Abstract

The quality of a vehicle is considered good if it is able to provide an adequate level of safety and comfort for the driver. Each car is equipped with a braking system whose job is to slow down the vehicle's speed. Therefore, care and maintenance of the braking system is very important to ensure that the system can operate optimally and return to good performance. The aim of this research is to find out troubleshooting and maintenance of the Pajero Sport car braking system. This research was conducted at PT. MITSUBISHI DIPO INTERNATIONAL PAHALA AUTOMOTIVE SERANG CITY which was carried out from February to March 2024. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach and a case study type of research. The data shows visual analysis and measuring tools for factors that cause problems with the braking system, including rust found on the piston in the master cylinder, which then causes the piston to jam. The maintenance step is to carry out cleaning using a corrosion removing fluid. The data obtained from the measurements, vibrations felt when braking, are caused by thin/uneven brake pads and wavy brake discs, so maintenance efforts include sanding/turning and replacing them with new ones.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the effect of current strength variations on the Direct Current Negative Electrode (DCEN) polarity on the results of welding at butt joint joints. In this study, ASTM A36 steel was chosen as the main material, while the E6013 electrode was used as the welding electrode. The method used is an experimental approach with a qualitative approach, which allows researchers to gain a deeper understanding of the effect of current variables on welding results. The results of three experiments conducted at welding current of 60 A, 90 A, and 120 A provide a clear picture of the effect of these variables on the butt joint. In the first specimen with a current strength of 60 A, there was not enough penetration and many defects in the capping. Low current strength does not produce optimal welding results at the joint. However, in the second specimen with a current strength of 90 A, there was an initiation of penetration, although it was still incomplete. There are also fewer defects in the capping compared to the first specimen, and it shows an increase in welding results with an increase in current strength. In the third specimen with a current strength of 120 A, there is better penetration, but still not achieving complete penetration. In addition, the capping has many defects, including the suck back. It shows that using high current strength only sometimes produces optimal welding results and can present challenges, such as joint defects.

