Abstract

Electrical energy is one of the basic needs for humans today, almost every activity we do is inseparable from the use of electrical energy, the use of electrical energy must be paid according to the amount and duration of electricity use in electricity management authorized by state-owned companies, namely PT. PLN Persero using kWh meter. In the postpaid type kWh Meter (Kilo Watt Hours), we cannot know the amount of electrical power that has been used in real-time.This research aims to design a system that can acquire power consumption in kWh andpower consumption costs (Watts) real-time by utilizing the ACS712 current sensor and voltage sensor circuit as input current and voltageand then processed by Arduino Uno for processing. The data is in an application interface, then the usage data is stored automatically in the data base local by the MySQL application. The results of this study are by comparing the calculation of power consumption (Watt) and the nominal cost of electricity in anapplication interface. After the data is obtained, it can be concluded that the readings from input the current and voltage sensor in this system are not accurate and unstable, so that the comparison of the value by the kWh meter is 4.8 kWh with a nominal cost of Rp. 7,745.76, while in this system design the power value obtained is 9.08 kWh with a nominal usage fee of Rp. 14,652.39. Then the difference in value between the calculation of kWh and the design of this system is 4.28 kWh, with a nominal difference in the cost of using it of Rp. 6,906.63.

Abstract

This study proposes a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to enhance power extraction performance in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) systems operating under dynamic and varying environmental conditions. The proposed method is designed to optimize the system's operating point to ensure that the power generated by the fuel cell is fully utilized. In this research, the PSO algorithm is integrated with an Interleaved Boost–Buck Converter (IBBC), which functions to reduce current ripple and improve the stability of the output power in the energy conversion system. This integration is expected to provide a faster and more efficient system response in adjusting to changes in operational conditions. One of the main challenges in implementing MPPT in PEMFC-based systems is the nonlinear characteristics of PEMFC itself, which are highly influenced by various external parameters such as operating temperature, hydrogen pressure, and membrane water content. Variations in these parameters can cause fluctuations in output voltage and current, making the maximum power point tracking process more complex. Therefore, an adaptive optimization method with good convergence ability is required. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed PSO method achieves a tracking accuracy of up to 99.96% with a settling time of 2 seconds under varying membrane water content conditions. The PSO approach also outperforms the Fuzzy Logic and Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) methods. These findings confirm that the integration of PSO and IBBC significantly improves both the accuracy and speed of MPP tracking in PEMFC systems.

Abstract

Voltage control in DC–DC converters, especially buck converters, is a crucial element in modern power electronics systems because it directly impacts the efficiency, stability, and quality of supply in low- to medium-power electronic devices and industrial applications. Recent studies have emphasized that the nonlinear and load-dependent dynamics of converters require control strategies capable of maintaining stability despite parameter variations and external disturbances. PID-based control methods remain the most widely used approach due to their ease of implementation and ability to handle transient responses, although improper parameter tuning often leads to overshoot and slow response in power converter systems. This challenge is increasingly apparent in buck converters, which have fast dynamics and high sensitivity to load changes, making conventional tuning sometimes inadequate. Internal Model Control (IMC) is one of the modern tuning methods that offers a solution due to its model-based approach and its ability to produce control parameters that are more robust to system uncertainty. This study specifically analyzes the application of the IMC-PID method in buck converters by utilizing the FOPDT model to obtain the , , and  parameters. This approach is expected to provide more stable, faster, and adaptive tuning results compared to conventional methods. Keywords: IMC, PID, buck converter, voltage control.

Abstract

Abstract

The condenser is one of the most fouling-prone parts of an HVAC system, and as deposits build up the compressor draws more power while efficiency falls. Predictive maintenance tries to catch this decline early, but it needs a dependable estimate of how much useful life the component has left. As a preliminary, simulation-based feasibility study, this work examines whether an explainable and physically consistent model can supply that estimate for an air-cooled condenser. Using the asymptotic Kern-Seaton model, a degradation dataset covering one complete fouling cycle (180 days sampled every minute) was generated, and from it six thermal and electrical features were derived and checked against the underlying physics. A Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN) was then trained with a physics-informed penalty that prevents the predicted life from rising over time, and SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) were used to expose the reasoning behind each prediction. On a quartile-stratified test set the unconstrained TCN obtained a mean absolute error of 2.63 days and an R2 of 0.994, against 3.43 days for an LSTM baseline. Adding the physics penalty raised the error only slightly, to 2.88 days, while cutting non-monotonic predictions, a deliberate trade-off of a small amount of pointwise accuracy for physically consistent RUL trajectories. SHAP ranked the approach temperature as the most influential feature, which matches the way fouling degrades heat transfer. The predicted RUL and a derived Health Index were finally translated into a four-level maintenance decision scheme. The results indicate that the framework is promising; validation on real sensor data is the necessary next step.

Abstract

Reactive power dispatch (RPD) is a crucial optimization task in power system operation because it seeks the optimal settings of control variables, such as generator voltages, transformer tap positions, and shunt VAR compensators, to reduce active power loss while satisfying operating constraints [file:1]. This study investigates the application of the fmincon solver and particle swarm optimization (PSO) to the RPD problem on three benchmark IEEE test systems, namely the 30-bus, 57-bus, and 118-bus networks [file:1]. For the IEEE 30-bus system, the minimum active power loss obtained by fmincon and PSO was 4.5480 MW and 4.4858 MW, respectively, corresponding to loss reductions of 21.88% and 22.95% from the initial value of 5.8223 MW [file:1]. For the IEEE 57-bus system, the power loss was reduced from 0.2846 p.u. to 0.2473 p.u. by fmincon and to 0.2362 p.u. by PSO, equivalent to reductions of 13.11% and 17.01%, respectively [file:1]. These results show that both methods are effective for large-scale RPD optimization, while PSO generally provides the best performance among the compared techniques in terms of active power loss minimization. The contribution of this study lies in providing a focused comparison between a deterministic nonlinear programming solver and a population-based metaheuristic approach across different system sizes, thereby demonstrating their practical suitability for large-scale reactive power optimization

Abstract

The development of power electronics technology demands a voltage regulation system that has high performance and good stability. One device that is widely used in voltage regulation is the buck converter, which functions to reduce the voltage from a higher level to a lower level efficiently. However, the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the buck converter can cause a less than optimal system response if the control method used is not appropriate, even though the system is operating under nominal conditions. This study proposes the application of the Arctic Puffin Optimization–Proportional Integral (APO-PI) method to improve the performance of the voltage regulation in the buck converter. The APO algorithm is used to optimize the parameters of the PI controller to obtain a faster, more stable, and more accurate voltage response. The results of the application of the APO-PI method show an increase in system performance in terms of transient response and voltage stability, characterized by reduced overshoot and shorter settling time. Thus, the APO-PI method is effectively used to improve the performance of the buck converter without requiring changes in system operating conditions.
