Abstract

The empowerment of micro and small-sized enterprises (MSEs’) is essential to promoting an inclusive and sustainable economy. One approach is to develop an unique selling proposition for MSEs' products. The aim of the community services, (1) providing counselling related to the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) for MSEs; (2) providing counselling on the use of digital technology; and (3) providing consultation and facilitation related to halal certification, business legality, and businesses digitalization. The trend of halal certification registration in Balikpapan from 2019-2024 showed good growth, although it was not as important as the number of food and beverages MSEs in Balikpapan City. In this sense, the Universitas Airlangga team chose MSE actors from six sub-districts in Balikpapan City as the focus of this activities. The evaluation approach was carried out using outputs. In addition to documenting internal and external community services, the empowerment of business actors was measured. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to determine the results. It is reasonable to assume that the counselling was effective. This activity is designed to empower MSEs’ and serve as a model for speeding halal certification while also establishing an inclusive and sustainable community-based economy (SDGs 8, 11, and 17).

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) is a prevalent and complex condition that significantly burdens healthcare systems, requiring intensive care and leading to high treatment costs. OBJECTIVES: This study aims to identify factors influencing cost discrepancies in hospitalized ADHF patients. METHODS: This retrospective study was conducted at Universitas Brawijaya Hospital from July to August 2024. Data were collected from 86 ADHF patients who were hospitalized between January 2021 and December 2023. Information regarding the patients' clinical conditions, comorbidities, and medical procedures was extracted from their case histories. Statistical analyses included t-tests and Mann-Whitney tests. RESULTS: In this study of 86 individuals with ADHF, 58.1% were over 65 years old, 31.4% were between 45 and 64 years old, and 10.5% were between 18 and 44 years old. By classification of care, 58.1% were admitted for Class 1 care, 30.2% for Class 2, and 11.6% for Class 3. Our findings indicated that the costs of treatment for patients with moderate and severe diseases were higher as compared to those of mild severity. Patients who had a length of stay over 7 days had higher costs than the ones whose length of stay was 1 to 3 days. Furthermore, Class 2 care was associated with higher costs than Class 3 care. The analysis also revealed that an increase in the number of comorbidities and medical procedures corresponded with higher treatment costs. CONCLUSION: This study identified factors that increase the cost of treatment for patients with ADHF.

Abstract

The Tuberculosis Information System (SITB) is a strategic platform for optimizing TB logistics management in primary health facilities, but its use is still not optimal. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of SITB usage and its impact on the availability of TB logistics in community health centers in Jember Regency. This study used a cross-sectional design involving 30 community health centers from July to December 2024. Variables examined included technology, management, and organizational components affecting SITB system impact. The effectiveness of SITB was evaluated using the HOT (Human-Organization-Technology) - Fit model, the relationship between components is analyzed using the Spearman rank test. The results show, despite SITB implementation since 2020, logistics availability remained inequitable is still empthy beyond the standard in primary healthcare (> 4%), but Non- antituberculosis logistic have overstocked with an average availability of more than 5 months in quarterly periode (> 150%). Correlation analysis revealed that information quality and user satisfaction significantly influenced system impact (p < 0,05). In conclusion, SITB implementation has not ensured equitable TB logistics availability across community health centers in Jember Regency, where in the used of SITB, information quality and user satisfaction are key factors influencing system impact.

Abstract

Drug abuse among the younger generation is increasing over time and greatly affects the future life of the nation and the state. Factors that influence drug abuse include personality, family, economic conditions, environment, and social interactions, which at first often arise due to a lack of knowledge about the dangers of drugs. The effects of drug abuse include physical, psychological, social, and security impacts. Because misunderstanding or low levels of knowledge is one of the factors in drug abuse, counseling/health education is important to be carried out for the younger generation in Bojonegoro Regency, as one of the areas prone to drug abuse among high school students. Counseling was provided to 238 students of grades 10 and 11 at SMK Negeri Dender,Bojonegoro Regency. The success of the counseling was evaluated using pre-and post-tests. The evaluation results were statistically tested to determine differences before and after counseling in students’knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to drug abuse. The analysis showed p-values for knowledge=0.000,for attitude=0.044,and for behavior=0.000. All values were<0.05,which means that there were significant differences in knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors before and after the counseling. In conclusion, the counseling improved students’knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding the dangers of drugs and their abuse.

Abstract

Talango District in Sumenep Regency faces a significant public health challenge, recording the highest leprosy prevalence in the region with 17 active cases in 2024. This issue is deeply rooted in patient non-adherence to long-term medication and the limited clinical capacity of newly appointed village health volunteers. To address this gap, this community service initiative empowered local volunteers through an intensive training program centered on the "Active Patient Method" and "Social Support" framework. The intervention utilized interactive educational sessions and clinical discussions led by a multidisciplinary team of dermatologists, public health experts, and clinical pharmacists. We evaluated the program’s impact by measuring changes in participant knowledge using a validated pre-test and post-test instrument. Statistical analysis via the Wilcoxon signed-ranks test yielded a p-value of 0.000, demonstrating a substantial and significant increase in the volunteers' understanding of leprosy management. Furthermore, the program received high appreciation from the community, with 79% of participants commending the material quality and the experts' delivery. These findings suggest that fostering social support through volunteer empowerment effectively bridges the gap in leprosy care and medication management. This initiative provides a sustainable model for community-based health interventions in remote island areas, ultimately aiming to break the chain of leprosy transmission through compassionate and informed local leadership.

Abstract

Introduction: Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) cases in East Jawa increased sharply by 73.3% in 2022, with Surabaya among the highest contributors. Nearly half of TB patients have comorbidities, which complicate therapy and may reduce medication adherence. Non-adherence to anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT) can decrease treatment success and quality of life (QoL). This study aims to analyze the effect between OAT adherence and QoL in pulmonary TB patients with and without comorbidities. Methods: This cross-sectional analytic study was conducted at Pegirian Surabaya Health Center and Husada Prima Surabaya Hospital from September to December 2024. Seventy-two respondents were recruited and evenly divided into two groups, with thirty-six patients in each group. Adherence was measure using 5-Tepat Questionnaire and QoL was assessed using AqoL-4D instrument. Data were analyzed with Chi-Square and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: Among TB patients without comorbidities, 75% were adherent to OAT, compared to 61.1% in the group with comorbidities. There was no statistically significant difference in adherence rates between groups (p = 0.206). However, patients without comorbidities who were adherent had a significantly higher median quality of life score of 92.00 (p = 0.001), while adherent patients with comorbidities had a median score of 78.00 (p = 0.000).Conclusion: Adherence OAT treatment significantly improves the quality of life of pulmonary TB patients, particularly among those with comorbidities. These findings underscore the importance of interventions to enhance adherence as part of comprehensive TB management strategies.
