Abstract

This study examines leadership in the Old Testament narrative, focusing on the dynamic tension between divine calling and the crisis of human authority within the framework of God’s sovereignty. Employing a narrative hermeneutic method, the analysis centres on key leadership texts featuring figures such as Jacob, Moses, Gideon, Ruth, David, and King Uzziah, aiming to elucidate how leadership authority is established, challenged, and at times compromised by human ambition. The findings reveal that leadership in the Old Testament is fundamentally a form of stewardship grounded in faithfulness to God’s holiness and submission to His sovereign will, while simultaneously confronting the persistent human tendency towards domination and self-assertion. This study highlights that the successes and failures of these leaders reflect the ongoing tension between divine will and human aspiration, offering pertinent insights for contemporary understandings of leadership within spiritual and ethical contexts. The novelty of this research lies in its comprehensive thematic integration of leadership narratives within the Old Testament tradition, contributing significantly to both theological discourse and practical leadership studies.

Abstract

This study investigates the interplay between the folk religion of the Dani people in Baliem Village, Papua, and its potential to inform a local theology that supports contextual ministry. By applying an ethnotheological framework, the research examines how Dani cultural and religious beliefs—particularly those enshrined in the Nabelan-Kabelan and Naruekul mythologies—can serve as a foundation for contextual evangelism. Through qualitative methods, including ethnographic fieldwork and content analysis of relevant literature, this study identifies key elements of Dani folk religion that either hinder or facilitate the integration of Christian teachings within Dani society. The findings highlight the intricate relationship between indigenous spirituality and Christian ethics, suggesting that a contextualised approach to ministry is crucial for effective evangelism among the Dani people. The paper concludes by offering recommendations for the development of contextual ministry strategies that engage with the Dani’s cultural and theological worldview.

The causal factors include the husband's uncontrolled behavior and lust due to being influenced by alcohol, there is cultural influence regarding sexual obligations that the wife is expected to comply with, as well as economic dependence so that the victim woman is reluctant to resist her husband's coercion. The impact experienced by victims of sexual violence is mild, such as through verbal abuse through curses from their husbands, to experiencing severe sexual violence such as experiencing beatings, detention and being forced to have sexual relations. In this study, researchers conducted pastoral counseling conversations (PKP) with subjects using an integrative approach to the core subject cases. So it is hoped that the approach and methods in this research can provide recommendations and education to prevent acts of marital rape.

Abstract

This study examines the meaning of Christmas from a biblical perspective and explores how its values can be lived out and proclaimed daily by believers. Christmas is often observed as an annual tradition without a profound understanding of the incarnation of Christ and the fulfilment of God's promise of salvation. The research employs biblical hermeneutics, utilising an expository approach and thematic analysis of Old and New Testament texts. The findings reveal that Christmas affirms Jesus as the HaMoshia (Saviour), reflects the paradox of the Kingdom of God, and serves as a call to proclaim the Gospel. In conclusion, Christmas is not merely an annual celebration but a summons to live in the light of Christ and to proclaim the message of salvation to the world each day.

Abstract

This article examines biblical eschatology as a coherent theological metanarrative unfolding from creation to consummation in Christ, in whom all things hold together (Colossians 1:17). Eschatology is approached not as a speculative doctrine concerned primarily with future events, but as a present and ongoing reality grounded in the redemptive work and restorative reign of Christ. Through a qualitative theological methodology, employing canonical hermeneutics and lexical analysis of the term ἔσχατος, the study traces the eschatological trajectory of Scripture as it coheres around the person and work of Christ. This trajectory encompasses the original act of creation, its distortion through sin, the inauguration of restoration through the cross and resurrection, and its ultimate consummation in the new creation. Particular attention is given to Revelation 21, where the eschaton is depicted not merely as temporal finality but as the fulfillment of all things in Christ (παλινγενεσία), thereby revealing the divine purpose to restore creation through Him. This eschatological vision carries significant implications for the life and identity of God’s people as a whole. Those who are united in Christ are called to live in light of the inaugurated eschaton, embodying and enacting His restorative work in the world as a foretaste of the coming fullness. In this sense, the community of believers participates corporately in Christ’s renewing mission, manifesting even now the reality of the new creation toward which all history moves. The article thus offers an integrative framework that unites doctrine and discipleship, hope and mission, situating the vocation of God’s redeemed people within the telos of His redemptive purpose from creation to consummation in Christ.

Abstract

This article analyses the Exodus as a manifestation of the missio Dei that reveals God’s theology of liberation within salvation history. Employing a qualitative method through content analysis of biblical texts, this study highlights God’s actions of “seeing” (r?’? r?’îtî), “hearing” (š?ma‘tî), “knowing” (y?da‘tî), and “coming down” (y?radtî lehatsîl?m) to deliver His people from Egyptian oppression (Exod. 3:7–8). These actions demonstrate that mission originates from God’s own initiative, grounded in love, justice, and faithfulness to the berith (covenant). The findings indicate that liberation in the Exodus is holistic in nature, encompassing spiritual, social, ethical, and ecological dimensions. The contemporary Church is called to participate in the missio Dei by embodying signs of the Kingdom of God through authentic worship, social justice, and the restoration of creation.
