Abstract

ABSTRACT Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) Is a plant that is widely known by the public. Patchouli plants are widely planted for oil. Patchouli oil is much needed for the cosmetic, perfume, antiseptic, and others industries. Patchouli leaves (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) Contain essential oils, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, glycosides, terpenoids and steroids. Alcohol content such as patchouli alcohol and its derivatives, phenol and terpenoid groups in patchouli oil have antibacterial activity. All parts of this plant can also be used as a headache medication, and diarrhea medicine. The purpose of this study was to determine how much the inhibitory effect of patchouli leaves on the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria.This type of research is an experiment consisting of six treatments with three repetitions. this research was conducted with RAL method (Complete Random Design). Patchouli leaf extract was obtained from maceration. The inhibitory test of patchouli leaf extract using Agar well method.The results obtained 3 times the lowest concentration treatment at 30% with an average (mean) of 1.83 mm, then with a concentration of 40% with an average (mean) of 2.26 mm and at a concentration of 50% with an average (mean) that is 3.43 mm is in the medium category, while there are 2 positive controls, tetracycline and flanked by tetracycline with an average (mean) of 4.5 mm and a flap does not produce an inhibitory zone and also a negative control (NaCl 0, 9%) does not produce an inhibitory zone. Keywords: patchouli leaf extract, inhibitory power, Escherichia coli ABSTRAK Nilam (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) merupakan tanaman yang sudah banyak dikenal oleh masyarakat luas Tanaman nilam banyak ditanam untuk diambil minyaknya. Minyak nilam banyak dibutuhkan untuk industri kosmetik, parfum, antiseptik, dan lain-lain.Daun nilam (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) memiliki kandungan minyak atsiri, flavonoid, saponin, tanin, glikosida, terpenoid dan steroid. Kandungan alkohol seperti patchouli alcohol beserta turunannya, fenol dan golongan terpenoid pada minyak nilam memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. Semua bagian dari tumbuhan ini juga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai obat sakit kepala, dan obat diare.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar daya hambat daun nilam terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen yang terdiri atas enam perlakuan dengan tiga kali pengulangan. penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode RAL (Rancangan Acak Lengkap). Ekstrak daun nilam diperoleh dari hasil maserasi. Uji daya hambat ekstrak daun nilam menggunakan metode sumuran Agar.Hasil penelitian diperoleh 3 kali perlakuan konsentrasi terendah pada 30% dengan rata-rata (mean) yaitu 1,83 mm, kemudian dengan konsentrasi 40% dengan rata-rata (mean) yaitu 2,26 mm dan pada konsentrasi 50% dengan rata-rata (mean) yaitu 3,43 mm termasuk dalam kategori sedang, sedangkan kontrol positif ada 2 yaitu tetrasiklin dan diapet dimana tetrasiklin dengan rata-rata (mean) yaitu 4,5 mm dan diapet tidak menghasilkan zona hambatdan juga control negatif (NaCl 0,9%) tidak menghasilkan zona hambat. Abstract

