Abstract

Graphic design and publication are important competencies students need in the digital era, especially for creating promotional media and self-branding. SMAN 2 Meulaboh has adequate facilities to support this, but they have not been optimized. The lack of competent teaching staff in graphic design and publication is a major obstacle. As an effort to overcome this problem, we from the Communication Science Study Program at Teuku Umar University provided graphic design and publication services, including banner design, using Adobe Photoshop. Socialization, demonstration, discussion, testing, competition, and appreciation were employed as methods in this program, following the Planning, Implementing, and Evaluating (PIE) stages, involving 15 students from class XI at SMAN 2 Meulaboh. The pre-test results showed that only 17% (3 out of 15) of students knew about graphic design and publication. However, after the service was carried out, the team rechecked the post-test, and the results showed that 87% (13 out of 15) students knew about graphics and publication and could even apply their knowledge directly. This shows that the community service carried out increased students' knowledge, skills, art, and interest in graphic design and publication, especially in the use of Adobe Photoshop for creating banners. Furthermore, it is hoped that this service can be carried out continuously and periodically to achieve maximum results.

Abstract

This article opens an academic discourse on tolerance campaign strategies as a new form of conflict resolution in Aceh. LABPSA is an institution that accommodates young people to campaign for tolerance, inclusiveness, gender equality, and other social issues. All participants who join LABPSA carry out various tolerance campaign strategies. These strategies focus on how young people optimize social media to campaign for issues of tolerance. The data collection process is carried out by studies based on virtual ethnographic methods and online documentation. This step was carried out by looking at the landscape of religious conflicts that occurred in Indonesia, especially in Aceh province. What is the role of the Aceh government in carrying out conflict resolution to resolve religious conflicts in Aceh? What form of active participation did young people take when voicing the issue of tolerance through LABPSA? The results of this study are that the presence of young people under the LABPSA institution is a new way to voice acts of tolerance and resolve religious conflicts in Aceh. The various activities carried out are a form of dissatisfaction with the Aceh government's response to the issue of intolerance. On the other hand, the presence of young people in LABPSA is also part of helping the Aceh government resolve conflicts in Aceh, especially religious conflicts, and eradicating issues of intolerance.

Abstract

This study examines the essence of patience (sabr) from the perspective of Imam Al-Ghazali through an ethical-spiritual analysis in Ihya’ Ulum al-Din. The background of this research is based on the increasing moral crisis, psychological pressures, and weakening self-control in modern life, making the concept of patience highly relevant to be reexamined as a foundation for the development of human morality and spirituality. This study aims to analyze the nature of patience according to Al-Ghazali, its various forms, and its relevance to modern life. The research employs a qualitative approach using the library research method. Primary data are derived from Ihya’ Ulum al-Din, while secondary data are obtained from various books, journals, and relevant scholarly works. Data analysis is conducted through content analysis and descriptive-qualitative methods. The findings reveal that patience, according to Al-Ghazali, is not merely a passive attitude in accepting trials, but rather an active ethical-spiritual force in controlling desires, maintaining obedience to God, and facing hardships with steadfast faith. Al-Ghazali classifies patience into several forms: patience in obedience, patience in avoiding sins, patience in facing calamities, and patience in dealing with worldly pleasures. The concept of patience is also closely related to tazkiyat al-nafs (purification of the soul), moral formation, and the spiritual journey toward closeness to Allah. In the modern context, Al-Ghazali’s concept of patience remains relevant as an ethical and spiritual solution to moral crises, psychological pressures, instant culture, and social conflicts in contemporary society. Therefore, patience in Al-Ghazali’s perspective serves as an essential foundation for character building, mental resilience, and spiritual balance in human life

Abstract

Body shaming on social media is an increasingly prevalent phenomenon alongside high social media penetration in Indonesia, yet understanding of how victims manage their communication privacy following traumatic experiences remains limited. This study explores interpersonal communication privacy management strategies of body shaming victims using the Communication Privacy Management (CPM) Theory framework. Through a qualitative descriptive approach involving five university students who experienced body shaming across various social media platforms, this research reveals a self-esteem paradox phenomenon in digital privacy management contexts. The findings demonstrate three main discoveries. First, self-esteem levels significantly determine privacy management strategies developed by victims. High self-esteem does not automatically produce adaptive strategies, but is mediated by privacy turbulence severity, social support, and self-awareness. Informants with high self-esteem may exhibit maladaptive strategies such as extreme isolation, while those with low self-esteem can develop more adaptive strategies through self-acceptance. Second, coping mechanisms developed by victims are essentially manifestations of CPM strategies, showing that in digital trauma contexts, both are two sides of the same coin. Third, cultural contexts with strong Islamic values and customary traditions shape how victims develop privacy rules and boundary regulation.
