Abstract

The Nias tribe generally chooses urban areas as a place to migrate because the city symbolizes dynamism and is the center of all progress. People who decide to migrate must determine the right destination area. The people of Nias migrate to an area or leave their area for several reasons. Firstly, economic reasons, the difficulty of meeting living needs in their hometown is one of the factors that most influences the migration activities carried out by the people of Nias. Secondly, there is a social reason, there is an opinion that people who migrate to the other side are considered to have broader experience/insight, have a lot of wealth and money. Third, family reasons, the people of Nias migrate because they already have or have had family members or friends who have migrated first. In this research, researchers focused on the economic adaptation strategies of Nias migrants who migrated to Tarutung sub-district. The researcher chose the title of this research to find out how Nias migrants adapt to the economy in Tarutung. Researchers chose to conduct research on economic adaptation strategies for Nias migrants in Tarutung because the economy is a fundamental aspect of human life, including migrants. The type of research used in this research is qualitative approach research. Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health concern in Indonesia, particularly in rural communities where nutritional knowledge and access to health services are limited. This community service program, conducted in October 2024 at HKBP Hutaraja Dolok, aimed to address this issue by integrating quality statistical education with faith-based engagement to empower local communities in monitoring and reducing stunting. The program introduced basic statistical tools—including Z-scores, growth chart interpretation, and prevalence analysis—through interactive workshops targeting caregivers, youth, and church leaders. Religious leaders supported the intervention by embedding health messages within spiritual teachings to promote behavioral change. As a result, participants demonstrated improved understanding of child growth indicators, initiated independent height monitoring, and committed to sustained community involvement. The combination of data literacy and religious motivation proved effective in promoting evidence-based practices, reinforcing the value of statistical empowerment within culturally rooted health programs. This model offers a scalable approach to community-driven stunting interventions in faith-based settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the tourism conditions of Siboruon Tourism Village and explore its development opportunities through the culinary subsector. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with data analyzed through SWOT analysis. The findings reveal that Siboruon Tourism Village holds significant potential to be developed as a tourist destination, primarily due to its natural beauty and cultural richness. These strengths serve as the main attraction for visitors, although the development process is still constrained by limited infrastructure, public facilities, and insufficient promotional efforts. Meanwhile, the culinary subsector demonstrates strategic value in supporting tourism growth. Local specialties such as Ayam Rias Siboruon, Otara Coffee, and Selai Toberu not only offer unique flavors but also represent the cultural identity of the community. These authentic culinary products can be developed into gastronomic tourism experiences and high-value souvenirs. The study concludes that the development of Siboruon Tourism Village requires collaborative strategies involving local government, business actors, and the community to strengthen its identity based on local potential in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to describe gazebo management strategies as tourism infrastructure to increase visitor attraction at Pasir Putih Parparean II Beach, Porsea Subdistrict, Toba Regency. The beach is a unique destination in the Lake Toba area, characterized by fine white sand that is rarely found in the region. However, visitor data from the Toba Regency Tourism Office reveals a significant decline, from 35,304 visitors in January–April 2023 to only 1,550 visitors in January–August 2025. This decline is closely linked to the unplanned construction of permanent gazebos on the beach area, which has reduced the open space that constitutes the beach’s main attraction. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through in-depth observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The key informants consisted of three beach managers: Herbert Napitupulu, Nora Pandiangan, and Her Hutasoit, selected purposively based on their direct involvement and in-depth knowledge. Two regular tourists were also included as additional informants. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that gazebo management strategie including facility improvements, environmental landscaping, and the provision of supporting amenities contribute significantly to enhancing visitor comfort and tourism appeal. This study recommends more systematic and planned management, spatial restructuring of gazebo placement, and the implementation of effective promotional strategies to support Pasir Putih Parparean II Beach as a sustainable tourism destination.

Abstract

Data literacy and environmental awareness are essential competencies for students in responding to contemporary social and environmental challenges. However, the integration of statistical education with real-life environmental contexts remains limited in many secondary schools. This community service program aimed to foster data literacy and environmental awareness among students at SMAN 1 Sipoholon through statistics-based educational activities. The program was conducted on 10 October 2025 and involved 25 participants consisting of students, internal participants, organizers, and a resource person. The implementation was carried out through two main stages: (1) training and capacity building in basic statistical concepts, and (2) reward-based question-and-answer activities to reinforce learning outcomes. Data were collected using pre- and post-activity questionnaires, observation sheets, and analysis of student responses during interactive sessions. The results indicate an improvement in students’ understanding of basic statistical concepts, increased engagement during learning activities, and enhanced awareness of the role of data in interpreting environmental issues. Positive responses from teachers and students highlight the effectiveness of contextual and participatory learning approaches supported by lecturer and university student mentoring. Despite limitations related to time and learning resources, the program demonstrated promising outcomes and offers a replicable model for similar educational contexts. This community service initiative contributes to the promotion of quality education and environmental awareness in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