ABSTRACT Mental disorder is a physiological process or mentally said a person cannot function properly so that it interferes with daily activities. Handling mental patients with antipsychotic therapy is a pharmacological therapy. Therapy aims to restore the patient's normal function and prevent recurrence of the disease. Side effects were shown in hospitalized psychiatric patients given antipsychotic therapy, one of which was an increase in liver enzyme levels (SGOT and SGPT). The purpose of this study was to describe the levels of SGOT and SGPT in mental patients receiving antipsychotic therapy. This study was a descriptive study with a cross sectional study design. The levels of SGOT and SGPT enzymes were obtained by examining serum from mental patients with enzymatic methods using a spectrophotometer. The results showed that 15 (27%) mental patients with SGOT and SGPT levels were examined from 15 mental patients with SGPT and SGPT, 3 (20%) mental patients with high SGOT levels, and 8 (53%) mental patients with high levels of SGOT. SGOT and SGPT are normal. Keywords: Antipsychotics, Liver, Mental Patients, SGOT, SGPT ABSTRAK Gangguan jiwa merupakan proses fisiologis atau dikatakan mental seseorang tidak dapat berfungsi dengan baik sehingga mengganggu dalam aktivitas sehari-hari. Penanganan pasien gangguan jiwa dengan dilakukan pemberian terapi antipsikotik yang merupakan terapi farmakologi. Terapi bertujuan untuk mengembalikan fungsi normal pasien dan mencegah kekambuhan penyakitnya. Efek samping ditunjukkan pada pasien gangguan jiwa rawat inap yang diberikan terapi antipsikotik, salah satunya peningkatan kadar enzim hati (SGOT dan SGPT). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar SGOT dan SGPT pada pasien jiwa yang mendapatkan terapi antipsikotik. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan rancangan cross sectional study. Kadar enzim SGOT dan SGPT diperoleh dengan dilakukan pemeriksaan serum dari pasien gangguan jiwa dengan metode enzimatik menggunakan spektrofotometer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 15 pasien jiwa yang dilakukan pemeriksaan SGOT dan SGPT dijumpai 4 (27%) pasien jiwa dengan kadar SGOT dan SGPT tinggi, 3 (20%) pasien jiwa dengan kadar SGOT tinggi, dan 8 (53%) pasien jiwa dengan kadar SGOT dan SGPT normal. Abstract

ABSTRAK Tuberkulosis merupakan infeksi kronis yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Mycobacterim Tuberculosis. Pasien dengan tuberkulosis dapat mengalami penurunan nafsu makan juga muntah oleh karena efek samping obat. Hal ini dapat menyebabkan terbentuknya keton dalam tubuh oleh karena pasokan glukosa yang kurang. Keton dapat digunakan sebagai energi pengganti yang didapat dari metabolisme lemak. Jumlahnya yang berlebih juga akan keluar didalam urin (ketonuria) dan keberadaanya dalam urin bukanlah keadaan yang normal. Tujuan penelitian ini untukmengetahui gambaran keton urin pada pasien tuberkulosis penggun aobat anti tuberkulosis (OAT) di Puskesmas Lepo-Lepo Kota Kendari. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dan pengambilan sampel dengan accidental sampling dari bulan Mare-April 2019. Sampel penelitian ini adalah urin sewaktu dan menggunakan metode carik celup pada 30 pasien tuberkulosis yang mengonsumsi obat anti tuberkulosis (OAT). Berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan dari 30 sampel menunjukan bahwa semua sampel negatif ketonuria. Kata kunci: tuberculosis paru, urinalisis, keton. ABSTRACT Tuberculosis is a chronic infection caused by the bacterium Mycobacterim Tuberculosis. Patients with tuberculosis can experience decreased appetite as well as vomiting due to drug side effects. This can cause the formation of ketone bodies in the body due to lack of glucose supply. Ketones can be used as replacement energy derived from fat metabolism. The excess amount will also come out in the urine (ketonuria) and its presence in the urine is not a normal condition. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of urinary ketones in tuberculosis patients using anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT) in the Lepo-Lepo Health Center in Kendari City. The type of research is descriptive and sampling with accidental sampling from April to May 2019. The study sample was urine when in 30 tuberculosis patients taking anti-tuberculosis (OAT) drugs. Based on the results of examinations from 30 samples showing that all ketonuria negative samples.Keywords: pulmonary tuberculosis, urinalysis, ketones.

Abstract

Tomato (Lycopersicumesculentum Mill.) Is a vegetable plant that plays an important role in meeting community nutrition. In addition, tomatoes can also be used as medicine. The chemical content of tomatoes such as alkaloids, saponins can be as antibacterial. This study was conducted to determine whether the n-hexane fraction of tomato fruit extracts could inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This research was conducted experimentally, tomato fruit was extracted by maceration method using ethanol 96% solvent then fractionated by partitioning method using n-hexane solvent. The n-hexane fraction was then made in concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20% with ampisillin as a positive control and distilled water as a negative control, tested using the wells method. The results showed that the n-hexane fraction of tomato fruit extract could inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with an average diameter of inhibitory zone at a concentration of 10% at 16,0 mm, a concentration of 15% at 17,4 mm and a concentration of 20% at 17,7 mm and ampisillin positive control at 27,9 mm. From the results of the One Way Anova test obtained sig value <0.05 which means that the n-hexane fraction of tomato extract with 3 repetitions of each treatment showed that the average treatment had a significant effect on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Abstract

