Abstract

Papua Nature Exploration (PNE) is an extracurricular Scout activity at Muhammadiyah Teminabuan Elementary School, South Sorong. This activity aims to shape students' character of responsibility and love for nature. This study aims to examine the implementation, supporting and inhibiting factors, and how to deal with obstacles in PNE activities. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data triangulation was applied to ensure validity by cross-checking information obtained from different sources. The results showed that Papua Nature Exploration (PNE) is a structured scouting extracurricular activity that fosters responsibility and love for nature through team formation, environmental education, outdoor survival training, exploration, conservation efforts, and interactive games. PNE activities were effective in building character of responsibility and love for nature in grades V and VI students. This is reflected in the attitude of caring, focusing, and protecting the environment during the activity. Supporting factors for the success of PNE include the involvement of Scout Leaders, Muhammadiyah Middle School students, PDM Sorong Selatan, and student enthusiasm. Obstacles found include the distance of the activity location which is far from the school and unpredictable weather. This study recommends the development of interesting activities to instill positive character in students. In addition, it is recommended to further develop PNE activities using experimental methods to test their effectiveness on a larger scale.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effect of the guided inquiry learning model on the understanding of science concepts among seventh-grade students regarding motion and force material according to the Merdeka Curriculum. The research used a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 56 seventh-grade students from SMPN 2 Narmada, selected using cluster random sampling technique, with class VII A serving as the control group and VII B as the experimental group. The research results show that the average post-test score of the experimental class (70.54) is higher than that of the control class (51.43), and there is a significant difference based on the independent t-test (p < 0.05) using the IBM SPSS 23 application. The improvement in students' conceptual understanding is indicated by an N-Gain value of 0.5078, which falls into the moderate category. This confirms that the guided inquiry learning model has a positive effect on students' understanding of science concepts

Abstract

This community service aimed to enhance traditional health literacy and the economic value of family medicinal plants through simplisia production. Using the Society Participatory method, 15 Aisyiyah women in Kucur Village, Malang, were trained in: (1) regulations of empirical traditional health services, (2) appropriate technology for simplisia processing, and (3) hands-on mentoring. Results showed a 59% increase in knowledge and 72% improvement in practical skills. The whole-form simplisia produced met BPOM standards and could be used for self-medication or sold as raw material without distribution permits. Participants were also trained in simple powdering methods (e.g., blending) to enhance product utility. The activity demonstrated the efficacy of community-based participatory approaches in integrating health autonomy and local economic development. Equipment limitations highlighted the need for grinders to optimize production. Future recommendations include establishing micro-enterprise groups, regulatory training for commercial herbal products, and program replication in similar rural settings. This initiative serves as a model for sustainable, locally-driven health and economic empowerment.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of digital-based character education as a strategy to reduce cyberbullying at Muhammadiyah Limbung Senior High School in Indonesia. The research employed a qualitative case-study design. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with teachers and students as the research subjects. The findings indicate that digital-based character education was designed through a strategic planning process that involved selecting core character values, using relevant digital media, and adopting participatory learning approaches. Implementation was carried out by integrating character values into digital learning activities, such as anti-cyberbullying campaigns, digital ethics reflections, and student engagement with educational content on social media platforms. Supporting factors for the program’s success included the availability of digital infrastructure, teacher competence, supportive school policies, and parental participation. Conversely, inhibiting factors comprised students’ low digital ethics literacy, limited access to technology at home, insufficient teacher training, and minimal parental involvement. The study concludes that digital-based character education effectively fosters students’ ethical awareness and behavior in the online environment and significantly reduces incidents of cyberbullying within the madrasah. Keywords: character education, cyberbullying, digital ethics, digitalization of education

Abstract

Environmental anxiety has increasingly been recognized as a significant psychological response to the global ecological crisis, particularly among adolescents within formal educational settings where climate change discourse is integrated into learning processes. As schools function as primary spaces for cognitive, emotional, and moral development, understanding how educational contexts shape students’ ecological concerns become essential. This study examines the impact of educational background on students’ environmental anxiety by comparing Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and non-Islamic schools in South Tapanuli Regency. Employing a quantitative comparative design, data were collected from 60 students (30 pesantren and 30 non-pesantren) using an adapted Environmental Anxiety Scale. The analysis covered five dimensions: fear of ecological disasters, future anxiety, ecological guilt, ecological paralysis, and denial. Findings indicate that non-pesantren students reported significantly higher anxiety levels across all dimensions (p < 0.05), while also demonstrating stronger pro-environmental behavior (p < 0.01). In contrast, pesantren students exhibited lower anxiety levels, potentially reflecting the internalization of religious values and communal support as adaptive coping mechanisms. These findings suggest that educational background significantly influences adolescents’ emotional and behavioral responses to environmental challenges. The study contributes to policy discourse by emphasizing the integration of ecological literacy with spiritual and ethical reflection to foster ecological resilience and responsible behavior among young learners.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that cause teachers to be reluctant to accept the position of principal. Methodology: The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design involving six teachers at an elementary school in Musi Rawas. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis. Analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model, encompassing data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources. Main Findings: The results of the study show that internal factors such as low self-confidence, time constraints, and lack of managerial experience, as well as external factors such as administrative burden, low institutional support, and an organizational culture that is not yet conducive, are the main obstacles for teachers in accepting the position of principal. Teachers also revealed that lack of role models and unclear career progression pathways became psychological barriers that affected their leadership interest. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study contributes original insights by uncovering teacher decision-making patterns in declining principal positions within rural elementary schools. It also proposes strategic, context-specific interventions to enhance teachers’ leadership readiness and support their transition into school management roles.
