Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes the impact of macroeconomic indicators and global oil prices on Indonesia's crude oil exports to South Korea, one of its strategic trading partners in the East Asia region.Method: A quantitative approach was employed using annual time series data comprising 24 observations from 2000 to 2023. Secondary data were obtained from official sources such as Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the World Bank, and Index Mundi. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method. Results: The analysis indicates that South Korea’s inflation and GDP per capita growth positively affect Indonesia’s crude oil exports to the country. Conversely, the exchange rate and global oil prices negatively impact these exports.Practical Implications for Economic Growth and Development: These findings provide relevant policy insights for the Indonesian government in responding to global economic dynamics, including strategies for exchange rate stabilization, export market diversification, and strengthening economic diplomacy.Originality/Value: This study makes an original contribution by specifically examining the bilateral relationship of Indonesia’s crude oil exports to South Korea based on the dynamics of external variables. Its focus on a specific region and extended time coverage renders it a unique study that delivers tangible contributions rarely found in Indonesia’s international trade literature.

Abstract

International trade is the exchange of goods and services between citizens of two or more countries by mutual agreement. However, the increasingly intensive trade can trigger conflicts during trade, which are called trade wars. The current trade war between the United States and China is playing with each other's trade tariffs. This research analyzed the influence of the US-China Trade Balance, ASEAN balance of payments, and imports related to ASEAN-4 economic conditions. This observation selects secondary data from the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), and CEIC Data. The data used in this research is panel data on 4 ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand, in 2017-2020. Meanwhile, the analysis technique uses the Common Effect Model (CEM) approach. The final calculation results show that the US-China trade balance and import variables influenced ASEAN-4 economic conditions in 2017-2020.

Abstract

Attention to women's involvement in the workforce is increasing in social and economic development, particularly in developing countries such as those in ASEAN. However, data indicates that despite progress, the Gender Inequality Index (GII) remains high in ASEAN countries. This condition underscores the importance of focusing specifically on women's empowerment, reproductive health, and participation in the labor market. This research analyzes the influence of wages, women's involvement in parliament, women's life expectancy, fertility rates, and maternal mortality rates on women's labor participation rates in ASEAN. Data for this research was acquired from the World Bank. The study is quantitative, utilizing panel data regression analysis from 2011-2022, covering 11 ASEAN countries, using the Random Effects Model (REM) approach. The research findings indicate that wage, women's life expectancy, fertility rate, and maternal mortality rate variables significantly influence women's labor participation rates in ASEAN from 2011-2022, while women's involvement in parliament does not significantly affect women's labor participation rates. Therefore, ASEAN countries' governments should increase women's wages and healthcare access, promote family planning, support gender equality in education and employment, and enhance women's political participation.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors that influence Indonesia’s exports to 10 destination countries, namely China, USA, Japan, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Rep. Korea, Vietnam, and the Netherlands, during 2018-2022 using a panel data regression model. The variables used are the number of workforce, digital economy, per capita income, and foreign investment as independent variables. At the same time, total exports are the dependent variable. The results of the analysis show that the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) is the best, where per capita income, foreign investment, and exchange rates do not have a significant effect on exports. This study found that the workforce and digital economy positively affect Indonesia’s exports. Countries with a skilled workforce and the application of digital technology encourage increased exports through increased productivity and operational efficiency. The existence of Indonesian economic policies that emphasize the development of workforce quality and the adoption of digital technology can provide insights that can be realized in activities. Implications provide insight into creating digital infrastructure from various parties that can collaborate to create a digital infrastructure for exports.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Digital infrastructure factors such as Base Transceiver Station (BTS) and internet-using households play a crucial role in driving agricultural transformation in Indonesia, although their distribution remains uneven. Data BPS for the period 2019–2021 indicate an increase in the number of BTS across provinces, yet the level of internet penetration in agricultural households is still constrained by digital literacy and network quality. This condition raises the question of how far digitalization can enhance corn productivity as one of the nation’s strategic commodities. This study aims to analyze the influence of harvested area, informal labor in the agricultural sector, BTS, and internet-using households on corn production in Indonesia. The method employed is panel data regression with a Fixed Effect Model (FEM), using secondary data from 34 provinces during the 2019–2021 period. The results show that harvested area and BTS have a significant positive effect on corn production, while informal labor in the agricultural sector has no significant effect. In contrast, internet-using households have a significant negative effect, suggesting that internet access without agricultural digital literacy has not been utilized optimally. The main contribution of this study lies in integrating traditional factors (harvested area, informal labor in the agricultural sector) and digital factors (BTS, internet-using households) into a single national model. This research emphasizes that agricultural digitalization requires equitable infrastructure development and stronger digital literacy to enhance productivity and strengthen food security. These findings can provide important input for the government in shaping the direction of agricultural digitalization policies that are more inclusive and sustainable. Keywords:  Corn production; agricultural digitalization; digital literacy; food security.
