Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of profitability, leverage, and liquidity on firm value in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2022–2024 period. Firm value is proxied by Price to Book Value (PBV), while profitability is measured using Return on Assets (ROA), leverage using the Debt-to-Equity Ratio (DER), and liquidity using the Current Ratio (CR). This study uses a quantitative approach with a purposive sampling method, resulting in 90 observational data from the financial statements of manufacturing companies that meet the research criteria. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression, preceded by classical assumption tests including normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation tests. The results show that leverage has a significant effect on firm value, while profitability and liquidity do not. This finding indicates that investors consider a company's funding structure more than its profit-generating ability or liquidity level in assessing manufacturing companies during the study period. This research is expected to provide empirical contributions to company management in formulating financial policies and to investors in making investment decisions.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of Canva-based mathematics learning media on student learning outcomes. The experimental quantitative research with a post-test design involved 72 participants divided into two groups: VII G as the experimental class and VII J as the control class. Data collection was conducted through tests, then analyzed using t-test to identify the significance of the learning media's influence. Statistical analysis findings through the t-test revealed sample uniformity with a probability of 0.049, which exceeds the critical threshold of 0.05. This indicates a meaningful variation in post-test achievements between the two research groups. Consequently, Canva-based mathematics learning media demonstrably exerts a positive influence, highlighting its superior effectiveness in classroom instructional processes.

Abstract

Agriculture is a strategic sector for Indonesia's economy, and East Java is a major contributor to national rice production due to its large harvested area and high productivity. However, farmer’s welfare remains relatively stagnant, reflected in the Farmer's Term of Trade Indeks (NTP) which has only ranged between 100-105 during 2014-2025. This study aims to analyze the effect of harvest productivity and rice harvest prices on the welfare level of food crop farmers in East Java. This research using a quantitative approach and data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression with harvest productivity, rice harvest prices, and the NTP as indicators of farmer’s welfare. The data used is secondary time series data for the period 2014-2024 from the East Java Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The results indicate that both rice harvest productivity and rice harvest price have a positive but not signifficant effect on farmer’s welfae. The coefficient of determination (Adjusted R²) of 0.260 shows that only 26% of variations in farmers' welfare can be explained by these two variables, while 74% are influenced by other factors. These findings suggest that increases in yield and market prices have not yet been able to significantly improve farmers' welfare and are contrary to the Islamic economic perspective, which emphasizes fair distribution of value and benefits. This study recommends the need for agricultural policy interventions that are fair, sustainable, and in line with Islamic economic principles.

Abstract

Amid limited attention to the interplay between visual thinking and semiotic processes in calculus learning, this study aims to describe students’ semiotic ability to represent calculus problems at different levels of visual thinking. This study employed a descriptive qualitative case study design to explore students’ semiotic abilities in representing calculus problems at different levels of visual thinking. The subjects were selected through purposive sampling from fourth-semester Mathematics Education students. Data were collected through written tests and semi-structured interviews, then analyzed using Peirce’s Triadic semiotic framework. The findings indicate that students with high visual thinking ability can construct deep conceptual interpretants, particularly in understanding derivatives as dynamic processes and as geometric transitions from secant lines to tangent lines; however, they have difficulty articulating this understanding through written visual representations. Students with moderate visual thinking ability demonstrate partial comprehension of semiotic components and can integrate them only with reflective scaffolding. In contrast, students with low visual thinking ability fail across all semiotic aspects and therefore tend to rely on mechanistic procedures without a strong conceptual foundation. These results suggest a strong positive relationship between visual thinking and semiotic ability and underscore the urgency of integrating multimodal, visually oriented approaches into calculus instruction to foster comprehensive conceptual understanding.

Abstract

In calculus learning, students often rely on procedural methods when studying the first derivative, which limits their ability to grasp its deeper conceptual meaning. This procedural focus represents a significant learning challenge that needs to be addressed. This study aims to analyze students’ semiotic processes in interpreting or expressing the definition of the first derivative using Peirce’s triadic framework, which emphasizes the interrelation among the representamen, the object, and the interpretant. A qualitative case study approach was employed with 21 mathematics education students, using written tests and in-depth interviews with three students who demonstrated the most complete semiotic competence. Thematic analysis identified three categories of understanding: comprehensive, partial, and pseudo. Results indicate that students with comprehensive understanding can coordinate symbolic, visual, and verbal representations, forming stable interpretants that conceive the derivative as the slope of a tangent line or an instantaneous rate of change. In contrast, students with partial or pseudo understanding exhibit fragmented semiotic processes and a dominance of procedural approaches. These findings provide important educational value by offering diagnostic insight into students’ conceptual difficulties, informing instructional design that integrates multiple representations, and supporting the development of more valid assessment strategies that capture students’ conceptual understanding beyond procedural performance.
