Abstract

Poor hand washing of nurses and unhealthy hospital environments contribute to the occurrence of nosocomial infections. Nurses who do not wash their hands before and after the procedure can become an intermediary for infection in patients at the service site or hospital and spread various multi-resistant organisms. This research aims to identify nurses' hand washing compliance and related factors. A descriptive correlation design was conducted in a hospital in West Java. Data on nurse characteristics and hand washing compliance were taken using a five moments test questionnaire cross-sectionally among nurses using the total sampling method and analyzed univariately and bivariately using descriptive analysis and the chi square test. A total of 67 nurses were involved in this research, the majority of respondents were aged 25-35 years (43/64.2%), women (42/62.7%), had a bachelor's degree (36/53.8%), had worked less than 5 years (42/62.7%) , lack of knowledge (35/52.2%), and have a positive attitude (38/56.7%), generally do not comply with hand washing protocols (34/50.7%). The nurse's age is related to hand washing compliance (p 0.002 < α 0.05), while gender (p 0.242), education (p 0.534), length of work (p 0.874), knowledge (p 0.907), and attitude (p 0.397) have α value > 0.05. Nurses' hand washing compliance is still less than the target. Age is related to nurses' compliance in implementing hand hygiene. Meanwhile, gender, education, length of work, knowledge and attitudes are not related to nurse compliance. Efforts are needed to increase nurses' knowledge to increase nurses' compliance in washing hands.

Abstract

In physical education, many aspects must be considered so that it can see whether the physical education learning provided can provide good results, in physical education it is very important to evaluate students so that teachers can provide direction for effective learning, this must be reviewed with the level of fear of negative evaluation in students so that teachers can adjust what will be given to students. This study aims to determine the level of fear of negative evaluation in physical education based on gender and age. The research method used is descriptive quantitative method using survey research design by distributing questionnaires through Google Form which is done directly. The population in this study were grade XI students in 3 high schools with a total of 610 students. The researcher's sampling technique used Purposive Sampling technique by including grade XI students, students aged 16-17 years. The instrument used in this study is the Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale from Leary (1983). All data collected from the research sample were tested for assumptions, namely normality and homogeneity, after declaring the data to be normally distributed and homogeneous, then the analysis was carried out using the mean difference test (Independent T-Test). The results of the analysis show that the level of FNE of male and female students is significantly different (p_value 0.00 < 0.05), and also based on age, there is a significant difference (p_value 0.03 < 0.05). Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the level of FNE in physical education based on gender and age has different FNE. Important implications of the results of this study, considering the category of gender and age differences should be distinguished as one of the psychological parameters both in the form of assistance and intervention can be given to students in physical education so that learning takes place effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of handpaddle use on 50-meter freestyle sprint speed in female novice athletes from the PRI Aquarius Club Bandung. The background of this study is based on the importance of speed as a primary indicator of swimming performance, where arm muscle strength and stroke technique efficiency are determining factors. Handpaddles were chosen as a training medium because they provide additional resistance that can increase strength while improving stroke technique. The research method used an experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study sample consisted of 10 athletes selected by purposive sampling and divided into two groups: the experimental group with handpaddle training and the group without handpaddles. The research instrument was a 50-meter freestyle swimming speed test with a digital stopwatch. The results showed that the group training with handpaddles experienced a more significant increase in speed than the group without handpaddles. These findings indicate that handpaddles are effective as a training medium for increasing arm muscle strength, technique efficiency, and maintaining sprint speed until the final phase of the race. This study confirms the novelty of the 50-meter sprint distance focus and the benefits of handpaddles in maintaining performance in the critical phase of the race.
