Abstract

The available geometry teaching module at IAIN Kerinci still do not adequately accommodate students to discover material through scientific project tasks, and they are not yet integrated with Islamic values. The purpose of this research is to examine the practicality of geometry teaching materials based on modified Project Based Learning (PjBL) "Kapal Nabi Nuh." This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The subjects of this research are 15 students of Class 2A in the Department of Mathematics Teaching at IAIN Kerinci. The instrument used in this research is a practicality questionnaire sheet assessed by the geometry course lecturer and students. The results of this research are geometry teaching module based on modified Project Based Learning "Kapal Nabi Nuh" declared practical, with a practicality response rate from lecturers obtained at 76.9% and from students obtained at 82.6%.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar berupa handout bangun datar berbasis etnomatematika untuk siswa kelas VII SMP.Penelitian ini merupakan jenis Penelitian dan Pengembangan (research and development), proses pengembangan handout dengan menggunakan model 4D yaitu define, design, develop, disseminate. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana tingkat kevalidan pada handout bangun datar berbasis etnomatematika untuk siswa kelas VII SMP.Berdasarkan hasil validasi oleh ahli materi di peroleh skor rata-rata sebesar 80% kriteria Valid. Hasil validasi oleh ahli media di peroleh skor rata-rata sebesar 84,61% dengan kriteria Sangat Valid. Hasil validasi oleh ahli bahasa di peroleh skor rata-rata sebesar 80% dengan kriteria Valid. Hal ini dapat di simpulkan bahwa bahan ajar yang dikembangkan mempunyai kriteria valid sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai bahan ajar dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the implementation of learning in schools underwent a change from face-to-face learning in class to online learning. One form of online defense that is carried out at SMPN 3 Sungaipuh is learning mathematics using the Photomath application. The purpose of this study was to determine the planning, implementation, evaluation and constraints encountered in learning Mathematics using the photomath application. This type of research use a descriptive qualitative analysis approach. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study are that in implementing Mathematics learning assisted by the photomath application in solving Mathematics problems can be done in 4 stages, namely: (1) The planning stage, which starts from the stage in recognizing the photomath application and downloading it on the teacher's and students' android. (2) The stage of implementing the photomath application, which is the stage that starts from writing questions, taking photos and scanning questions, answering questions and solving steps in the photomath application, copying questions, working on practice questions, and evaluation/assessment, (3) Evaluation results Mathematics learning with the help of the photomath application has been going well as seen from the 20 grade VIII students of SMPN 3 Sungai Full who managed to solve the problems well as many as 15 people. (4) Constraints/weaknesses in using the photomath application are difficult for students who do not have an Android which will make students only copy answers. Based on the results of the research above, researchers suggest using the photomath application to help teachers teach students to answer sample questions quickly and in complete steps -the steps.

Abstract

Bahan ajar geometri yang tersedia masih belum mewadahi mahasiswa untuk menemukan materi melalui tugas proyek ilmiah, serta masih belum terintegrasi dengan nilai-nilai keislaman. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat efektivitas bahan ajar geometri berbasis modifikasi project Based Learning dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Research and Devepment (R&D) dengan menggunakan model 4-D (define, design, develop, dessiminate). Tahap penelitian ini adalah pendefinisian, perancangan, pengembangan dan penyebaran. Tahap dalam menentukan efektifitas bahan ajar ini adalah tahapan dessiminate. Subjek dalam penelitian ini dalah seluruh mahasiswa Tadris Matematika IAIN Kerinci yang menempuh mata kuliah Geometri. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif yang terdiri dari 3 pertanyaan. Tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa di analisis menggunakan kategori ketuntasan klasikal kelas. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar Geometri berbasis modifikasi model PjBL efektif dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa dengan memperoleh rerata ketuntasan klasikal siswa adalah 61 dengan kategori efektif.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of guided inquiry in students’ conceptual understanding in learning the Pythagorean Theorem, through a Student Activity Sheet based on the guided inquiry learning model. This research used a qualitative descriptive research method, which was carried out in class VIII F of SMP Negeri 2 Sungai Full. The data collection techniques used are documentation, observation and written tests. The data obtained in this research was analyzed using data triangulation techniques. The research results show That Guided Inquiry plays a role in helping students to understand the concept of the Pythagorean theorem formula, through several learning stages. In learning that uses guided inquiry, students are guided in a structured manner to understand the Pythagorean theorem formula By finding it yourself and being facilitated by the teacher. In addition, student learning results show that the average score obtained is above the Minimum Completeness Criteria score for mathematics subjects of 65.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon, namely the low interest in learning of students in learning Islamic religious education. This research aims to determine the effect of the demonstration method in Islamic religious education learning on students' interest in learning. This research method is a quantitative quasi experiment, with a nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were 95 class IX students. This research used 2 classes, namely the experimental class using the demonstration method and the control class using commonly used methods such as the lecture method. Data on student learning interest was obtained through a scale with a Likert scale model. The data analysis technique uses the t test formula with the help of the SPSS application. The calculation used is a comparative analysis of the posttest scores of the control class and the experimental class. The results of this statistical analysis showed that the significance (2-tailed) was 0.000 < 0.05. So, it can be concluded that the results of this research reveal that there is an influence of the demonstration method on students' interest in learning, because learning using the demonstration method can increase students' interest in learning.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the ability to understand mathematical concepts between students with Feeling and Thinking personality types. The qualitative descriptive method with a case study design was applied to four students of SMA N 3 Sungai Full who were selected based on the results of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test. The instruments used were personality type questionnaires, tests of ability to understand mathematical concepts, and unstructured interviews. Data analysis was carried out using data triangulation to ensure the accuracy and validity of the results. Students' understanding of mathematical concepts in the feeling and thinking aspects on the seven indicators that have been evaluated shows relatively low results, even though their approaches to learning are different. Students with the Feeling type tend to consider more emotional aspects in their understanding, while students with the Thinking type focus more on logic and analysis. This research underscores the importance of approaches tailored to students' personality types to improve their understanding of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Purposes: This research investigates the extent to which personality traits, as defined by the MBTI framework, influence students' ability to reason statistically in the context of a mathematical statistics course. The study particularly focuses on examining how distinct cognitive tendencies, categorized within the MBTI’s four dimensions, affect students’ capabilities in understanding, organizing, presenting, and interpreting statistical information. Method: A qualitative case study approach was adopted involving eleven students enrolled in a mathematics education program at a higher education institution in Indonesia. Participants completed the MBTI questionnaire to determine their personality classifications. In addition, a statistical reasoning assessment was administered to evaluate their cognitive strategies across established reasoning indicators. Observational data and written explanations were also gathered to enrich the analysis. The findings were interpreted through descriptive qualitative techniques, with triangulation applied to ensure accuracy and credibility. Findings: The analysis revealed that students identified with the STJ and ESTJ personality types exhibited more proficient reasoning patterns, particularly in applying logical steps and organizing data systematically. On the other hand, participants with NTJ or ISFJ traits showed challenges in representing data visually and articulating their thought processes clearly. Interestingly, the Introvert and Extrovert distinction did not appear to influence performance in a meaningful way. Significance: This study offers insights into the role of personality in learning statistics. It emphasizes the need for differentiated instructional methods. Adapting teaching strategies to accommodate varied personality profiles may enhance student engagement and conceptual mastery in statistical learning environments.

