Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership of school principals in managing education at SDN 007 Pulau Lawas. School leadership plays a strategic role in determining the success of educational management, particularly in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating school programs. This study employed a qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that the principal has implemented leadership functions in school management; however, several aspects still require improvement, particularly teacher involvement in planning, sustainable academic supervision, and the utilization of evaluation results for decision-making. Strengthening participatory and effective leadership is expected to enhance the quality of educational management in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low reading skills of students in learning Indonesian language in grade V of SDN 043 Batu Gajah. One solution to overcome this problem is to use the Jigsaw Learning Model. The purpose of this study was to improve students' reading skills in learning Indonesian language material on pantun. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of two meetings and four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research was conducted in May-June 2025. The research subjects were 16 fifth-grade students, comprising 9 males and 7 females. Data collection techniques included documentation, observation, and testing. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: students' pantun reading skills on the Pantun material for Grade V at SDN 043 Batu Gajah were 25% before the intervention, then increased to 37.5% in Cycle I Session I, and further increased to 56.25% in Cycle I Session II. Furthermore, in Cycle II Meeting I, it increased to 68.75%, and in Cycle II Meeting II, it increased to 87.5%. Thus, it can be concluded that using the Jigsaw Learning Model can improve students' pantun reading skills in Indonesian language learning on the pantun material for Grade V at SDN 043 Batu Gajah. Abstract

This study aims to improve the mathematical conceptual understanding of students through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model in Grade V students of MI AL-Fitrah. The problem faced was the low level of students’ conceptual understanding in mathematics, as indicated by the large number of students struggling to solve math-related problems, decreased self-confidence, reliance on formulas without understanding, declining learning outcomes, and imbalance in the learning process. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 13 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation. The results showed an improvement in students’ mathematical conceptual understanding after the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model. In the pre-cycle, only 38% of students achieved mastery. After the implementation of Cycles I and II, the percentage of mastery increased significantly. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model is effective in improving students’ understanding of mathematical concepts. This model provides opportunities for students to learn actively and independently in discovering and understanding mathematical concepts.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low storytelling skills of students in class III SDM 002 Penyasawan, the purpose of this research is to improve storytelling skills through storytelling methods assisted by image media. The method used is Class Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, each cycle consists of two meetings with stages of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The research subjects amounted to 28 students. Data collection techniques are carried out through documentation, observation, and tests. The research instrument is in the form of observation sheets of teacher and student activities as well as documentation of the learning process. Data were analyzed descriptively, qualitatively, and quantitatively through the calculation of average test scores and analysis of the development of learning activities. The results of the study showed an increase in the classical completeness of the pre-action, which was 25%, in the first cycle of the first meeting to 25%, then in the first cycle of the second meeting it increased to 53.57%. Furthermore, in the second cycle of the first meeting it was 71.42% and in the second cycle of the second meeting reached 92.85%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the storytelling method assisted by image media can improve the storytelling skills of students in class III 002 Penyasawan

Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills in mathematics learning through the problem based learning model in class IV of Muhammadiyah 028 Penyasawan Elementary School. This research is motivated by the low mathematical communication of students. This research is a classroom action research. The subjects in this study were 1 teacher and 20 fourth-grade students of Muhammadiyah 028 Penyasawan Elementary School. The object of this research is the problem based learning model and mathematical communication skills. This research was conducted in 2 cycles, each cycle carried out 2 meetings. The data collection techniques used in this study were tests, observation and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis used was descriptive qualitative and quantitative with percentages. Based on the increase in the number of students who achieved the criteria for achieving learning objectives (KKTP) and the increase in class average scores and classical scores. The presentation value of students' mathematical communication skills before the action showed that 6 students or 30% were in the very poor mathematical communication skills category. Then after applying the problem based learning model in cycle I meeting I there were 9 students who achieved mastery, which is 45% in the poor mathematical communication skills category, in cycle I meeting II there were 11 students who achieved mastery, which is 60% in the poor mathematical communication skills category, in cycle II meeting I there were 14 students who achieved mastery, which is 70% in the good mathematical communication skills category, and then in cycle II meeting II there were 18 students who achieved mastery, which is 90% in the very good mathematical communication skills category. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the problem based learning model can improve students' mathematical communication in Mathematics learning in class IV of Muhammadiyah 028 Penyasawan Elementary School.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the mathematical problem-solving skills of fifth-grade students at UPT SDN 016 Bukit Ranah, Kampar District, through the implementation of Polya’s instructional model. The research method employed was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 15 students, comprising 7 boys and 8 girls, in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and documentation, with qualitative analysis used for learning activities and quantitative analysis for students’ problem-solving test results. The findings revealed an improvement in students’ classical mastery at each stage. In Cycle I, Meeting 1, the classical mastery rate was 40%, which increased to 53% in Meeting 2. In Cycle II, Meeting 1, it rose to 87% and further increased to 93% by the end of Cycle II. This improvement indicates that Polya’s instructional model is effective in helping students understand problems, formulate solutions, carry out problem-solving steps, and draw conclusions. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of Polya’s instructional model can significantly enhance the mathematical problem-solving skills of fifth-grade students at UPT SDN 016 Bukit Ranah.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low narrative writing skills of fifth-grade students at UPT SDN 019 Muara Uwai in the Indonesian language subject. The study aims to improve students’ narrative writing skills by using the Concept Sentence learning model. This research employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method consisting of two cycles. The research subjects were 15 fifth-grade students at UPT SDN 019 Muara Uwai. Data collection techniques used were observation, tests, and documentation. The research instruments included teacher and student activity observation sheets, as well as narrative writing skill tests. The data analysis technique used was descriptive. The results showed an improvement in students’ narrative writing skills. In the pre-action stage, the students’ average score was 36.33 with a learning mastery of 20%. After the implementation of the first cycle, the average score increased to 64 with a learning mastery of 33.33%. In the second cycle, the average score further increased to 82 with a learning mastery of 80%. This improvement indicates that the Concept Sentence learning model is effective in enhancing students’ narrative writing skills. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of the Concept Sentence learning model can improve students’ writing skills in the Indonesian language subject for fifth-grade students at UPT SDN 019 Muara Uwai.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of instilling socially responsible character values ​​in learning to develop students with noble character. The purpose of this study was to determine how teachers implement socially responsible character values ​​in science and studies learning in elementary schools. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results indicate that teachers have a good understanding of implementing socially responsible character values, such as empathy, mutual cooperation, and responsibility, through learning and school activities. Teachers consistently implemented habituation patterns, role models, and environmental conditioning strategies. However, obstacles remain, such as a lack of student self-confidence and the influence of a less than supportive family environment. The school has also attempted to address these obstacles through collaboration with parents and regular social activities. In conclusion, the implementation of socially responsible character values ​​in science and studies learning has been quite successful, although several aspects still require improvement.
