Abstract

ABSTRACT Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious global health issue caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In South Kalimantan, the province ranks seventh in the number of cases, with Puskesmas Martapura 1 recording 1,364 cases of pulmonary TB in 2022. Evaluating the TB program at this health center is essential for identifying the strengths and weaknesses of program implementation. The study was conducted at Puskesmas Martapura 1 in Banjar District in 2023. A qualitative research method was employed to assess the evaluation of the pulmonary TB program at Puskesmas Martapura 1. The input components of the pulmonary TB program at Puskesmas Martapura 1 were found to be suboptimal. There were limitations in the examination facilities, as TCM testing could not be performed at this health center. The process components of the pulmonary TB program were also not optimal, with record-keeping and reporting, as well as cross-checking, often not conducted timely. In terms of output, while the case detection rate met the target, the conversion and cure rates did not meet the targets set by the Banjar District Health Office. The error rate at Puskesmas Martapura 1 was 1.8%. To improve the success of the pulmonary TB program at Puskesmas Martapura 1 in Banjar District, several improvements are necessary. A weekly checklist cross-checking schedule should be established to prevent the accumulation of documents that can occur when checks are conducted quarterly. Daily record-keeping and reporting should also be implemented after patients complete their treatment to avoid report backlogs. Additionally, planning for patients who miss their treatments is essential to ensure they do not default on their medication and complete their treatment courses. Keywords: Tuberculosis, Evaluation of TB Program, TCM, Community Health Center  ABSTRAK Tuberkulosis (TB) adalah masalah kesehatan global serius yang disebabkan oleh Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Abstract

Only with Control Group Design.

Abstract

Pediculosis capitis is the presence and development of parasites caused by Pediculus humanus capitis, which infest the scalp and are commonly known as head lice. This study aimed to determine the microscopic characteristics of Pediculus humanus capitis and the characteristics of respondents based on age, educational level, and personal hygiene among female students at an Islamic boarding school in Bangkiling Raya in 2026. This research employed a descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of female students living in the dormitory, and 35 respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Samples were collected by combing the hair with a fine-toothed lice comb, and microscopic examinations were conducted at the Banua Lawas Community Health Center Laboratory. The results showed that 22 respondents (63%) were positive for Pediculus humanus capitis, while 13 respondents (37%) were negative. The respondents' characteristics indicated that the majority were aged 11–15 years (51%), most were junior Islamic secondary school (MTs) students (77%), and 51% had good personal hygiene. Microscopic examination successfully identified adult lice and nits based on their characteristic morphological features. Health education is needed to reduce the incidence of pediculosis capitis in the Islamic boarding school environment.

Abstract

Vaginal discharge is a common reproductive health problem among adolescent girls and may be influenced by personal hygiene practices and knowledge of reproductive health. Female students living in Islamic boarding schools are at higher risk due to shared facilities, crowded dormitories, and limited access to health services. This study aimed to describe personal hygiene, level of knowledge, and the incidence of vaginal discharge among female students at Wali Songo Putri Islamic Boarding School, Banjarbaru, in 2026. This research used a descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 78 female students, and 55 respondents were selected using purposive sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using univariate analysis and presented in frequency distribution tables. The results showed that most respondents had good personal hygiene, with 26 students (47.3%), followed by moderate personal hygiene with 21 students (38.2%) and poor personal hygiene with 8 students (14.5%). The level of knowledge about vaginal discharge was mostly good, with 24 students (43.6%), followed by moderate knowledge with 21 students (38.2%) and poor knowledge with 10 students (18.2%). The incidence of vaginal discharge showed that 48 students (87.3%) experienced pathological vaginal discharge, 6 students (10.9%) experienced physiological vaginal discharge, and 1 student (1.8%) did not experience vaginal discharge. In conclusion, most female students had good personal hygiene and good knowledge; however, the incidence of pathological vaginal discharge remained high. Therefore, reproductive health education, improvement of sanitation facilities, and early health screening are needed to prevent pathological vaginal discharge among female students.
