. Grobogan Regency is a major soybean producer in Central Java and Indonesia.  Based on the research result, it reveals that soybean farming in Grobogan has still not been efficient yet in technic, price, and economy. It means that farmers have not been able to optimize the inputs to obtain the maximum output. This inefficiency condition occurs because the farmers are considered to use the production factors excessively. Besides damaging the nature, the use of excessive production factors also leads to increasing production costs but without maximal results. Therefore, it requires a series of attempts to give knowledge to the farmers in order to reach efficient conditions by hoping that potential to maximized profitKeywords: Efficiency, Soybean, Grobogan

Abstract

Population is concentrated in urban areas can cause the external diseconomies on environment if it exceeds the carrying capacity of the space and the urban economy. Otherwise the quality of the environment is getting better, led to the concentration of population in urban areas are increasingly high. This study aims to analyze the relationship of causality between the urban concentration and environmental quality in urban agglomeration areas. The data used in the study of secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of statistics and the City Government from 2000 to 2013. The analytical method used is the Granger causality and descriptive. Granger causality study results showed no pattern of reciprocal causality, between urban concentration and the quality of the environment, but there unidirectional relationship between the urban concentration and environmental quality. This means that increasing urban concentration led to decreased environmental quality.

Abstract

The implementation of regional autonomy indirectly requires regions to be independent, the level of independency in Central Java which is measured by the ratio of Local Own-source Revenue to total regional revenue of 18.2%, which is the lowest compared to other regions in Java in the 2015-2018 period. Central Java's low independency is in line with its dependency on transfers from the central government, particularly the general allocation fund of 40%. Low independency and high dependency is due to the lack of ability of Local Own-source Revenue to meet regional expenditures and the large role of general allocation fund in meeting these shortages. This study aims to analyze the effect of general allocation funds and local own-source revenue on regional expenditures. This study uses a quantitative method with panel data combination of cross-section data from 35 districts/cities in Central Java Province and time-series data for the period 2016-2018. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression. The results of this study indicate that the general allocation fund has a significant and more dominant positive effect on regional expenditures and also local own-source revenue shows a significant positive effect on regional expenditures, which means that the greater the value of local own-source revenue and general allocation fund, the greater the value of regional expenditures. Simultaneously, general allocation funds and local own-source revenue have a significant positive effect on regional expenditures.

Abstract

The increase in agricultural production has become a global issue related to food security. Indonesia faces challenges in fulfilling its food needs. Climate change, land conversion, and industrialization play a role in food crop production. This study aims to examine the short-term and long-term effects of climate change, land conversion, and industrialization on the food production index. The analysis method used is the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL). The ARDL analysis was chosen because it can explain the short-term and long-term effects as well as the effects at each lag time. The results showed that there is positive and significant long-term cointegration or influence between rainfall, per capita energy consumption, agricultural land area, and forest area on the food production index. There is also a significant negative long-term effect between air temperature, industrialization, and population density on the food production index. In the short term, the previous year's food production, land area and forest area, air temperature, energy consumption, rainfall in two and three years ago, current of industrial share, and one and two years ago industrial share, population density two years ago influence the current food production index. The conclusion and findings of this study are that there is long-term cointegration and short-term effects at different lag times for climate change, land conversion, and industrialization variables on the food production index.

Abstract

The green campus program is an effort made by the Indonesian government to overcome environmental problems that occur due to pollution, one of which is the Surakarta City Government. By involving tertiary institutions, it is hoped that it will be able to become a concrete example of the realization of greening for the surrounding community to help create a green and environmentally friendly city. The high level of pollution that occurs is certainly accompanied by the high use of motorized vehicles. The purpose of this research is to determine the priority order of strategies that must be carried out to realize a green campus through sustainable transportation at Universitas Sebelas Maret. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data used are primary data. The analytical tool used is the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) which is used to determine the priority order of strategies in realizing a green campus through sustainable transportation at Universitas Sebelas Maret. The results showed that the order of priority strategies in realizing a green campus through sustainable transportation is improving the quality of the environment, developing facilities and infrastructure and university policies. Based on these priorities, there must be collaboration that is also carried out by the academic community in order to realize this green campus. In addition, all strategic plans that have been prepared must be carried out accordingly.

Abstract

Indonesia has an economic transformation. However, it tends to experience deindustrialization and development inclusivity challenges. This research examines the influence of industrialization and inclusivity to improve welfare in the short and long term. The analytical method is Autoregressive Distributed Lag, using province-level panel data from 2012–2021. Based on results, industrialization has not significantly affected welfare improvement in the short term. Inclusivity has no significant impact in the short term, but it has a negative direction. However, in the long term, industrialization and inclusivity positively and significantly increase welfare. This confirms that industrialization and inclusivity require time to create welfare.

Abstract

Farmers' Terms of Trade is an essential variable for measuring welfare and is also affected by other factors, such as inflation and rice prices. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the interplay among inflation, rice prices, and farmers' Terms of Trade in food crop farming in Central Java Province, in short and long term using a dynamic model. A quantitative method employing Autoregressive distributed lags (ARDL) model was used with monthly data from January 2018 to March 2023. The results showed that rice prices and inflation partially had a significant and positive influence on farmers’ Terms of Trade in long term. According to short term estimation, the dependent variable was significantly and positively influenced by farmers' Terms of Trade from the previous 1-2 months. Inflation rate was also shown to have a positive influence on the variable in short term. In addition, rice prices had a positive and significant impact in the previous 3 months, but had no significant influence in recent months. Based on the results, inflation could positively influence farmers’ Terms of Trade in short and long term. However, the recent rice prices had no impact due to the requirement of time lags. The assessment findings showed that recent rice prices could significantly increase farmers’ Terms of Trade in the next 3 months and long term period.
