Abstract

The wheat processing industry is one of the vital sectors that involves a complex and sustainable manufacturing process. In carrying out the wheat transfer process, transportation tools equipped with sensors play an important role in ensuring that moving raw materials runs safely and efficiently. In this study, the aim is to understand the types of sensors used in product transportation and the characteristics of each sensor. The method used is a case study method. Milles and Huberman model the qualitative approach. This study uses three types of sensors in the product moving process: proximity sensors, limit switches, and belt monitors. By using these three sensors, product transfer becomes more efficient and safer. Utilizing safety sensors on transportation equipment can minimize errors in the product transfer process and is also safe because it can prevent malfunctions. Applying these three sensors makes it easier for employees to carry out the product transfer process.

Abstract

Low student learning outcomes in certain competency elements of vocational education raise concerns about the adequacy of supporting factors, particularly facilities and infrastructure. This study aims to examine the influence of workshop facilities and infrastructure in the TKRO practicum on student learning outcomes at SMK Negeri 5 Kota Serang. Using a quantitative approach with a descriptive method, data were collected from classes XI TKR 1 and XI TKR 2, totaling 73 students selected through simple random sampling. The research data passed statistical assumption tests and were further analyzed using simple linear regression, yielding an R Square value of 0.119. This indicates that workshop facilities and infrastructure contribute 11.9% to the variation in student learning outcomes. It can be concluded that although the influence is not dominant, facilities and infrastructure still significantly affect student achievement. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for schools and policymakers in evaluating and improving vocational workshop facilities to enhance educational quality. Furthermore, this research highlights the importance of integrating physical resources with pedagogical practices to maximize their impact. One of the study's novel contributions is the identification of a gap between perceived adequacy of facilities and actual student performance, which emphasizes the need for better alignment between infrastructure use and instructional design. Therefore, improving learning outcomes in vocational education requires not only complete facilities but also competent teaching, motivated learners, and a structured learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the relationship between soft skills and job readiness among 12th-grade students in the Industrial Mechanical Engineering program at SMK Pasundan 2, Serang City. The research method used is a correlational study with a quantitative approach. The research was conducted at SMK Pasundan 2, Serang City, involving all 30 students from the 12th-grade Industrial Mechanical Engineering program as respondents, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through the distribution of questionnaires. The data analysis techniques used include validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing, and non-parametric hypothesis testing. The results of the analysis show that the Spearman's rho correlation coefficient is 0.648 with a significance of 0.000. Since the significance value is less than 0.05, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the soft skills variable (X) and job readiness (Y).

Abstract

Vocational High Schools (SMK) aim to produce workers with the technical (hard skills) and non-technical (soft skills) abilities needed to succeed in the era of globalization. Graduates are expected to thrive and compete in the global job market. This study aims to: (1) determine the level of learning achievement in SMAW welding among 12th-grade students at SMKN 2 Kota Serang, (2) analyze the factors influencing SMAW welding competency achievement. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological type and data collection techniques including document analysis, observation, and interviews. The data sources in this study were the Head of the Study Program, productive teachers, and 12 students from classes XII TPL 1 and TPL 2. The results of the study indicate that students' competency achievement, particularly in terms of theoretical mastery, is still relatively low. Conversely, students' practical skills showed better results, especially in steel plate welding activities. However, in underhand welding positions according to the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), both theoretical understanding and practical skills still need to be improved. In terms of visual inspection of welding results, most students have understood the basic theory and are able to identify several types of welding defects, although their understanding of international standards such as ISO 5817 is not yet optimal. Factors influencing competency achievement include the quality of teaching methods, student motivation and discipline, and the availability of practical facilities, particularly limited equipment. Overall, students' competency achievement in SMAW welding is not yet fully optimal and still requires improvement, both in cognitive and psychomotor aspects.

Abstract

Vocational education requires teachers to possess professional competencies that are relevant to industrial developments, including skills in weld inspection. However, most vocational high school (SMK) teachers still face limitations in understanding inspection procedures based on international standards. This condition creates a gap between the teaching process and the needs of industry, which emphasizes weld quality. Therefore, a systematic training program is needed to improve the quality of welding instruction in vocational schools. This activity aimed to strengthen the competencies of vocational school teachers in conducting weld inspections according to the American Welding Society (AWS) standards. The methods included needs assessment, delivery of theoretical materials, practice of visual inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT), as well as process and outcome evaluation. The training was implemented in a participatory manner through a combination of lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice with experienced instructors. The results indicated that teachers gained better conceptual understanding of weld inspection standards. Moreover, their technical skills in visual inspection and the application of NDT methods improved significantly. Process evaluation showed active participation and high enthusiasm among participants, while outcome evaluation demonstrated high levels of satisfaction with the instructors’ competence and the relevance of the materials to school practices. Overall, the training effectively bridged teachers’ competency gaps and enhanced the relevance of vocational learning to industry standards.

This study uses a survey type with a quantitative approach. Data analysis techniques in this study used Descriptive Analysis, Validity Test, Reliability Test, Analysis Prerequisite Test, Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, T Test, F Test and Determination Coefficient Analysis Test (R2). The sample used in this study was 75 students. The results of the study with the t test showed that entrepreneurial knowledge had a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial interest, self-efficacy had a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial interest, entrepreneurial character had a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial interest and simultaneously (f test) there was a positive and significant effect of entrepreneurial knowledge, self-efficacy, and entrepreneurial character on Entrepreneurial Interest. This is evidenced by the results of the F test which showed a calculated F value of 22.756 and a significance of 0.000, where sig F <0.05. The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.490, which means that 49.0% of students' interest in entrepreneurship can be explained by the variables of entrepreneurial knowledge, self-efficacy, and entrepreneurial character. While the remaining 51.0% is influenced by other variables that were not analyzed in this study.

Abstract

SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) welding has wide applications in the industrial world. To master welding technology, it is necessary to carry out further research on the effect of gaps on the microstructure after experiencing welding. Welding is a process of joining metalsby heating process, because of that, the process can change the basic properties of the base material. In this study, the material used was ASTM A36 carbon steel. That material was weldedby many variables that have been determined and the limitations of the problem during the study. The required specimen welding results are 6 pieces. There are three kindsof variables in this research; theywere independent variables, namely the Rootgap distance and polarity on the electrodes of the SMAW welding machine, using two types of polarity, namely (DCEN) and (DCEP). The dependent variables in this study were defects in the translucency of SMAW welding results obtained bySolvent Penetrant Testing method. The control variables in this study were welding current 90A, Voltage 21V, Electrode AWS A5.1 E6013 with SMAW welding process and Butt-joint welding type. The welding joint was a V-groovewith 30º of bevel angle and 2mm of root face. The study results showed that the welding translucency is affected by polarity and rootgap distance, where the DCEN polarity showed better translucent welding results than welding with DCEP polarity, even though it was still not in accordance with the standard.