Abstract

Metode pengelasan SMAW digunakan secara luas dalam industri untuk menggabungkan material logam dengan kekuatan yang tinggi. Namun, pengelasan SMAW dapat menghasilkan cacat seperti porositas, retak, dan pengotoran yang dapat mempengaruhi kekuatan dan keandalan sambungan las. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi pengaruh ketebalan root face dan polaritas terhadap defect pada tembusan hasil pengelasan SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) dengan kuat arus ideal. Adapun Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu metode eksperimen dengan acuan uji AWS D1.1. Teknik pengumpulan datanya dengan melakukan pengujian pelat menggunakan cairan dye penetrant test dengan waktu yang dibutuhkan selama 40 menit setiap spesimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketebalan root face yang optimal dapat mengurangi terbentuknya defect pada tembusan pengelasan SMAW. Ketebalan root face yang terlalu tipis dapat menyebabkan pengotoran dan porositas, sedangkan ketebalan yang terlalu tebal dapat menyebabkan retak atau reject pada sambungan las. Selain itu, polaritas juga mempengaruhi terbentuknya defect. Penggunaan polaritas yang tepat dapat mengurangi terjadinya porositas dan retak pada sambungan las. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa dimana polaritas DCEN  menghasilkan tembusan yang ideal pada root face 2 mm, sedangkan Polaritas DCEP  menghasilkan tembusan yang ideal pada root face 3 mm, maka dari itu kami rekomendasikan polaritas DCEN sangat cocok untuk  pengerjaan root face 2 mm pada proses pengelasan SMAW.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menuliskan tentang proses perbaikan sistem heater pada kiln dry dengan fokus pada industri pengeringan kayu di PT. Sejin Lestari Furniture Rangkasbitung. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya pemeliharaan, termasuk pembersihan dan penanganan perbaikan heater untuk memastikan sistem berfungsi optimal dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan metode studi kasus, dan analisis data deskriptif kualitatif. PT. Sejin Lestari Furniture Rangkasbitung sistem heater terkadang mengalami pengeringan dan penyumbatan pada sistem kiln dry dimana sistem tersebut mengalirkan bahan bakar yaitu oli dari boiler menuju kiln dry dengan melalui heater. Identifikasi masalah melibatkan heater, mulai dari boiler yang mengalirkan oli menuju heater, diikuti oleh langkah-langkah perbaikan yang harus dilakukan. Perbaikan heater melibatkan pembersihan bagian yang kotor dan tersumbat. Heater dilakukan perbaikan ketika tidak mengeluarkan panas yang optimal, dan mengalami penyumbatan yang disebabkan penggumpalan oli dan akan mengakibatkan proses pengeringan kayu tidak optimal, sehingga harus dilakukan perbaikan dengan proses pembakaran agar oli tidak menggumpal dan tidak tersumbat. Hasil perbaikan diharapkan meningkatkan efisiensi kiln dry, mengoptimalkan proses pengeringan, dan mendukung kualitas produk kayu yang dihasilkan.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the impact of using technology-based learning media on class X Software Engineering (RPL) students at SMKN 7 Serang City. In the ever-growing digital era, technology has become an important part of education, offering various forms of learning media that are more interactive and interesting. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to explore the challenges and impacts of using technology-based learning media on student learning outcomes. Data collection techniques were carried out through literature studies, interviews and direct observation. The research results show that the use of technology-based learning media can improve the quality of learning and understanding of the material by students, as well as motivate them to be more active in learning. Media such as digital tutorials, e-learning, and simulations allow students to learn independently and gain practical skills relevant to the world of work. However, there are significant challenges, such as limited technological facilities and gaps in access between students who have devices and those who do not. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve technological facilities and equalize access for all students. This research contributes to understanding the role of technology in education, especially at SMKN 7 Serang City, as well as providing recommendations for maximizing the implementation of technology-based learning media in vocational education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Lathe operator competence is needed in every manufacturing industry, especially in the field of turning. Currently, employment in Indonesia, especially in the manufacturing industry, has increased from year to year, so it is necessary to identify the work and tasks of a lathe operator. This study aims to (1) identify the work and (2) tasks of lathe operators in the medium scale manufacturing industry. The method used in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. The object of this research is a lathe operator from a medium sized manufacturing industry in Serang city, Indonesia. For data collection, this study used observational studies. The data analisys technique used was descriptive analysis and Dacum Research Chart which was validated by Expert Judgement. This study successfully identified (1) Five types of work and (2) Twenty-two tasks performed by a lathe operator in a medium-scale manufacturing industry with sixteen knowledge and skills as well as eight attitudes that must be possessed by a lathe operator and as many as forty-one machines and supporting tools whose operation must be controlled by a lathe operator in a medium-scale manufacturing industry.

Abstract

Salah satu strategi untuk mempermudah proses pembelajaran maka sangat dibutuhkan sebuah acuan berupa modul ajar yang berisi capaian pembelajaran, tujuan pembelajaran, kompetensi yang ingin dicapai, sampai sarana prasarana dan instrumen penilaian yang akan digunakan. Penelitian pengembangan ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui tingkat kelayakan modul ajar Gambar Teknik Manufaktur dari sisi materi dan media. Model penelitian dan pengembangan yang digunakan dalah model 4D, akan tetapi pada pelaksanaannya hanya dibatasi sampai ke tahap pengembangan (develop) saja. Menurut validator ahli materi, modul ajar yang dikembangkan mendapatkan kategori layak dengan persentase 88,04%. Sedangkan menurut validator ahli medi modul ajar yang dikembangkan mendapatkan kategori layak dengan persentasi 71,88%. Atas hal tersebut, hasil dari penelitian ini merupakan modul ajar Gambar Teknik Manufaktur yang layak tetapi perlu perbaikan terlebih dahulu sebelum disebar luaskan.   Kata Kunci: Modul ajar, pengembangan, model 4D

