Abstract

Introduction: Infant immunization is crucial in reducing mortality and morbidity, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to promote health and well-being. In Indonesia, routine immunization for infants aged 0-12 months includes essential vaccines and newer antigens like PCV and Rotavirus. Maternal beliefs significantly influence immunization completion. This study examines factors affecting mothers' decisions regarding complete immunization in the Banyu Urip Health Center area using the Health Belief Model. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 86 mothers with infants aged 12-24 months to assess immunization completeness during their first year. The study analyzed the relationship between maternal perceptions, such as susceptibility, severity, benefits, barriers, self-efficacy, and cues to action and immunization behavior. Results: Findings showed a moderate relationship between perceived susceptibility, severity, barriers, and cues to action with immunization behavior. A strong correlation was observed between perceived benefits, self-efficacy, and participation in complete immunization. Mothers with higher risk perception, awareness of severity, strong belief in benefits, and self-efficacy, along with strong cues to action and fewer barriers, were more likely to ensure full immunization for their infants. Conclusion: The study highlights the importance of strengthening awareness and reducing barriers to improve immunization rates. Enhancing maternal self-efficacy and addressing perceived obstacles can increase full immunization coverage, ensuring better health outcomes for infants.

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescent health education is essential for promoting long-term well-being, yet many students lack access to effective and engaging learning approaches. This study evaluates the impact of structured teacher training combined with edutainment-based interventions on improving adolescent health knowledge and behavioral intentions using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in Malang Regency, Indonesia. Methods: A quantitative pre-experimental design was used with a pre-test–intervention–post-test structure. The study involved 22 teachers from five schools and 56 junior high school students from SMPN 1 Kepanjen, Malang. The intervention included comprehensive teacher training and interactive edutainment sessions for students, covering topics such as adolescent characteristics, physical activity, assertive communication, and time management. Knowledge changes were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: The intervention significantly increased knowledge in both groups. Students' average scores improved from 73.2 (pre-test) to 84.4 (post-test) (p < 0.001), while teachers’ scores increased from 69 to 83.4 (p < 0.001). However, no significant changes were observed in students' subjective norms, behavioral control, or behavioral intentions. Conclusion: Combining structured teacher training with edutainment is an effective strategy for enhancing adolescent health knowledge. This approach provides a scalable model for improving health literacy, though further efforts are needed to influence behavioral intentions and self-efficacy.

Abstract

Nearly 30% of Indonesian population is adolescent. Indonesia has various programs to improve the health status of adolescents from various sectors. However, the program intended for adolescent reproductive health has not been fully utilized, with one of the reasons being improper management by primary healthcare on cross-sector cooperation causing a knowledge gap among adolescents about the program. Purpose: This study aims to identify the perception of stakeholders from various sectors on adolescent health program in Surabaya, East Java. Methods: This study used a qualitative descriptive approach through interviews and FGDs to relevant stakeholders. Research subjects came from elements of government (health, education, religion, family planning, and social), NGOs, media (radio, newspaper media), teachers (representatives of 10 high schools in Surabaya), parents (Family Health Empowerment group). Data were analyzed by thematic analysis. Results: Every governmental office has a program for adolescents, but most are only providing information. Therefore, NGOs complete programs have not been implemented by the government such as a peer educator program for high-risk community. The media also has youth programs that are tailored to the needs or trends. Teachers and parents as having the closest control with adolescents, also play a role in providing information and accompanying adolescents. The various roles of the various stakeholder groups require synergy efforts to avoid overlapping. Conclusion: Adolescents in Surabaya are considered unhealthy and engage in risky behaviors by relevant stakeholders. Various programs have been implemented to support adolescent health. However, different perspectives on implementing adolescent health programs can cause conflict between stakeholders or confusion among adolescents. The diversity of stakeholders involved in adolescent health programs also needs to be encouraged.

Abstract

There are many aspects that need to be considered for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the culinary sector, one of which is taking care of halal certification. The certificate issued by the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) is important for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) actors. Moreover, the majority of the population in Indonesia embraces Islam and requires halal guarantees for the culinary products consumed. Halal certification has the benefit of increasing consumer confidence, increasing market share, and increasing business competitiveness. By having a halal certificate, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) products will be more accepted in the market, especially among Muslim consumers who need halal products to be safer when consumed. The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has reopened the Free Halal Certification (SEHATI) program with a quota of 1 Million Certificates and every Micro, Small and Medium Business actor can register in early January 2025 and the phasing of halal certification obligations will end on October 17, 2026. The participants of this community service are women food and beverage business actors in the city of Gunung Anyar sub-district, Surabaya City. These women who have a food and beverage business do not know how to register halal certification for their Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Abstract

Introduction: HIV-positive patients require adherence to Antiretroviral therapy (ART) to control their disease. However, in Ternate City, ARV adherence remains low due to side effect fears, stigma, depression, and limited health service access. Therefore, this study analyzes the correlation between self-efficacy, action planning, and coping planning with ARV adherence in HIV-positive patients in Ternate City, North Maluku. Method: An observational, cross-sectional study used stratified random sampling of HIV-positive patients at five service centers, with data analyzed using the Spearman test. Results: Most respondents were aged 19-49 (94.9%), male (69.1%), held a high school education (57.3%), were self-employed (24.2%), and earned under 1 million rupiah per month (33.1%). Furthermore, self-efficacy (p=0.000; r=0.404), action planning (p=0.000; r=0.399), and coping planning (p=0.000; r=0.265) were significantly associated with ARV adherence. Conclusion: These findings suggest that self-efficacy, action planning, and coping planning benefit ARV adherence in HIV-positive patients.
