Abstract

The high yield of coconut in Indonesia is positively related to the production of coconut shell waste which is difficult to decompose by microorganisme. Therefore, in recent years a method of utilizing coconut shell waste for charcoal and liquid smoke has been developed. So far, the process of making liquid smoke from coconut fiber (coconut coir liquid smoke) is usually carried out for 3-5 days and the amount of liquid smoke is very small. The use of liquid smoke is also adapted to clarify the qualities of liquid smoke, is used as a wood preservative and thickener, as an antimicrobial agent, and as a natural food preservative. In addition, e-liquid can also be used as a natural preservative for food, meat, and fish, it is also very suitable to be used as a natural substitute for formalin or borax for insect repellent, and a wood preservative which has received wide attention in recent years. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to design a device that produces liquid smoke from burning coconut shells from the distillation process, which can increase the amount of liquid smoke produced.

Abstract

Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer, commonly known as GFRP, is that as a train interior component, it must have good mechanical properties. The addition of flame retardant compounds contained in GFRP materials can affect the tensile strength of GFRP materials. In this study, GFRP composed of Alumina Trihydrate (ATH) and Melamine Cyanurate (MCA) powder was mixed into a vinyl ester resin. The method of making GFRP specimens uses the hand lay-up method. GFRP was mixed and tested for material with ASTM D-638 standard tensile test. The results obtained after the addition of 25% ATH, a mixture of 5%, 10%, and 15% MCA at 25% ATH, 25% ATH in the outermost layer, and a mixture of 5% MCA with 25% ATH in the outermost layer to the weight of the resin was a decrease in strength when the percentage of filler powder increases. Tensile strength, strain, and modulus of elasticity of GFRP were optimum at the addition of 25% ATH with 5% MCA to the weight of the resin in the outer layer. The result of tensile strength is 124.37 MPa, strain is 12.76%, and modulus of elasticity is 975.85 MPa. The results show that a mixture of ATH and MCA has a synergistic effect, so that it becomes a recommendation for interior sidewall panels and ceiling panels on trains.

Abstract

PT. Zenith Allmart Precisindo is one of the manufacturing companies engaged in foundry investment casting. Its superior product is pump casing V(S) 2/4/6 B which has a production target of 500pcs/month every month. The milling process for the V(S)2/4/6 B pump casing product has the disadvantage that it requires more CNC milling machines to process each part of the process. PT. Zenith Allmart Precisindo has a horizontal 4 axis double pallet CNC milling machine. This machine uses a fixture and clamp as a stopper to aid in bulk processing of casting products. In order to help the finishing process of the production of the V(S) 2/4/6 B pump casing quickly, tools such as jigs and fixtures were made, so as to speed up the process of working on V(S) 2/4/6 B products and reduce machine usage. CNC for every part of the process. Design of jig and fixture V(S) 2/4/6 B using Autodesk Fusion 360 software. The method used is the Ulrich method as a method of selecting a design concept by making 3 different concept designs. This V(S) 2/4/6 B jig and fixture produces 2 V(S) 2/4/6 B products in one milling process with 47 minutes to produce 2 products at once.

Abstract

Geopolymers are solid inorganic polymers produced from a chemical reaction called geopolymerization between an alkaline solution and an aluminosilicate source. Aluminosilicate materials are composed of silica and alumina atoms. To activate the polymerization reaction between silica (Si) and alumina (Al) an activator solution is needed. Many studies have used geopolymers because they are known for their fire retardant properties. With the added ingredients of Sodium Borax Tetra Hydrate and Diammonium Phosphate, these two added ingredients have the potential to be fire retardants. To determine the effect of the addition of geopolymer additives, pressure testing was carried out on the specimens before and after being burned at 900 oC for 1 hour. In this study, using raw materials metakaolin and silica fume of 80:20 (%) and a constant KOH pellet and water glass activator solution. As well as varying the additives, namely 1% Sodium Borax Tetra Hydrate, 1% Diammonium Phosphate and specimens without additives. The results of the compression test showed that the composition that had the best compressive strength before combustion was the addition of 1% Diammonium Phosphate, which was 24.4 MPa. While the specimens after burning which have the highest compressive strength value are the specimens without additives, namely 9.5 MPa.

Abstract

There is a shortage of materials at PT. Ometraco Arya Samanta which caused the completion of project workthe gudang tembakau, the gudang penyetelan A & B project was delayed which affected project production. Running out of materials, messy production lines or man hours due to urgent projects and late material purchase schedules can be detrimental for PT. Ometraco Arya Samanta and the ordering party. This study aims to control material needs. The method used is the material requirement planning (MRP) method, namely by making a bill of materials to find out information about all the needs for components and the type of material used by making and completing a job to the end. And the MRP table for material requirements is obtained WF 300 35 spike, WF 500 19 spike, WF 250 29 spike, WF 600 22 spike, WF 250 21 spike, WF 200 10 spike, WF 150 24 spike, L 30 2 spike, L 40 345 spike, L 50 110 spike, L 60 478 spike. CT 200 148 spike, CNP 125 1.526 spike and CNP 100 98 spike. Meanwhile, the manhours requirement for the adjustment gudang penyetelan A & B is 2464,8 JO and gudang tembakau is 2004 JO. Then the number has a total of 4468,8 JO.

