Abstract

Indonesia is classified as a country with a high level of natural disaster vulnerability, including volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, banji, landslides, earthquakes and so on. One important step in reducing the risk of natural disasters is to improve preparedness for individuals and health workers. Preparedness can be influenced by various factors including self efficacy and attitude. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of self efficacy and attitude on nurses' preparedness in facing earthquake disasters in the Coastal Region of Sukabumi Regency. Methods: Correlational research with cross sectional approach. The population and sample in this study were all nurses in the Coastal Region of Sukabumi Regency as many as 160 people, using total sampling technique. Data collection techniques using questionnaires. The validity test results on all instruments for each variable have a p value < 0.05 and are declared valid. The results of the instrument reliability test for each variable > 0.6 so that it is declared to have a high reliability value. Data analysis included univariate analysis using mean and standard deviation, bivariate analysis using simple linear regression and multivariate analysis using multiple linear regression. Results: The results showed that there was a significant effect of self efficacy (p-value 0.017) and attitude (p-value 0.000) on nurse preparedness. There is a simultaneous influence of self efficacy and attitude towards nurse preparedness which is quite strong (R Square 0.274). Conclusion: There is a significant effect of self efficacy and attitude on nurse preparedness.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Communities in disaster-prone areas face repeated exposure to natural hazards, yet the role of social capital in enhancing disaster resilience is underexplored in Indonesia. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between dimensions of social capital—social cohesion, social participation, and reciprocity—and community disaster resilience in Sukabumi, West Java. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 700 residents aged ≥18 years using an online questionnaire. Disaster resilience was measured with the Brief Resilience Scale, and social capital with validated subscales. Multiple linear regression analyzed associations between social capital and resilience. Results: Older age, higher education, experience of housing damage (22.4%), loss of friends or relatives (44.6%), and higher levels of social cohesion, participation, and reciprocity were significantly associated with greater disaster resilience (all p<0.05). The regression model explained 56% of the variance (R²=0.56). Conclusion: Social capital is a significant predictor of community disaster resilience in high-risk areas. These findings can guide health professionals, especially nurses, to design targeted interventions for disaster preparedness and long-term recovery.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has increased screen time exposure among early childhood, particularly in the preschool age group (3–6 years), which is a critical phase for cognitive, language, and emotional development. The high duration of device usage exceeding the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) indicates that children’s screen time habits are closely linked to the family environment, especially parental mediation patterns. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the relationship between parental mediation and screen time habits in preschool-aged children, as well as to identify the most effective mediation strategies for controlling digital media use. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) approach.Data sources were obtained from several international databases, including Scopus, ScienceDirect, PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar, covering publications from 2010 to 2026. The selected articles met inclusion criteria in the form of empirical studies discussing parenting patterns or parental mediation and screen time in preschool children. The data were analyzed narratively to identify relationship patterns and determinant factors influencing children’s screen use behavior. The findings indicate a significant relationship between parental mediation and both the duration and quality of children’s screen time. Restrictive mediation has proven to be the most effective in controlling screen time duration, while active mediation plays an important role in improving the quality of children’s digital experiences. In contrast, weak parental mediation, technoference, and the use of devices as a digital pacifier contribute to increased and uncontrolled screen time. In addition, parental modeling behavior is a key predictor in shaping children’s digital habits. In conclusion, the effective management of screen time in preschool-aged children strongly depends on the quality of parental mediation, including restriction, active interaction, and behavioral consistency. Therefore, balanced parenting strategies are needed through the implementation of a family media plan, enhancement of parental digital literacy, and the provision of non-digital alternative activities to optimally support children’s development in the digital era.

Abstract

The management of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) remains suboptimal, particularly in terms of treatment adherence and quality of life, calling for community-based solutions to strengthen social support for people living with HIV. This study aimed to develop the PEER-CARE Model to improve treatment adherence and quality of life among people living with HIV within the community. This study employed a one-group pre-test and post-test design involving 15 people living with HIV in Region IV of Sukabumi Regency, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the MMAS-8, WHOQOL-HIV BREF, and MSPSS, which have demonstrated satisfactory validity and reliability in previous validation studies. Data were analysed using a paired-samples t-test, with effect size calculated using Cohen’s d. There was a statistically significant increase in treatment adherence, quality of life and perceived social support following the intervention (p<0.05). The PEER-CARE Model had a significant effect on treatment adherence and quality of life among people living with HIV.
