Abstract

This study analyzes how online news media frame and set the agenda on the issue of house of worship rejection in Bekasi. The research aims to understand how media construct meanings and shape public perception of religious tolerance in a multicultural society. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis, data were obtained from online articles of Detik.com, Liputan6.com, Tirto.id, and GerakanPIS.id. The findings reveal that national media emphasize administrative clarification and reconciliation, while alternative media highlight constitutional rights and social justice. Through the combination of framing and agenda-setting analysis, this study concludes that media play a dual role as a manager of public issues and a moral agent in shaping narratives of tolerance. The results contribute to the development of peace journalism in reporting religious conflicts in contemporary Indonesia.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing interest of modern young people in religious practices through digital spaces, particularly in the context of changing patterns of religious interaction from physical spaces to social media-based platforms. The purpose of this research is to analyze how the concept of cyber religion applied in the Shift Community triggers a transformation of religious practices from traditional hierarchical models to digital religiosity that is aesthetic, participatory, and adaptive to media culture. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive analysis techniques through case studies, observations of digital content, and a literature review on the mediatization of religion and the Uses and Gratifications theory. The results of the study indicate that da'wah has shifted from a one-way lecture model to an emotional visual narrative that is creatively packaged and easily accepted by the younger generation, accompanied by active participation of digital congregations through collaborative content reproduction and distribution. The findings also indicate a shift in religious authority from a central figure to the distribution of meaning through community interactions, as well as the formation of religious identities based on personal branding and spiritual practices influenced by social media algorithms. The implications of the study emphasize that digitalization can expand the reach of da'wah and create new spiritual experiences, but strengthening digital literacy and da'wah ethics is still necessary to avoid the commercialization of religion and the reduction of the meaning of spirituality.

Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji peran media sosial, khususnya Instagram, sebagai agen sosialisasi nilai keislaman dalam praktik berpakaian muslimah di Indonesia. Berangkat dari fenomena berkembangnya tren busana muslim dan hijab di ruang digital, penelitian ini menempatkan Instagram sebagai arena representasi, negosiasi identitas, sekaligus komodifikasi simbol religius. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif melalui studi kasus terhadap akun-akun hijaber populer dan komunitas hijabers, artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa praktik berpakaian Islami di Instagram tidak hanya mencerminkan kepatuhan terhadap syariat, tetapi juga dipengaruhi oleh logika estetika digital, budaya populer, dan industri fesyen. Hasil kajian menunjukkan adanya pergeseran makna busana muslim dari simbol kesalehan menuju identitas religius-modern yang bersifat cair dan performatif. Meskipun Instagram berfungsi efektif sebagai medium dakwah kultural dan edukasi nilai keislaman, platform ini juga berpotensi mendorong perilaku konsumtif dan reduksi makna spiritual. Artikel ini berargumen bahwa praktik berpakaian Islami di media sosial merupakan hasil negosiasi berkelanjutan antara nilai agama, identitas sosial, dan dinamika kapitalisme digital.

Abstract

Masa remaja merupakan fase transisi yang rentan terhadap kecemasan, stres, dan tekanan psikologis akibat penggunaan media sosial di era digital. Fenomena perbandingan sosial, cyberbullying, dan ekspektasi yang tidak realistis berkontribusi pada penurunan ketahanan mental remaja, termasuk di Desa Gantar. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis peran agama Islam, khususnya psikologi agama Islam dan pendidikan agama Islam kontekstual, dalam membangun ketahanan mental remaja menghadapi kecemasan dan tekanan media sosial. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan studi kepustakaan yang dipadukan dengan analisis media digital melalui telaah literatur ilmiah dan fenomena penggunaan media sosial di kalangan remaja. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai spiritual seperti sabar, tawakal, syukur, ikhlas, serta praktik ibadah seperti shalat, dzikir, dan muhasabah berfungsi sebagai mekanisme koping yang menenangkan sekaligus memperkuat daya tahan psikologis remaja. Integrasi penguatan spiritual, literasi digital, dukungan keluarga, dan peran kelembagaan keagamaan menjadi strategi penting.

Abstract

In this modern era, da'wah is often exploited for material gain. Da'wah activities should be used to disseminate Islamic values ​​to its adherents, as the saying "Ballighu 'aani Walau ayat" (convey even one verse). This is different from the religious command, this study aims to analyze the phenomenon of commodification and mediatization of religion in the television da'wah programs Wisata Hati and Islam Itu Indah (Islam Itu Indah). Using qualitative methods through literature study and digital observation, this study utilizes Vincent Mosco's Commodification theory and Stig Hjarvard and Stewart Hoover's Mediatization of Religion theory to understand the dynamics of da'wah message production in the media. The results of the study indicate that both programs underwent a commodification process that included the commodification of content, the commodification of audiences, and the commodification of preaching figures, where spiritual values ​​were processed according to market and broadcasting industry demands. Furthermore, mediatization was seen through message visualization, content segmentation, personalization of ustadz figures, and the integration of entertainment elements that formed a new, more emotive and popular religiosity. The important findings of this study formulated the concept of Hybrid Da'wah, namely a da'wah model born from the negotiation between the sacredness of teachings and the rationality of the media industry. This concept shows the paradox between expanding access to da'wah and the potential for simplifying spiritual meaning. This research contributes to the study of religious communication in the context of modern media culture in Indonesia.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of spiritual crises among university students, coupled with the limited accessibility of Islamic counseling services, calls for innovative technological solutions. This study explores the development of an Islamic counseling chatbot utilizing Natural Language Processing (NLP) for early detection of spiritual crises in Muslim students. It analysing the conceptual framework, technical requirements, and implementation strategies for developing an NLP-based Islamic counseling chatbot system for early spiritual crisis detection. This qualitative research employs a systematic literature review approach, analysing 127 relevant publications from 2018 to 2024 sourced from Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, and Islamic databases. Thematic analysis was conducted using NVivo 12 to identify key themes and patterns. Five core themes emerged: (1) Technological architecture integrating Islamic principles with NLP algorithms, (2) Specific indicators of spiritual crisis among Muslim students, (3) Culturally sensitive conversational patterns, (4) Ethical considerations in AI-assisted Islamic counseling, and (5) Implementation challenges and solutions. The proposed chatbot framework incorporates Qur’anic verses, hadith references, and Islamic psychology concepts into machine learning algorithms. The NLP-based Islamic counseling chatbot demonstrates significant potential for early detection and intervention in spiritual crises among university students. However, successful implementation requires careful consideration of Islamic ethics, cultural sensitivity, and technical resilience.

Abstract

The significant growth in the number of elderly Hajj pilgrims in Indonesia has prompted the need for inclusive policies that focus not only on technical aspects but also on the formation of fair and humane public perceptions of this vulnerable group. This study aims to describe the construction of the Elderly-Friendly Hajj program in the media of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs in 2023–2024, identify key messages, and analyze the context of media use in program socialization. The study uses a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative case study approach, through documentation of the official social media of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, in-depth interviews with officials and communication practitioners, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results show that the media constructs the elderly as active subjects with spiritual capacity and an important role in worship, emphasizing humanistic, inclusive, and humanitarian-value-based Hajj services. Media messages are effective, encouraging active participation, highlighting special facilities, physical and mental readiness, mentoring, health education, elderly-friendly worship, and the digitalisation of services. The use of media is participatory and empathetic, becoming a space for education, advocacy, and the formation of public opinion based on multi-platform technology. This study presents a social media construction-based policy communication model that integrates message values, digital technology, and inclusive public policy.
