Abstract

The development of the 21st century demands that students not only have the ability to think critically and creatively, but also communication skills, especially in mathematics learning. However, various studies show that students still have difficulty communicating their mathematical ideas, both verbally and in writing, especially when working in groups and facing contextual problems. The purpose of this study is to describe the mathematical communication profile of students in solving contextual problems collaboratively reviewed based on high, medium, and low self-efficacy. A qualitative approach with an exploratory research type is used in this study. The subject of the study is a student of class XI MAN 2 Malang. The research data were obtained through the results of the Contextual Problem Solving Task (TPMK) and interviews. Data analysis was carried out by the triangulation method. The results showed that students with high self-efficacy tended to communicate their mathematical ideas orally. Students with self-efficacy showed balanced verbal and written communication but were less consistent in explaining mathematical models and operations, while students with low self-efficacy were more dominant in written communication.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning ability is a person's ability to think logically in drawing a conclusion from problem solving in the mathematics learning process. By thinking logically, students can have confidence that the mathematics they learn is reasonable so that it affects the mathematical information and knowledge that students receive. It will also lead to different perceptions of each student in participating in mathematics learning. To determine the ability of mathematical reasoning when viewed from the perception of students, it can be done by giving geometry questions. The purpose of this study was to describe the mathematical reasoning ability of students with positive and negative perceptions in working on geometry problems. This research uses a qualitative approach with exploratory descriptive research. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Balongbendo with the research subjects of two students of class VIII E, with each of them being a student with positive perceptions and a student with negative perceptions. Data collection techniques used are tests and interviews, while to determine the validity of the data using time triangulation. The results of this study indicate that students with positive perceptions can achieve every indicator of mathematical reasoning ability. While students with negative perceptions have not been able to fulfill every indicator of mathematical reasoning ability.

Abstract

Every student's mathematical creative thinking can change at any time or have a dynamic nature (Astra et al., 2022). These changes can be caused by the level of difficulty of learning materials and the students themselves. The research data was taken through the results of giving HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill) questions about flat shapes to class VIII MTs Negeri 1 Malang City. The questions are validated before being given to students, in order to measure the level of creative thinking in students. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that uses time triangulation in collecting data. By testing 4 (four) Guilford creativity indicators consisting of originality, elaboration or detail, fluency and flexibility in the research subject. The research subjects who were given HOTS questions and interviews were 2 male students and 2 female students. Test data were collected twice at different times and interviewed twice after giving HOTS questions. The results of the study can be concluded that, men and women fulfill 4 (four) Guilford creativity indicators. However, male students have a prominent indicator of flexibility and female students naturally have an indicator of originality. This study shows that Guilford's creativity which links cognitive and creative thinking can be tested on students' thinking abilities. There is an influence of gender on the indicators of flexibility and originality. This is because there are patterns of interaction, then the ability to explore and describe each of the different male and female students.

Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts is an important aspect in achieving optimal mathematics learning outcomes. Understanding mathematical concepts is also an important foundation for thinking in solving mathematical problems and everyday problems. Students can easily solve math problems if they understand the concepts well. One of the mathematical abilities that plays an important role in understanding concepts is the ability of metacognition. With the ability of metacognition, students can easily control and regulate what is learned. So this study aims to describe the understanding of mathematical concepts in terms of students' metacognition ability in solving story problems. This study used qualitative research methods with a phenomenological approach. The subjects in this study amounted to 6 grade VII students of SMP Negeri 4 Malang and the subject retrieval technique used purposive sampling. The data collection techniques used are tests and interviews, while to find out the validity of using triangulation techniques. The results of this study show: 1) students with high metacognition ability meet all indicators of instrumental understanding and complete relational understanding and students are able to explain the reasons for the answers obtained so that they are classified as having relational understanding. 2) Students with moderate metacognition ability are able to meet the instrumental comprehension indicator while for the relational comprehension indicator there are two indicators that can be met but are lacking and three indicators have not been met, and students are able to explain the reasons for some of the answers given, so they are classified as having instrumental understanding that is skewed towards relational understanding. 3) students with low metacognition ability are only able to meet the indicators Instrumental understanding and does not meet all indicators of relational understanding and students have not been able to explain the answers obtained so they are classified as having instrumental understanding. ABSTRAK Pemahaman konsep matematis menjadi aspek penting dalam mencapai hasil belajar matematika yang optimal. Pemahaman konsep matematis juga merupakan landasan penting untuk berpikir dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika maupun permasalahan sehari-hari. Siswa dapat mudah menyelesaikan masalah matematika jika telah memahami konsep dengan baik. Salah satu kemampuan matematika yang berperan penting terhadap pemahaman konsep adalah kemampuan metakognisi. Dengan adanya kemampuan metakognisi, siswa dapat dengan mudah mengontrol dan mengatur apa yang dipelajari. Sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemahaman konsep matematis ditinjau dari kemampuan metakognisi siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 6 siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Malang dan teknik pengambilan subjek menggunakan purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes dan wawancara, sedangkan untuk mengetahui keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi teknik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan: 1) siswa dengan kemampuan metakognisi tinggi memenuhi semua indikator pemahaman instrumental dan pemahaman relasional secara lengkap serta siswa mampu menjelaskan alasan dari jawaban yang diperoleh sehingga tergolong memiliki pemahaman relasional. 2) siswa dengan kemampuan metakognisi sedang mampu memenuhi indikator pemahaman instrumental sedangkan untuk indikator pemahaman relasional terdapat dua indikator yang dapat dipenuhi tetapi kurang dan tiga indikator belum terpenuhi, serta siswa mampu menjelaskan alasan dari sebagian jawaban yang diberikan, sehingga tergolong memiliki pemahaman instrumental yang condong pada pemahaman relasional. 3) siswa dengan kemampuan metakognisi rendah hanya mampu memenuhi indikator pemahaman instrumental dan tidak memenuhi semua indikator pemahaman relasional serta siswa belum mampu menjelaskan atas jawaban yang diperoleh sehingga tergolong memiliki pemahaman instrumental.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the integration of Islamic values into the teaching of social arithmetic at the junior high school level through a contextual approach, to identify forms of Islamic value representation within the instructional module, and to explore students’ perceptions of mathematical understanding through an Islamic narrative-based approach. This qualitative descriptive research employed data collection techniques including document analysis of the module, semi-structured interviews, and limited classroom observation. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the module “Young Muslim Entrepreneur with Mathematics” successfully integrates Islamic values into social arithmetic content through meaningful storytelling and reflective learning activities. Islamic values are represented through selected Qur’anic verses, hadiths, contextual stories, calculation problems, and learning tasks aligned with sharia principles such as honesty, prohibition of usury (riba), zakat, and social responsibility. Students demonstrated improved conceptual understanding and increased motivation to learn mathematics through this integrative approach. The modules analyzed in this study are the results of the development of the theses of students in the Masters Program in Mathematics Education. These findings suggest that mathematics learning integrated with Islamic values not only enhances cognitive comprehension but also contributes to character formation and students’ spiritual awareness. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan integrasi nilai-nilai Islam dalam pembelajaran aritmetika sosial tingkat SMP melalui pendekatan kontekstual, mengidentifikasi bentuk representasi nilai keislaman dalam modul pembelajaran, serta mengeksplorasi persepsi siswa terhadap pemahaman konsep matematika melalui pendekatan berbasis kisah Islami. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui analisis dokumen modul, wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan observasi terbatas. Analisis data dilakukan dengan model Miles dan Huberman yang mencakup reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul “Pengusaha Muslim Muda bersama Matematika” berhasil mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai Islam ke dalam materi aritmetika sosial melalui narasi kontekstual dan aktivitas reflektif. Representasi nilai keislaman ditampilkan dalam bentuk ayat, hadis, konteks kisah, soal perhitungan, dan aktivitas pembelajaran yang mencerminkan prinsip-prinsip syariah seperti kejujuran, larangan riba, zakat, dan tanggung jawab sosial. Siswa menunjukkan pemahaman konsep matematika yang lebih baik serta minat belajar yang meningkat melalui pendekatan ini. Modul yang dianalisis dalam penelitian ini merupakan hasil pengembangan dari tesis mahasiswa Program Magister Pendidikan Matematika. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pembelajaran matematika berbasis integrasi nilai keislaman tidak hanya memperkuat pemahaman kognitif, tetapi juga berkontribusi pada pembentukan karakter dan kesadaran spiritual peserta didik.