Abstract

Vocational education in SMK aims to prepare students to become skilled labourers who are ready to enter the industrial world. Subjects such as lathe and milling machining play an important role in developing students' technical skills. This research aims to identify challenges in the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL)-based sustainable project assignments in these subjects at SMKN 7 Serang City, as well as explore strategies to improve learning effectiveness. The research used a case study approach with qualitative descriptive method. Data was collected through direct observation and documentation. The results show that although the PjBL method helps students develop technical skills and soft skills, there are some obstacles. Challenges include lack of facilities, differences in students' ability to operate machines, and non-conformity with the ideal stages of PjBL, such as project design and schedule preparation which are still dominated by teachers. But in each stage of PjBL that is implemented, there are still some that are not in accordance with the application of PjBL. In addition, time management is the main obstacle in project completion. This study recommends increasing the role of students in all stages of PjBL, improving practical facilities, and strengthening supervision and guidance. In conclusion, optimal implementation of PjBL can improve technical skills and student readiness to face the world of work.

Abstract

Preventive maintenance is a strategic step to maintain machine performance and reliability, especially on roll-forming machines used in the metal plank frame production process at PT. Line One Indonesia. This research aims to determine preventive maintenance to maintain the quality of print results and minimize the risk of damage to roll-forming machines. The method used is a case study of maintenance on a roll-forming machine with a qualitative approach and qualitative descriptive data analysis. This data collection technique involves observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the discussion show that implementing preventive maintenance on roll-forming machines regularly and in a planned manner can improve machine performance and the quality of metal plank frame products with final results that are more precise and match the desired size, so implementing preventive maintenance regularly becomes an effective solution to support operational sustainability and meet applied and expected production standards.Keywords: preventive maintenance, roll forming machine, print quality, metal plank frame Perawatan preventif adalah langkah strategis untuk menjaga kinerja dan keandalan mesin, terutama pada mesin roll forming yang digunakan dalam proses produksi metal plank frame di PT. Line One Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perawatan preventif dalam mempertahankan kualitas hasil cetak serta meminimalkan risiko kerusakan pada mesin roll forming. Metode yang digunakan studi kasus perawatan pada mesin roll forming dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan analisis data deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data ini dengan melakukan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa dengan melakukan penerapan perawatan preventif pada mesin roll forming secara  terencana dapat menjaga kelancaran proses produksi dan untuk meningkatkan kualitas produk serta memastikan kinerja mesin tetap baik. Dengan penerapan perawatan yang mencakup pemeriksaan, pembersihan, pelumasan dan uji coba secara berkala untuk mendukung keberlanjutan operasional dan memenuhi standar produksi yang diterapkan dan diharapkan.Kata kunci: perawatan preventif, mesin roll forming, kualitas cetak, metal plank frame

Abstract

The palm oil industry is an industry that produces palm oil. In palm oil processing, some stages have used machines. One of the machines in the palm oil industry is the distributing conveyor. The function of the distributing conveyor is to carry and distribute fresh fruit bunches from the fruit elevator to the digester. Maintenance is an activity carried out to repair or restore something that is damaged or experiencing problems. The main objective of this research is to analyze the component damage on the distributing conveyor machine and perform Corrective Maintenance on the machine through component replacement on the distributing conveyor machine. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach using the ex post facto method and the results were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. For data collection techniques, namely observation, literature study, and interviews. The results of the discussion are that when the Sprocket component on the distributing conveyor machine is damaged, signs such as vibration in the engine, abnormal sound, and decreased engine performance will appear and the effect when it is still forced to be used is to reduce the effectiveness of power transfer and the appearance of vibration or rumbling in the chain. In Corrective Maintenance actions there are several stages carried out, namely making component designs, modifying components, and replacing components. After the replacement of the new sprocket, the engine can function normally again, and the signs or disturbing effects have been resolved. Keeping machinery in good condition through timely Corrective Maintenance is critical to improving efficiency, productivity, and safety in industrial environments. Corrective Maintenance, although it tends to be more expensive, remains a part of the machine maintenance strategy to achieve optimal production results.