Abstract

The development of the beverage industry is increasing, in the handling and management of canned waste there is still a manual process, by stepping on or hitting cans with tools so that the volume of cans shrinks. Therefore, an idea and innovation is needed to design and make a machine as a tool for pressing cans in the form of a small-scale can pressing machine. The process of making the machine uses the Ulrich method. Identification of machine needs to concept selection and design embodiment. Based on the results of the design with the Ulrich method, design concept 2 was selected. Has a relative value for rate of 28% and for weight score of 31%.

Abstract

PT Titian Kencana Samudera Jaya is one of the companies engaged in Engineering, Fabrication and Construction. The hand stacker itself can be used to lift, lower, and move materials from one place to another. This type of lifting mechanism on the hand stacker uses a pulley system. Hand stacker with a size that fits the dimensions of the company makes it easier to move materials and several machines to be worked on. In this design, product development uses the Ulrich method. The concept selection in this design uses a pulley system as a lifting system where compared to the hydraulic system, the pulley system has a longer displacement distance because the pulley system uses a 6 x 19 IWRC steel rope and lifts goods faster because it uses a motor drive. The results of this research found that this tool saves more time to lift and use a motor that greatly facilitates workers and avoids excessive fatigue. This tool is made from UNP canal, and hollow which has dimensions of 1100mm long x 600 mm wide x 1750 mm high. The cost of designing this tool is Rp. 6,197,400, -

Abstract

PT Lintech Duta Pratama is one of the manufacturing companies where in the process there is a finishing and painting manufacturing process. Painting is done with the aim of inhibiting the rate of corrosion and improving product appearance. Improper painting process results in defects. Products that have defects require repair so that they can then be sent to customers. Repeated repair processes cause delays in product delivery. To get products with good quality, research is needed to get the optimal combination of process parameters in the painting process. The process parameters studied are surface roughness, substrate temperature, and abrasive material type. The experimental design uses the taguchi method in the form of an orthogonal matrix L_9(3^4) with three replications. From the experimental results, the optimal combination of process parameters on adhesion and process cost simultaneously on paint adhesion was obtained, namely surface roughness at level 1 with a value of 50, substrate temperature at level 2 with a value of 34°C, and abrasive material type at level 1 with garnet abrasive. The surface roughness parameter gives a percentage contribution of 14.56%, substrate temperature 0.48%, and abrasive material type 84.28%.

Abstract

Industrial competition in the era of globalization causes every company engaged in manufacturing to continue to develop quality to meet customer satisfaction. PT RPC Indonesia is one of the manufacturing companies engaged in the production of fiberglass, especially in piping components. PT. RPC Indonesia implements a make to order and flowshop production system which has a function to increase production capability and production services by focusing on machine utility and accuracy of production completion to match the set time through scheduling methods.Campbell Dudek Smith (CDS) and Nawaz Enscore Han (NEH) methods are the proposed methods in this research. These two methods will be compared with the company's existing method to determine the best and optimal scheduling method by finding the minimum makespan value. The results of this study show that both methods can be used by companies as alternative scheduling models in minimizing total production time. Scheduling with the CDS method produces a makespan of 3834.15 hours and is 1069.34 hours faster than the existing method. Likewise, the NEH method produces a makespan of 3820.63 hours and is 1082.86 hours faster than the existing method. Based on these criteria, the most recommended method for the company is theNawaz Enscore Ham (NEH) method.

Abstract

Perancangan mesin pemotong kentang dimulai dengan menentukan atribut kebutuhan pengguna yang akan diwujudkan menjadi mesin pemotong kentang. Tahap awal dilakukan dengan membagikan kuesioner kepada 30 responden pedagang UMKM yang menggunakan alat dalam proses produksi kentang stick dan spiral. Jawaban dari 30 responden akan diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Uji validitas dimaksudkan untuk memastikan bahwa kuesioner relevan dengan tujuan penelitian, sedangkan uji reliabilitas adalah untuk memastikan bahwa hasil kuesioner konsisten dan reliabel. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan uji validitas dan reliabilitas untuk mengetahui validitas dan reliabilitas atribut yang telah ditentukan dalam kuesioner kebutuhan pengguna. Hasil uji validitas pada atribut yang ditentukan menunjukkan bahwa 11 dari 12 atribut produk valid. Hasil uji reliabilitas dari 11 atribut valid dinyatakan reliabel dengan nilai Alpha Cronbach sebesar 0,842.