Abstract

This study examines students’ logical-mathematical thinking skills in solving arithmetic problems by considering introverted and extroverted personality types. A descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving four ninth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a logical thinking ability test, the MBTI personality questionnaire, and structured interviews. The results showed that overall, students’ logical-mathematical thinking skills were relatively low, with most participants categorized as “Very Low.” Extroverted students demonstrated greater variation in performance, with one student achieving slightly higher logical thinking skills than the others. However, no significant differences were observed between introverted and extroverted students in their logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities. These findings suggest that personality type alone does not substantially determine students’ logical-mathematical thinking skills; other factors, such as learning motivation, conceptual understanding, and instructional strategies, also contribute to these outcomes. This study highlights the importance of implementing tailored instructional approaches to enhance students’ focus, motivation, and constructive feedback in supporting the development of logical thinking skills among students with diverse personality types.

Abstract

Geometri merupakan elemen krusial dalam program matematika di beragam tingkat pendidikan, mulai dari sekolah dasar sampai menengah. Berbagai studi mengindikasikan bahwa banyak murid masih menghadapi tantangan dalam membangun pemahaman serta mengaitkan konsep-konsep geometris. Salah satu pendekatan yang sering diteliti untuk mengurangi masalah ini adalah penerapan alat peraga sebagai media nyata dalam proses belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan analisis meta-analitik mengenai dampak pemakaian alat peraga terhadap pemahaman konsep geometri di berbagai tingkat pendidikan di Indonesia Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah meta-analisis kuantitatif, dengan meninjau 20 artikel diterbitkan antara tahun 2015–2024 yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi: (1) menggunakan desain eksperimen atau quasi-eksperimen, (2) memuat data statistik yang relevan, dan (3) fokus pada variabel pemahaman konsep geometri. Data dianalisis menggunakan ukuran efek Cohen’s d dan random effect model untuk mengakomodasi heterogenitas antar-studi. Hasil analisis mengungkapkan mengenai penerapan alat peraga memberikan dampak positif yang signifikan terhadap pemahaman konsep geometri dengan nilai rata-rata ukuran efek (effect size) sebesar 0,82, yang tergolong dalam kategori tinggi. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa alat peraga efektif dalam membantu siswa mentransformasikan konsep abstrak menjadi representasi konkret, sehingga memperkuat proses berpikir visual-spasial dan konstruksi makna geometri. Penelitian ini memberikan bukti empiris yang kuat bahwa alat peraga bukan sekadar media bantu, tetapi merupakan bagian integral dari pembelajaran geometri yang bermakna dan berorientasi pada pemahaman konsep. Melalui penggunaan alat peraga yang terencana, berkelanjutan, dan kreatif, proses pembelajaran matematika dapat bertransformasi dari aktivitas abstrak menjadi pengalaman belajar yang konkret, menarik, dan membangun kemampuan berpikir spasial secara mendalam.