Abstract

In this study, there is no division between addiction in the mild and severe stages. Therefore, it is necessary to divide the stages of addiction because the healing is clearly different. Therefore, in this study, a modified dynamic analysis of the Social Media addiction model is carried out to obtain a valid model that can be implemented in real life. This study aims to find the stability of changes in the Addicted variable which is divided into two, namely Social Media addiction in the mild stage and Social Media addiction in the severe stage  There are six models that have been modified in this study, namely, individuals who do not have Social Media but are vulnerable to addiction , individuals who have Social Media but are not yet at the addiction stage , individuals infected with Social Media addiction in the mild stage , individuals infected with Social Media addiction in the severe stage , individuals who are recovering from Social Media addiction , individuals who are completely recovered from Social Media addiction . The steps of dynamic analysis include determining the equilibrium point, analyzing the stability of the equilibrium point, finding the basic reproduction number, numerical simulation of all variables. The results showed that the population of individuals infected with Social Media addiction in the mild stage  was at a value of 1.6112 with t = 4 years while the population of individuals infected with Social Media addiction in the severe stage  was at a value of 36.542 with t = 4 years. This study provides information that the dynamic analysis carried out on the modified mathematical model of Social Media addiction shows a stable condition.

Abstract

This research investigates the application of optimal control in the Susceptible, Exposed, Addicted, Recovery, Quit (SEA_1 A_2 RQ) model to address social media addiction. The primary objective is to develop an effective control strategy to reduce the prevalence of social media addiction. The methodology employs Pontryagin's maximum principle to formulate the optimal control problem, incorporating two time-dependent control variables: control (u_1) and treatment (u_2). The optimal control model is numerically simulated using the 4th-order Runge-Kutta method. Comparative analysis of the simulation results, with and without control, demonstrates significant differences in all population groups after four years. The findings reveal that implementing control (u_1) and treatment (u_2) markedly decreases the number of individuals addicted to social media, highlighting the efficacy of the proposed strategy in mitigating social media addiction.Keywords: optimal control; social media addiction model; Pontryagin maximum principle. AbstrakPenelitian ini mengkaji penerapan kontrol optimal pada model Susceptible, Exposed, Addicted, Recovery, model Quit (SEA_1 A_2 RQ)  untuk menangani kecanduan sosial media. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan strategi kontrol yang efektif untuk mengurangi jumlah individu yang mengalami kecanduan media sosial. Metodologi penelitian ini menggunakan prinsip maksimum Pontryagin untuk merumuskan masalah kontrol optimal, yang menggabungkan dua variabel kontrol bergantung pada waktu: pengendalian (u_1) dan pengobatan (u_2). Model kontrol optimal disimulasikan secara numerik menggunakan metode Runge-Kutta orde 4. Analisis komparatif dari hasil simulasi, dengan dan tanpa kontrol, menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan pada semua kelompok populasi setelah empat tahun. Temuan tersebut mengungkapkan bahwa penerapan pengendalian (u_1) dan pengobatan (u_2) secara signifikan mengurangi populasi pengguna kecanduan sosial media, yang menyoroti kemanjuran strategi yang diusulkan untuk mengurangi kecanduan sosial media.Kata Kunci: kontrol optimal; model kecanduan media sosial; prinsip maksimum Pontryagin. 2020MSC: 49N90, 91D10, 92B05.