Marine macroalgae represent a promising but underexplored resource for anticancer drug discovery due to their diverse repertoire of bioactive secondary metabolites. Gracilaria salicornia, a red alga found abundantly in the waters surrounding the Hari Islands, Southeast Sulawesi, has not been previously studied for its cytotoxic potential. This study aimed to evaluate the phytochemical composition and anticancer activity of methanol extract from G. salicornia against MCF-7 human breast cancer cells. The algae were extracted using a gradient solvent system, with methanol selected for further testing due to its polarity and broad extraction capacity. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, phenolics, and steroids/terpenoids—classes of compounds known for their cytotoxic, pro-apoptotic, and redox-modulatory properties. General toxicity was assessed using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT), with the extract demonstrating moderate toxicity (LC₅₀ = 561.26 mg/L), indicating the presence of bioactive constituents. Cytotoxicity against MCF-7 cells was evaluated using the MTT assay, yielding an IC₅₀ value of 414.6 mg/L. Although lower than the standard chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin (IC₅₀ = 4.1 mg/L), the observed activity supports the hypothesis that G. salicornia contains compounds with therapeutic relevance. These findings suggest that G. salicornia harbors cytotoxic agents that act through diverse mechanisms, likely involving oxidative stress and hormonal regulation. While the crude extract exhibited only moderate activity, its phytochemical richness warrants further fractionation, isolation, and mechanism-of-action studies. This study provides foundational evidence for the potential of Indonesian marine algae in cancer drug discovery and highlights the need for continued exploration of native marine biodiversity as a source of novel chemotherapeutic agents.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Ethanol extract of purple sweet potato leaf contained secondary metabolite components, flavonoid and tannin. Flavonoids are polyphenol compounds that are widely distributed in plants as glycosides which bind to a sugar, therefore flavonoids are polar compounds. Polar solvents include methanol, ethanol, acetone and water. This research was conducted to determine the effect of extractor variation on the activity of antioxidant activity in purple potato sweet leaf extract (Ipomea batatas L.) Antioxidant activity of methanol extract, ethanol extract and acetone extract of purple sweet potato leaf was determined using DPPH method and vitamin C as a comparison with three replications. The results of the antioxidant activity determining showed that the average IC50 (Inhibitory Concentration) value of methanol extract was 52,52 mg/L; ethanol extract 30,82 mg/L; acetone extract was 9,86 mg/L and Vitamin C was 6.24 mg/L. Based on the results of One Way ANOVA and LSD analysis, the extractor variance give a significant effect on the antioxidant activity of purple sweet potato leaf extract. ABSTRAK Ekstrak etanol daun ubi ungu positif mengandung komponen metabolit sekunder golongan flavonoid dan tannin. Flavonoid merupakan senyawa golongan polifenol yang terdistribusi luas pada tumbuhan dalam bentuk glikosida yang berikatan dengan suatu gula, karena itu flavonoid merupakan senyawa yang bersifat polar. Pelarut yang bersifat polar diantaranya metanol, etanol, aseton dan air. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis pelarut terhadap aktivitas senyawa antioksidan dalam ekstrak daun ubi ungu (Ipomea batatas L.). Aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak metanol, ekstrak etanol dan ekstrak aseton daun ubi ungu diuji dengan menggunakan metode DPPH serta vitamin C sebagai pembanding dengan tiga kali replikasi. Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan menunjukkan nilai IC50 (Inhibitory Concentration) rata-rata ekstrak metanol daun ubi ungu sebesar 52,52 mg/L; ekstrak etanol daun ubi ungu sebesar 30,82 mg/L; ekstrak aseton daun ubi ungu sebesar 9,86 mg/L dan pembanding Vitamin C sebesar 6,24 mg/L. Berdasarkan hasil analisis One Way ANOVA dan Uji BNT, jenis pelarut memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak daun ubi ungu. Abstract

