Abstract

Maritime education management plays a crucial role in ensuring cadets are well-prepared for the maritime industry through practical learning onboard training ships. This study focuses on how practical learning on training ships, such as KL Husni Thamrin, KL Bung Tomo, KL Malahayati, KL Laksamana Muda John Lie, KL Sultan Hasanudin, KL Frans Kaisepo, KL Barombong bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world experience. Cadets are provided with hands-on experience in navigation, ship handling, and emergency simulations, following international standards set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This practical approach helps develop essential technical and non-technical competencies required in the maritime industry. However, challenges such as resource limitations, weather conditions, and high operational costs require efficient management and innovative teaching strategies. This article explores these aspects and offers recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of maritime education management for cadets' onboard learning experiences. Ultimately, this study emphasizes the need for continuous improvement in educational management frameworks within maritime institutions, suggesting that collaborative efforts with industry stakeholders and the adoption of innovative teaching methods can further enhance the training quality for future maritime professionals. By addressing these challenges and leveraging technological advancements, maritime education can ensure its graduates are not only competent but also adaptable to the ever-evolving demands of the global maritime landscape.

Abstract

The training aims to enable participants to equip participants with trained, skilled, and tested abilities in electric welding. The training is designed to accommodate a total of 42 lesson hours and will take place over five days from March 13 to March 17, 2023. The face-to-face learning method is employed at Atung Bungsu Airport in Pagar Alam to facilitate practical activities using actual equipment in the field. The theoretical learning sessions are conducted on-site, allowing participants and instructors to remain at the location throughout the training. Face-to-face interactions, discussions, and questions are facilitated during the scheduled sessions, while additional communication is maintained through a WhatsApp Group. The practical session takes place after participants have completed the theory session and passed the theory exam. It is held in the Atung Bungsu Airport environment, where participants actively engage in hands-on activities. Strict adherence to health protocols is maintained throughout the learning activities. Assessment of learning outcomes is based on participants' attendance records and comprehensive exam results, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of their progress and performance.

Abstract

This emphirical study aims to identify the learning innovation improvement strategy through the MBKM program at STIP Jakarta. The literature research technique was used to conduct this study, and information was gathered through literature references, pertinent observations and documentation, interviews with members of the Academic Division, as well as other studies on the MBKM policy. Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM), a self-study independent campus project of the Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, enables students to explore their talents and interests outside of academic learning. This program is a part of a larger endeavor that has two parts: Merdeka Belajar, which encourages talent and autonomous study and Kampus Merdeka, which offers contextual field experiences to enhance skills and prepare students for the future. According to the study's findings, the MBKM program's implementation at STIP had not been as effective as it could have been because only three out of eight types of off-campus learning—research, internships/work experiences, and humanitarian projects—had been completed, while five more were still being worked on through the management policy process. In order for students to attain the best learning outcomes and to constantly be relevant in terms of attitude, knowledge, and skills, STIP must develop policies and execute innovative learning methods. The Kampus Merdeka is an independent and adaptable organization that promotes a creative learning environment that doesn't restrict and fits the demands of cadets, which in turn has implications for improving the quality of STIP education.
