Abstract

Paparan sinar ultraviolet (UV) matahari yang kuat secara terus menerus dapat menyebabkan eritema, sunburn, penuaan dini dan kanker kulit. Diperlukan kosmetik tabir surya untuk melindungi kulit dari dampak buruk sinar UV. Secara empiris, daun kokang (Lepisanthes amoena (Hassk.) Leenh.) digunakan oleh etnik Kutai, etnik Dayak Tunjung, dan etnik Dayak Benuaq di Kalimantan Timur sebagai kosmetik dan obat untuk penyakit kulit. Daun kokang diolah menjadi bedak dingin (pupur) dan digunakan untuk melindungi kulit selama bekerja di ladang di bawah terik matahari. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji efektivitas ekstrak etanol daun kokang sebagai tabir surya dengan metode spektrofotometri. Daun kokang diekstraksi dengan etanol 95% kemudian dilakukan pengukuran nilai SPF secara in vitro menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis dengan panjang gelombang antara 290-320. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun kokang pada konsentrasi 700 ppm memiliki nilai SPF 50 termasuk kategori very high protection.

Abstract

Serunai (Chromolaena odorata L.) is a medicinal plant, including the Asteraceae family. Serunai is used to treat wounds, mouthwash to treat sore throats, coughs, malaria drugs, headache medications, antidiarrheals, antimicrobials, antispasmodics, antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory and diuretic agents. Serunai plants contain chemical compounds tannins, phenols, flavonoids, saponins and steroids. The purpose of this study was to determine the total phenolic content of the leaves of serunai using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method. The stages of the research include plant determination, sampling, making of simplicia leaf of serunai, making extract by maceration method, phenolic compound test, determination of total phenolic levels by UV-Vis spectrophotometry with Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, comparing gallic acid. The results obtained by an average of total phenolic levels of ethanol extract of serunai is 171.30368 ± 1.9694 mg GAE / g means that in every gram of ethanol extract of flattened leaves is equivalent to 171,30368 mg gallic acid.

Abstract

Bawang dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan berkhasiat yang mempunyai aktifitas sebagai antioksidan. Salah satu senyawa aktif yang terdapat dalam ekstrak etanol umbi bawang dayak yang merupakan senyawa flavonoid. Optimasi pembuatan ekstrak perlu dilakukan untuk mendapatkan kandungan zat aktif yang tinggi. Optimasi pembuatan ekstrak salah satunya adalah metode ekstraksi. Penelitian merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan objek penelitian adalah kadar flavonoid dari umbi bawang dayak. Penelitian dilakukan untuk membandingkan hasil metode ekstraksi yaitu metode maserasi dan sokletasi dengan menggunakan pelarut yang sama. Kadar flavonoid diuji menggunakan metode spektrofotometri berdasarkan pembentukan senyawa kompleks aluminium klorida, dengan standar baku kuersetin. Data dianalisis dengan uji statistik independent T-Test menggunakan SPSS versi 20. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kadar flavonoid rata-rata pada metode ekstraksi maserasi sebesar 1,09% lebih besar daripada metode ekstraksi sokletasi sebesar 0,81%. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan nilai sig 0,005 lebih kecil dari 0,05 dengan taraf kepercayaan 95%, yang berarti bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kadar flavonoid metode ekstraksi maserasi dan sokletasi.

Abstract

Health is an important aspect of life. According to the World HealthOrganization (WHO), hand hygiene is one of the most important steps to prevent and control the spread of disease (maintaining health). At the time of activity, hands are often contaminated with microorganisms because the hands are an intermediary for the entry of microbes into the digestive tract. The purpose of this activity is to provide education to the community, especially those in TelukLerong Ulu and Bugis Villages about how to make hand sanitizer. The method of this activity is lecture, discussion and training. Community service activities in TelukLerong Ulu and Bugis Villages on June 24, 2020 went smoothly and received a good response. Each participant brought home their own homemade product.

Abstract

Garbage is a problem that has not been resolved until now. The central and local governments have tried to make regulations on waste management and have disseminated them to the public, but the waste problem still cannot be resolved. Community concern for the environment plays an important role in overcoming this problem. Starting from the smallest scope, namely the family or household to get used to managing waste properly and correctly. Household waste, especially kitchen waste, can be used as compost. The processing of household waste into compost can be done individually or in groups such as at the RT level. This community service aims to provide counseling about the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and the use of household kitchen waste as compost. The activity is intended for residents of Jalan Agus Salim RT 18, Sungai Pinang Luar District, Samarinda. The method used is counseling followed by demonstration of composting, pre-test and post-test are also carried out to determine the level of community understanding of this community service activity. This activity was attended by the head of the RT and several residents as representatives of the residents of the RT. The existence of this activity is expected to change people's behavior to be better in managing waste and become a source of income for residents.