Vitex cofassus (Gofasa) merupakan salah satu tanaman tropika yang secara tradisional telah digunakan sebagai bahan obat. Skrining  fitokimia, uji antioksidan, antikolesterol dan uji toksisitas terhadap A. salina terhadap ekstrak metanol Vitex cofassus  telah dilakukan. Ekstraksi komponen kimia dilakukan dengan cara maserasi dengan pelarut metanol dan dilakukan uji fitokimia terhadap ekstrak untuk mengetahui komponen kimianya. Uji kolesterol dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode CHOD-PAP dan uji antioksidan dilakukan dengan metode DPPH.  Hasil  skrining fitokimia menunjukkan ekstrak metanol akar V. cofassus mengandung alkaloid, terpenoid, flavonoid dan tanin. Ekstrak metanol akar V. cofassus memiliki kemampuan untuk menurunkan kolesterol sebanyak 92% dan memiliki nilai IC50 terhadap DPPH sebesar  65.043 µg/mL. Hal ini menunjukkan ekstrak metanol akar V. cofassus memiliki kemampuan sebagai antikolesterol dan antioksidan.

Abstract

Minyak bumi sebagai sumber energi semakin berkurang dan semakin mahal. Salah satu sumber energi hijau yang ramah lingkungan dan berkelanjutan adalah biodiesel dari minyak nyamplung. Tujuan penelitian ini adalau untuk mengobservasi aktivitas katalis ZnO, CaO berpendukung MCM-48 yang teraktivasi dengan CTAB dan NaCl di dalam reaksi esterifikasi minyak nyamplung menjadi biodiesel. Kondisi reaksi yang diterapkan yaitu, suhu 60 °C, selama 1 jam, 2% (b/b) katalis, dan 1:9 (b/b) minyak banding metanol. Sintesis katalis dilakukan menggunakan metode hidrotermal pada suhu 100 °C selama 48 jam dan dikalsinasi dengan suhu 550, 650, dan 750 °C. Karakterisasi katalis menggunakan metode FTIR dan XRD. Aktivitas katalis di dalam reaksi esterifikasi diidentifikasi menggunakan metode titrasi asam-basa. Data FTIR menunjukan adanya serapan CH alifatik, Si-OH, Si-O-M (M. Si, Zn, Ca). Difraktogram sinar X katalis menunjukan adanya puncak pada daerah 2θ 2-3o (dua puncak) dan beberapa puncak pada daerah 2θ 4-5o yang merupakan ciri MCM-48. Rendemen reaksi yang diperoleh sebesar 62,55% dan 81,21% untuk katalis ZMZ/NaCl/650 dan ZMZ/NaCl/750. Persen aktivitas berturut-turut untuk kedua katalis tersebut lebih tinggi 1,83% dan 0,23% daripada katalis H2SO4. Kedua katalis ini mempunyai potensi sebagai kandidat pengganti katalis konvensional (H2SO4) yang tidak ramah lingkungan dan sering digunakan sebagai katalis di dalam reaksi esterifikasi pada bahan baku biodiesel yang memiliki kadar FFA lebih dari 20% seperti minyak nyamplung.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health problem in Indonesia and a leading cause of death from infectious diseases, partly because of impaired host immunity. Galing (Cayratia trifolia L. Domin) has been reported to exert immunomodulatory effects in bacterial infections. This study evaluated the immunostimulatory effect of galing leaf and stem extracts on granulocytes and natural killer (NK) cells in a TB-induced rat model. Leaf and stem extracts were administered orally to 28 Wistar rats at doses of 400 and 500 mg/kg body weight for seven days, followed by induction with TB ESAT-6 antigen. Granulocyte counts were measured using a hematology analyzer, whereas NK cells were quantified by ELISA. Galing extract significantly increased granulocyte and NK cell expression compared with the negative control (p<0.05). These findings indicate that galing extract has potential as an immunostimulatory agent in pulmonary TB by enhancing granulocyte and NK cell responses.
