Abstract

Hand hygiene is a simple thing that is often overlooked, especially in schools located in coastal areas with limited sanitation facilities. This community service activity aims to introduce innovations in the production of liquid hand soap and sea salt-based paper soap as an effort to improve health and empower the local economy. The implementation methods include education, demonstrations of production, and direct training for community partners. This service was carried out at Banda Aceh State Elementary School 61 from July to September 2025. The training produced 30 L of liquid soap and 1000 sheets of paper soap; by the end of the session, 75% of participants completed all production steps correctly (checklist). Entrepreneurial outputs included a student–teacher sanitation team and two product mock-ups with basic costing (estimated unit cost Rp 12.000 per 500 mL vs market price Rp 18.000). These results indicate technical feasibility and school-based micro-enterprise potential. For sustainability, the school committed to monthly in-house production led by the sanitation team and integrating the activity into UKS to secure continuous supply and ongoing skill transfer.

Abstract

White snapper Lates calcarifer is one of the marine fish commodities that has important economic value. The addition of immunostimulant ingredients in feed is believed to increase immunity and increase fish growth. This study aims to determine the effect of adding -glucan to feed on white snapper (Lates calcarifer). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments with 3 repetitions. White snapper used with a weight of 6 grams and a length of 7. The frequency of feeding is done 3 times a day. The results of the ANOVA test showed that the addition of -glucan in the feed significantly affected the growth rate of the fry of white snapper (Lates calcarifer) (P0.05). The best treatment in this study was treatment E (commercial feed + -glucan 8g/kg feed) which gave the best growth in White snapper where this treatment was able to increase absolute weight (4.51 0.29), absolute length (4 .84 0.284), specific growth rate (2.09 0.15), FCR (1.00 1.00), feed utilization efficiency (97.42 0.50) and survival (100.00 0.00).

Abstract

Cellulolytic bacteria that produce cellulase enzymes play an essential role in degrading cellulose in their habitat. The presence of cellulolytic bacteria strongly supports the fertility and productivity in mangrove waters. The objectives of the study are to analyze the activity of cellulase enzyme qualitatively through the cellulolytic index and quantitatively through the activity and specific activity of the cellulase enzyme from bacteria isolated from the water of mangrove ecosystems in Aceh Province. The qualitative experiment of enzyme activity was carried out at the Microbiology laboratory SKIPM Aceh, and a quantitative experiment of enzyme activity was conducted at the Microbiology Laboratory, Biology Department, IPB. Isolation of cellulolytic bacteria isolated from mangrove water usedCarboxy Methyl Cellulose(1% CMC) selective media and carried out by spread plate method. The ability of bacteria to produce cellulase was tested qualitatively using the spot technique, this test was carried out using 1% Congo Red. Furthermore, the quantitative testing of cellulase enzymes activity adopted the DNS spectrophotometric method. The specific activity of the cellulase enzyme can be determined by using the Lowry method. There were 21 isolates that had a clear zone and had the ability to produce cellulase enzymes from 49 isolates that were successfully purified. The highest cellulolytic index (CI) produced using BAM421 isolate with the value of 5.50 was included in the high category, followed by BAM326 and BAM132 isolates, with values of 1.55 and 1.05 were categorized into the medium category. The other isolates were in the low cellulolytic index category. The isolate with the highest CI value was further tested using the quantitative enzyme activity test. The highest cellulase enzyme activity of BAM421 occurred at 24hr (0.0029 U/ml). The highest specific cellulase activity of BAM421 was at 24hr with the value of 0.210 U/mg. The result concluded that the qualitative test showed CI values can be categorized into low, medium, and high. Moreover, the value of the quantitative assay described that the cellulase enzyme and the specific enzyme activities of the bacteria were low in the study area. Keywords:Cellulolytic indexQuantitative testMangrove watersCellulase enzymeMicroorganismTRANSLATE with x EnglishArabicHebrewPolishBulgarianHindiPortugueseCatalanHmong DawRomanianChinese SimplifiedHungarianRussianChinese TraditionalIndonesianSlovakCzechItalianSlovenianDanishJapaneseSpanishDutchKlingonSwedishEnglishKoreanThaiEstonianLatvianTurkishFinnishLithuanianUkrainianFrenchMalayUrduGermanMalteseVietnameseGreekNorwegianWelshHaitian CreolePersian// TRANSLATE with COPY THE URL BELOW Back EMBED THE SNIPPET BELOW IN YOUR SITE Enable collaborative features and customize widget: Bing Webmaster PortalBack//

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) histopatology status in traditional cultured ponds at Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province. The sampling was carried out by purposively random method from seven ponds and two shrimps were sampled from each pond. Several water quality parameters were checked like temperature, pH, salinity and ammonia. Result showed that black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) which were cultivated in traditional ponds in the Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province were histopathologically changes. It was suspected the hepatopancreas changes were associated with viral infection like Hepatopancreatica Parvovirus (HPV) and White Feces Disease (WFD). Ammonia concentrations were found higher in some ponds like Alu Buya Village, Jangka Keutapang Village, Jangka Mesjid Village, Alu Kuta Village and Punjot Village. The management of regular feeding and water quality control is highly recommended to anticipate the viral potential attack in traditional shrimp pond farming at Jangka District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province. Keywords:Tiger shrimps Histopathology Water quality