Abstract

Kecap asin merupakan produk olahan kedelai yang digunakan sebagai penyedap masakan. Agar memiliki waktu simpan yang cukup lama, produsen umumnya menambahkan pengawet natrium benzoat, salah satu bahan pengawet yang diperbolehkan dalam bahan makanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menetapkan kadar natrium benzoat serta kesesuaian kadar natrium benzoat menurut SNI 01-2543-1999 dalam produk kecap asin yang beredar di Pasar Pagi Kota Samarinda. Identifikasi natrium benzoat dilakukan dengan reaksi warna menggunakan FeCl3 5%, sedangkan penetapan kadar natrium benzoat menggunakan metode Spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga sampel yang diuji positif mengandung natrium benzoat ditandai dengan terbentuknya endapan kecoklatan. Kadar natrium benzoat yang diperoleh menunjukkan seluruh sampel memenuhi persyaratan SNI 01-2543-1999 yaitu tidak melebihi ambang batas 600 mg/kg. Kadar natrium benzoat pada sampel A sebesar 157,66 mg/kg ± 1,35, sampel B sebesar 148,65 mg/kg ± 0,20 dan sampel C sebesar 12,90 mg/kg ± 0,27.

Abstract

Abstract Embelia borneensis known sekilang used by the Dayak Kenyah tribe of Long Temuyat Village, Malinau, North Kalimantan as a fish poison and leech repellent. Sekilang bark extract contains alkaloids, tannins, saponins and flavonoids compounds. The purpose of this study was to determine the type and content of saponins in the methanol extract based on different maceration, reflux, and Soxhlet extraction methods. Saponin content was determined by the gravimetric method.  The results showed that the type of saponin contained in sekilang bark extract was triterpenoid saponin. The average saponin content with maceration method was 24.87%, reflux method was 28.97 and soxhlation method was 29.99%. The results of data analysis with one-way anova statistical test showed that there was a significant difference between extraction methods on saponin content of sekilang stem bark with sig value of 0.009 with a significant level of 0.05 (5%).

Abstract

Long-term, intense sun exposure can cause erythema and sunburn, as well as premature aging and skin cancer. For generations, the people of the Banjar tribe of Borneo have applied a wet paste of Sonneratia caseolaris leaves mixture on the skin when undertaking tasks in the hot sun. The Sonneratia caseolaris tree is a mangrove plant that grows on river banks throughout the Borneo Island. The study aims to formulate Sonneratia caseolaris leaves ethanol extract into a stable lotion and test its efficacy as a sunscreen. Sonneratia caseolaris leaves were macerate with 70% ethanol, and the sunscreen activity of the extract was examined in vitro with a UV-visible spectrophotometer, and then formulated into a lotion dosage form. Organoleptic and homogeneity observations, pH measurements, viscosity measurements, and spreadability measurements were all performed on the lotion. Following that, the lotion sunscreen activity of was tested in vitro. The Sonneratia caseolaris extract sunscreen lotion has met the requirements of organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, and spreadability tests. Sunscreen lotion with 2.5% Sonnerata caseolaris extract classified as standard suntan. Sonneratia caseolaris extract of Borneo has the potential to develop as a raw material for herbal cosmetics. Abstract

            The plant Nyirih (Xylocarpus granatum) has medicinal benefits. The selection of solvents should consider the characteristics of the secondary metabolites to be extracted. The objective of this study is to determine the flavonoid content in Nyirih fruit extract using 70% methanol and 70% ethanol solvents using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The results of the moisture content test showed 24% for methanol extract and 28.5% for 70% ethanol extract. Phytochemical screening of Nyirih fruit extract in methanol and 70% ethanol solvents tested positive for flavonoid content. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) results showed an rf value of 0.88 for both solvents, while the reference compound, quercetin, had an rf value of 0.90. The highest flavonoid content was found in the 70% ethanol extract at 1.4345 ± 0.2182% and in the methanol extract at 1.3530 ± 0.2280%. The t-test results indicated a significant difference in the flavonoid content value.

Abstract

Biji alpukat memiliki kandungan zat yang bermanfaat bagi tubuh yang dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif dalam mengobati sakit gigi, maag kronis, hipertensi dan diabetes melitus. Ekstrak etanol biji alpukat (Persea americana Mill.) memiliki kandungan senyawa flavonoid, alkaloid, tanin, dan proantosianidin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar proantosianidin ekstrak etanol biji alpukat (Persea americana Mill.) dengan metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dimulai dengan pengumpulan biji buah alpukat yang diperoleh dari kebun alpukat jalan Berambai Kota Samarinda, pengolahan simplisia, pembuatan ekstrak dengan cara maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 95%, skrining fitokimia, dan penetapan kadar proantosianidin menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis dengan pembanding katekin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa biji alpukat mengandung sejumlah besar alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, triterpenoid, tanin dan proantosianidin. Ekstrak yang positif mengandung proantosianidin dengan penambahan pereaksi Vanilin-HCl pekat yang spesifik bereaksi pada polifenol dengan inti flavan-3-ol, kemudian dibaca pada panjang gelombang 499 nm, dan diperoleh rata-rata kadar proantosianidin dalam ekstrak etanol biji alpukat sebesar 2,41 mgCE/ g Ekstrak ± 0,88096.
